We’re yelling kick the field goal. But we’ve seen this story before where they left too much time on the clock and lost the game. What do you think about the decision to go for it at the end of the game?
Both times I felt like he should have taken the points. I appreciate him having the stones to make that call to go for it, but it almost cost us the game. He's been out of his mind lately, but we are winning more than we're losing so you put up with it. I like coach, I hope he sticks around, he's a maniacal Madden nerd playing the game in real life. It's fun and I'll take fun any day of the week.
I thought that it was clearly the wrong choice. As was passing up the FG when they were close earlier in the game too. Dan Quinn had his players ready for absolutely everything Miami was doing in short yardage, and it wasn't going to work today. Its not just about computer odds in the situation, you have to use your brain and eyes and read what's going in in real life in the moment.
Going into yesterday's game, the Dolphins were 13 for 13 on 4th and goal to go so early in the game on 4th down, I was okay with the call to go for it. If you get the TD, awesome. If not, the Redskins were pinned in the basement. At the end of the game however, I think we should have taken the points although I would have taken a page out of Belichick's playbook. Take the delay of game and then commit a false start to keep the game clock moving...unless the rules have changed or doesn't apply at that point of the game. In the end, it all panned out!
I complete agree. The first time, go for it since it's a high percentage play. But at the end of the game, kick the field goal and trust your defense. That game should have never went into overtime and against a better team, we would have lost today.
I take the points vs a team that put up 13 points to that point with less than 2 minutes and no time outs. But, I didn't think he was out of his mind until it failed. Had some anger then, but all's well that ends well.
