Sadly I don't think this is McDaniels last game and believe he will be back next season, I honestly believe the Troy Aikman hiring is a hint at that. I really believe McDaniels hiring was on the condition that he make Tua elite in Miami, and he had no other options. Ultimately this led to his downfall, and now he is and has divorced himself from Tua now knowing what Flores knew all along. Today's game should be fun for Miami go and ball out, there's nothing to lose. Not saying they will win, but they all are auditioning for jobs for the next season, the most import audition is Ewers.
I agree on the McDaniel part that he is here next season the Aikman thing is the one thing that makes me doubt that a little though.
I’m not so sure. Aikmen was quite critical of McDaniel and Tua on air during the Pittsburgh game. Concerning McDaniel, Aikmen was very critical over the lack of urgency, poor clock management with the Dolphins trailing, saying it was about as ridiculous of a 4th quarter as he’s ever seen. That’s not a ringing endorsement of McDaniel and it’s not the only example of poor clock management during McDaniels tenure. The season is over. This game means absolutely nothing. I just want to see this team play hard, as a cohesive unit and the players who plan on being back next season demonstrate why they deserve to be on the team. I want to see them part of the solution and not part of the problem, regardless of who the next GM and possibly next head coach will be.
Any GM prospect worth a damn is not going to be saddled with a coach that he is not comfortable with. I don't know what Marino has been contributing all these years. Maybe he was reluctant to speak up for fear of losing his meal ticket and was just around to shake hands but, Aikman seems like a serious approach that should result in a clean sweep. The franchise needs a HC and more than just two Offensive Co-ordinators.
Aikman is not there for the purpose of a new head coach, I doubt a new GM will be hired by the end of January, by the time a new GM is hired I am sure all qualified candidates for Head coach will have been depleted. This is why I believe the Troy Aikman hire signals that Ross plans to keep McDaniel. Personally that ship has sailed for me, we need new direction plain and simple. However, no matter how much we desire this move, it's ultimately Ross decision regardless how we feel. I just decided I will no longer finance this franchise until three changes were made, and we are 2/3 of the way there. I will not buy any merchandise until Ross takes action or sells the team. Furthermore, I know I'm just a grain of sand on the beach, and it doesnt scare Ross I'm not buying merchandise, but it's a principle I am willing to stand on.
I feel your pain, bro, but I think he's gone. I don't see how he can stay. He's terrible. He's an embarrassment at this point. As I've said before and as you just mentioned, we need the trifecta to happen. We got two down, one to go. No quality GM will take this job with that goof of a coach being forced on him. Remember, we have Ross's inherited wealthy, spoiled daughters to look forward to, so getting really lucky somewhere along the way on this long road through franchise Hell is for all we can hope.
OL just has to keep him upright so he can be assessed properly with the new coaching staff and GM. Let's win it Phins
Didn't they hire McDaniel late? And not every team that makes the playoffs allows coaches to take interviews.
You don't HAVE to hire a GM first. Lions hired Dan Campbell before they hired Brad Holmes for instance. That said, I do think it's 50/50 on McDaniel right now. I can easily see him back, I can easily see him as a goner. I think today's game might be important - if he salvages a win or even keeps it competitive that says something. If the team quits and we get smoked by a half-interested Pats team with nothing to play for (the Chargers are sitting everyone of importance against Denver) then it would be a hard sell to bring him back and doing so is likely just as a scapegoat for a potentially rough next season. As for Aikman, it's an interesting move and I don't dislike the idea of an outside voice weighing in. I will be disappointed if it just leads to a Jason Garrett hire though.
What Ross truly needs to do is get the GM hired as soon as possible, and there are plenty of candidates out there that are available effective tomorrow. But what Ross needs to do more than anything is hire a strong football GM and get out of the way. For too many years, Ross has been too hands on, wanting to be involved, making personnel decisions, making coaching decisions, wanting to harmonious environment. Some of the best teams have owners who are completely hands off. Clark Hunt of the Chiefs Terrry Pegula of the Bills Jeffrey Larry of the Eagles They hire football people and let them run the football team and that’s exactly what Ross needs to do. Hell you never know, Aikmen has express interest in the past of becoming a GM and even though he’s being brought in in an advisory role, he could very well be offered the position himself. With all of his connections throughout the league, that could be very interesting.
For those who wanted a loss today for better draft position, Merry Christmas. Who's making the draft picks?
Ewers looking good! Like the playcalling so far except that we should‘ve taken the points earlier imo…
Ewers looks promising. He's got poise, accuracy, he moves well in the pocket. I think he deserves a serious shot at starting next season.
His footwork needs work but that was to be expected. He also has moxy to him and progresses well imo.
Just hilarious how Washington seems to get more yards running than receiving every week. Might want to come up with new wrinkled McDaniel
Hehehehe Edit: Not sure he‘ll be our new Kicker, depends on the coach and GM. Sanders definitely has the better leg.
Sorry to say boys Ewers is not the future. His footwork is god awful. You can't play Qb in this league flat footed. At least in my opinion
And to think there is SOOOOO much talk about Anthony Weaver being a candidate for a head coaching position. For WHAT???
