Nic Fangio defense decimated Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the KC Chiefs, if only the Dolphins could find a defensive coach like Fangio.

Fangio never wanted to be in Miami in the first place. He was only here for the paycheck as the highest paid coordinator in the league. Even if the Dolphins won the Super Bowl last year, Fangio was going to Philly.

Fangio didn't blitz once last night or devise a masterful scheme to beat the Chiefs. He played in a shell defense and rushed four all night and dominated a bad Chiefs offensive line.

It was more personnel than Fangio last night.

Most places have the Chiefs OL as being a top 5 unit.

The Eagles DL was fantastic, but Fangio was brilliant. He didn’t do anything flashy, but the beauty was in the simplicity.

Typically Fangio likes to play 2 high safety, but he went with Cover 4 last night. He knows that Mahomes is great at picking up blitzes, so he bluffed a bunch, never once blitzed (like you said) and instead used those bluffs to better help his front 4 to rush and contain Mahomes. Fangio also rotated 8-9 guys on the DL. Kept them fresh, kept them disciplined, and dismantled Mahomes.

I agree that not all teams could have pressured Mahomes with 4 guys, but the Cover 4 and pressure at the beginning confused Mahomes and got him rattled. That was Fangio’s plan and it worked great.

Hopefully! His first season here was promising, one of the few things that’s promising, when it comes to this franchise.

Yup, the only hope for me personally is weaver is real head coaching material that will inspire his players to work harder and implement a new philosophy and program that will make them work harder
