FanNation | The Peter King Challenge He picks us 24-23, stating the Chargers have had trouble this year with efficient quarterbacks.
I agree with you bro what Peter King said was right on point about Chad Pennington. I think as long we go out there and play hard and dont turn the ball over we can beat the Chargers.
The fans who voted on his site dont agree. 87% picked San Diego to win on the road. Guess that shouldnt be a surprise though.
We actually haven't lost to the Chargers since our 22-21 collapse in the 1994 AFC Divisional playoff game. Pretty good streak going. Last time we played them we were supposed to get whipped and we took it to them at their house.
Hell, talk about efficient QB's, Ronnie Brown has a perfect 158.3 QBR this year. He's taken what, 7 snaps this year, and 5 of them ended up being TDs....with a 28-yard rush sprinkled in. Doesn't get much more efficient than that.
I know. But that was basically a hail mary type pass. It goes down in the stats, but he wasn't victimized and/or made a bad decision. In a normal game situation, he doesn't force that throw.
true but that INT might have cost us a win, depending on the results of the 4th down after it, so while i see your point it is still worth noting
Ive been feelin real good about this game, somethin in the rhythm of our franchise is different. Lets hope our fans get there to cheer.
I almost have to blame this INT on Ginn... he seemed to make very little effort to go up and get that ball... certainly did not give anywhere near the effort Revis did.
disagree. it was a poor throw way too short and if I remember correctly it was only 3rd down so he could have put it out of play and we would have had fourth down still BTW: How awesome would it have been if on 4th down we brought out the Wildcat to win
Unfortunately with that play, all you could see was the end result. But if you could see the matchup of Ginn Vs. Revis, you'd have seen Ginn beat Revis to the back of the endzone. Pennington threw it to the right place, the timing was just a second too late and, well, Pennington doesn't have a rocket for an arm. He threw the ball with confidence, so we know Ginn was open at some point during Penningtons release, but it just didn't get there.
We have to spread the ball! Utilize our TEs and RBs in the passing game. The Chargers are an aggressive defense and without Merriman they don't get the same pressure they are used to.
Their defense in general has been pretty shoddy this year. Hopefully the lightbulb doesnt go off this week. Id much rather the cross country trip breaks it
The Fins gain instant credibility if they beat the Bolts...it adds legitimacy to the NE win... The Bolts have had and up and down year, and I hope this is one of their down games. Talent-wise, we can't hold a stick to them...but we're learning...
Then there is the Norv factor Larry... he fields an inconsistant team, we just might catch them on a flat day, dog them hard for 60 mins. and come out with a win. If I see the same "take no prisoners" attitude from our team I will be estatic... and we likely will win.
How could it be short if it was essentially a jump pass in the back of the endzone? Unless you're saying he should have thrown it away, which I can't necessarily disagree with. I don't think the Wildcat would have won it for us there. Situation wasn't right for it. But it would have rocked.
The most important things will be sustaining drives and putting up points on Offense and on D we have to put up some stops.
Putting it out of play, however, would only have helped if he thought he'd get a better, or at least equal, chance of scoring the next play than he did on that one. Quite simply, the odds were stacked against him regardless of when he decided to gamble.
Peter King isn't the only one... Jay Novacek too: Novacek's picks: Only one unbeaten will remain - NFL - NBCSports.com
Rob Parker the guy who was on First Take this morning and predicted Miami to win against NE and win easily predicted Miami to win again this week 23-21. Skip Bayless picked the Chargers to win 24-21.
