I don't always like Cowherd, but he sometimes has good takes. This one is very good. He makes a lot of good points. The phins stuff is just from the beginning through the 2;30 mark. It starts with the Grier firing, the coaching possibility and finding a GM, then Mcdaniei, then.... ...Tua. He echoes a lot of points that I and others have made over the years. I completely agree and have always believed that we should find a good coach before we find the GM. Considering the state of this franchise, we need a strong minded, strong personality type of coach and one who has some good experience. It's best for the coach and GM to have some past connection or a strong mutual interest in working with each other. It's not always easy to find and not always possible and there probably isn't one right way to do things, but I think that's ideal. Definitely find the coach before the GM. As far as his Kiffin suggestion, I didn't really like him when he was first in the league, but he's had a lot of experience since then and he's very good with the O. Colin makes a good case for why he should at least be considered.
No thanks on Kiffin, pretty sure he's compromised based on questionable decision-making and comments made post game. Don't need that taint

By hiring a head coach before hiring the GM, you essentially do the same thing to that GM that was done to McDaniel. “We want to hire you BUT…you HAVE to work with Tua…you HAVE to keep Boyer as the DC” In this scenario it would be, “We want to hire you but you HAVE to work with Kiffin” What if the GM you WANT to hire has someone else in mind? You’ve tied his hands behind his back and forces his hand…just like what was done with McDaniel…and supposedly what was done with Flores (remember, he supposedly wanted Herbert over Tagovailoa). Now if your new GM wants Kiffin, so be it but if Ross is going to be a meddling owner and keep putting his hands in the koolaid, he’s going to be another Jerry Jones and we’ve all seen how well that’s worked out for Dallas since Johnson’s departure
Depending on how this season goes you might end up with „we want to hire you but you have to work with McDaniel“. That’s what I‘m afraid of tbh. They should decide who the strong man is going to be it can go both ways either the Coach or the GM. But that is what Ross needs to figure out, hopefully he does it this time…

Then they should’ve cleaned house and not traded away only one player, but that’s not really possible because of Tuas contract. At least the first domino fell wich was Grier and that was the most important one imo. Don’t look really rosy for the near future, but maybe we finally get lucky somehow, would be nice for a change.
Well that’s why I had said whoever the Dolphins hire as GM, he needs to have 100% control…period…bottom line…full stop.

I understand what you're saying but for myself personally, I don't want a head coach to have 100% control...and this is looking at things from the business side of the NFL. Once upon a time in the NFL when there was no salary cap in the league, if a team had an owner with a bottomless checkbook, sure, having a head coach with 100% control was not an issue, but with the salary cap and having to juggle 52 contract and negotiate with agents and restructure contracts etc, it's too much and takes away from what he is supposed to be doing as a head coach. In today's NFL, you have to have a head coach and a GM that are in sync with their vision and working together to accomplish the team's vision. That's just my take.
I agree to a certain point but do you think Andy Reid, Sean Payton or the Harbaughs are not the strong person in their franchises? I don’t mind who it is the Coach or the GM, just bring us back to glory.
