PFT on Huizenga, Parcells and the Rooney Rule

I am simply taking the viewpoint that the rule has been successful, praised by the community it serves, and no one inside the league is complaining that the rule doesnt serve a purpose or has run its course. To label it crap, or ineffective, is cleary incorrect.

No I am not, which is why I dont put words in anyones mouth about who should feel what especially in areas of discrimination based on race, etc.

The league feels this rule is necessary and has provided a valuable service to its members. I am simply stating unless you can prove otherwise why would you be against this rule?

It will run its course for as long as the league deems necessary. How is it impairing anyone against it?

 

well i stand behind my opinion that it is stupid to have to pat minorities on the head just for the sake of doing it.

 

Ok, lets try this....who besides yourself, which minority candidates, which members of the NFL coaching community, which Owners are agreeing with your opinion?

Certainly its your opinion, and more power to you, but if no one that it directly affects or impacts is supporting your opinion, franly, one of an outsider, doesnt it seem to be a moot one?

o i bet tons of executives throughout the NFL share my opinion, but would never dare say it.

regardless, imo, it hinders the advancement towards a non racist society by re-emphasizing the race issue.

i mean huizenga was gonna hire saban, but then was told he better interview a minority even though he has no intention of hiring, so he interviews art shell....i just think it's counter productive

 

It absolutely does have an effect on the hiring process.

Have you not paid attention to the process and scrutiny any team goes through?
Even when a minority is interviewed there is ALWAYS that one additional step of pressure and scrutiny through the media by these "equality" groups to hire that candidate or to trash the entire process of the minority interview as being a farce by the interviewing team if they don't end up hiring that candidate.

It's much much more than you are painting it out to be.

In addition, to your post citing that no one tied to the NFL has publicly questioned the integrity of the rule to prove everyone agrees with it is silly. Anyone that did would be putting himself out there to commit career suicide. You don't question things like that and survive in any workplace these days.

LOL, enjoyed the banter and we will see if any changes occur, and if/when the NFL claims the day has come for this rule to be no longer necessary.
