The Ravens just missed the playoffs and Lamar Jackson has been quoted recently saying he wants out of Baltimore. He's also stated multiple times in the past that he'd like to play for Miami. We also know that Ross is a big Lamar Jackson fan and wanted to draft him previously. So if the stars aligned and we could sign Jackson (likely for Tua + draft picks), would you be for it? This is purely post-season banter; these rumors rarely have substance.
A running Qb like him is great when he is young but I can see his body start to break down so no thanks.
Jackson, even though he's young, is a fading star already. And he'll want to continue being paid like a star. The injuries after years of hits is starting to take their toll. He's pretty good at protecting the ball so I don't think he falls off the cliff once his running ability ends. I do have work ethic concerns. The Ravens are a high profile team since his arrival. Yet I rarely ever see him looking at a pad to review plays and defenses or sitting with a coach on the sidelines. That indicates they just let Lamar be Lamar. When you're an MVP athletically that might be okay, but when you're not, might be an issue
He would certainly be an upgrade over Tua but, there are strong indications that he's nearing the end of his NFL career. We should concentrate on organizing a better scouting structure.
**** no. I didn't want him as a rookie. I wouldn't want that style of QB in his prime. And I sure as Hell don't want him now that his body is breaking down and he's going to be out of the league soon. He's on the Cam Newton train full speed.
Ravens are not going to trade him for less than 3 firsts. He is their franchise, the reason ravens fans buy season tickets, the reason why they sell out every home game and travel very well with them (there was arguanly more ravens fans than dolphins fans on thursday night football in miami) the reason why they sell out merchandise..
After watching Cam for many seasons as my "area home team" quarterback, he was a mere shell of the player he used to be. He was easily the most exciting player I've ever watched play QB- seeing a guy throw a DT to the ground, spin away from a blitzing safety, then juke a DE all in one motion....only to run for 40+ yards on the play...or complete a 50+ yard bomb....is a thing of legends. That Cam was gone long before he arrived at NE though, and what was left was a below average pocket QB who had no idea how to handle pressure at that stage of his career. The magic was simply gone and it was sad to see. I love these types of quarterbacks but we all know their careers are shortened.
I’ll answer this by saying this… Look at how many games Lamar Jackson has missed due to injury vs how many games Tua Tagovailoa has missed due to injury. If Tua is too fragile and injury prone, what does that make Jackson?
