MIAMI DOLPHINS Dolphins bring in more defensive tackles, eager to restock the position. And pick update
By Barry Jackson Updated April 3, 2025

The Dolphins, intent on finding defensive line help in the draft, are using several of their permitted 30 pre-draft visits on defensive tackles. Among them, as reported by ESPN and confirmed by a source:

Texas defensive tackle Alfred Collins, a second-team All-American last season. Collins — 6-6, 332 pounds — had 55 tackles (5.5 for loss) with a sack, seven pass breakups, a forced fumble and blocked kick last season. NFL.com’s Chad Reuter slots him 51st, three spots after Miami’s pick. ESPN’s Field Yates mocks him 64th, adding: “Collins had dominant stretches at Texas, and with more consistency, he could quickly outplay this draft slot. He’s 6-foot-6 and 332 pounds, and he has 34⅝-inch arm.”

ESPN’s Jordan Reid mocks him 52nd, noting “he is an A+ run defender and sturdy at the point of attack, and he maximizes the impact of his 34⅝-inch arm length.” NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein said: “Collins isn’t going to stand out in one particular area, but he plays hard and has outstanding physical traits to blend right into an NFL defensive rotation.... He’s not a premier playmaker but he has the size, talent and alignment versatility to help fortify a defensive front as an early contributor and future starter.”

Texas A&M’s Shemar Turner and Rutgers’ Kyonte Hamilton are among other defensive tackles booked for 30 visits with the Dolphins, who are expected to add several during the draft process. While Turner is visiting the Dolphins, there are no current plans for Texas A&M edge player Shemar Stewart, a local prep standout, to visit Miami because some expect him to be gone by No. 13 and because Miami has more pressing needs than an edge player. Compensatory pick in question After the Dolphins lost Calais Campbell to the Arizona Cardinals, Nick Korte – the compensatory pick expert for overthecap.com - projected Miami would get an extra 2026 fourth-round pick. But Korte no longer projects Miami will get a pick after factoring in the addition of receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine. In an exchange on X, Korte said Thursday that it’s simply too soon to know if the Dolphins will get a compensatory pick from this offseason’s transactions and it must play out. For now, the additions of Westbrook-Ikhine, Zach Wilson, James Daniels and potentially Ifeatu Melifonwu cancel out the loss of Jevon Holland, Campbell and Robert Jones. But the NFL’s complex formula could ultimately leave Miami with a compensatory pick in 2026.
