Mike Tomlin is stepping down as the coach for the Steelers, from the way it sounds, he wants to take time off from coaching. If he puts himself in the market, he will be highly be sought after just like Harbough is.

He's not coaching next year. Hard pass either way.

I saw he mentioned that he'd like to coach in the south with a warmer climate...that felt like an odd statement for someone quitting.

He's under contract for another year so he can't interview for any jobs right now without it being through the Steelers (via trade). So maybe he sits a year, let's his contract lapse, then looks for a job in 2027.

I couldn't blame him for going that route either. This isn't a kid in his 20's making millions, who will have his entire life to spend it after football. Tomlin should rest and enjoy his family for awhile before jumping back into the grind.

I think he will settle in at his television job and stay retired.. with that said, pittsburgh quickly becomes the job everyone wants

Meh. The past stability is a good look and appealing, but each coach has to stand on their own as well. Remember Tomlin came in on the back of a strong Cowher team to get established. This iteration of the Steelers is in desperate need of an overhaul for an aging roster with a declining defense, no QB and mediocre skill players. I also wouldn't be surprised if they either trade TJ or he asks out. 2-3-4 seasons of .500 or below and watch them hire #5 lol. I don't really see it as more favorable than Miami for instance, and less than the Ravens and probably Giants/Titans/Falcons. Clearly the Raiders and Cardinals are the worst of the openings. Browns pretty bad too unless you have a high opinion of Shedeur. I see Miami as being middle of the pack - Tua's contract blows but it turns over quick enough. There are good young core pieces and it's Miami - it's a destination city.
