There was about an 8 or 9 year gap between the last two systems IINM. I would like to see some more exclusive titles worth buying on the PS3 though.
This is just thinking process i would say a year before any real development then several years to finish. This is nothing new that they are thinking about it.
Yea, but I wished they'd overtaken the Wii by now. But I guess there's just a bigger market pandering to grandparents and little kids than to adult gamers.
You don't ask for much huh? You answered your own issue there, the Wii just has a bigger target audience. I don't think the Wii will/can be caught. Most people don't consider it a direct competitor to the PS3/360 anyway.
They would be stupid not to start planning the ps4 right after they released the ps3. It isn't like there is just 10 people at sony
You'd be amazed how disappointed I am at Blu-ray's performance. Probably if you consider the PS3/360 as next-gen gaming and multimedia platforms and the Wii as just a casual gaming console.
I thought the war vs. HD-DVD took longer than I'd hoped. And though prices are dropping, I still thought HD-DVD got theirs dropped sooner and lower even before they dropped out of the race. And then you have those who bought early Blu-Ray players shut out when they revamped the profile and those with no internet connection were SOL.
Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are all doing this. In fact these companies are constantly working on consoles so even as the PS3 rolled off the line the PS4 was in the back of Sony's mind already. Sony does typically do a 10 year life span but that can be misleading because a 10 year life span doesn't mean that the console will be the newest made by Sony at that time. What I mean is that although the PS1 was still having games made for it in 2005 (Madden 2005 for example) it was in no way Sony's flagship system at the time but nonetheless the PS1 had games developed for it for about 10 years thus giving it a 10 year life span. The same thing is happening now with the PS2 and PS3, its obvious that the PS3 is the flagship console but the PS2 is still having games made for it and probably will continue it until 2010 (a 10 year life cycle). So when we look at all of this Sony typically releases a new console every 6 years (PS1-PS2 (1994 PS1 releases and in 2000 the PS2 releases) was in this time frame and so was the PS2-PS3 time frame (2000 PS2 released and in 2006 PS3 released)). This is all of course based on American console release dates. So I would expect the PS4 in 2012.
