Many of you know this guy is an absolute beast and it's one that we shouldn't have let walk away. He outplayed his contract though and we couldn't afford him. No need to talk that part out since I think we all agree. Stud player but too expensive. Anyway, he went to the Raiders, hurt his foot, and spent most of the last two seasons on injured reserve. In the few games he did play, he balled out. But he pretty much hasn't played at all. Here's where things get weird. He had foot surgery, was rehabbing properly, and had a setback. The Raiders told him he needed another surgery. His specialists said he didn't, so he insisted on continuing the rehab. Then the Raiders cut him over it. Strange, right? But that's not the entire story. The rest of the story is whispers and hush-hush stuff, but evidently there was an incident in the locker room. Maybe many incidents...you folks know he's a clown and always making people laugh. However, this seems beyond that. First, it's reported that he kissed a teammate on the head. But others inside the locker room have said that it was a lot more than that to reporters. No credible sources, nothing on the record, but players have whispered that Wilkins stuck his finger up someone's rear end. The Raiders had a complaint filed and HR investigated it. Nothing at all has been said publicly, other than Wilkins was released for not getting a 2nd foot surgery. Anyway, I heard this today because his agent made a claim that 26 of the 32 NFL teams had inquired about signing him over the past few weeks. I doubt we were one of the six that passed...who knows though. I'm guessing the Raiders didn't reach out so that leaves 5 teams outside the mix. There's another rumor being floated though that the league will require substantial proof that this incident was a moment of horrible judgement and not something more. Some have even whispered that this is a predatory thing, that similar things have happened before. Yet nobody has said anything openly on record. I'm not even sure why I'm sharing this, other than I was flabbergasted when I heard about it today. Maybe this was a prior topic and I just missed it.
Yeah, bro. This story has been out there for a while. It kind of resurfaced recently, probably due to FA.
You can sign Wilkins to a vet minimum but he shouldn't be considered to be more than a bubble player in camp. Unreliable with the foot injuries and his recent personal decisions.
