No worries. Sooner or later we'll land a GM like Rick Spielman, a HC like Dan Cambell or Zac Taylor will already be on the staff waiting for their chance to shine, or a QB like Drew Brees will fall in our lap in the 2nd round, or we'll have 25 1st rounders on our team all at the same time. Anything can happen.

I can never tell around here. Since Zac Taylor is a successful head coach right now, as is Campbell, seemed to me he was indicating that the people we've let go were better than the ones we've hired.
We passed on Brees in the first round and again in the second. I count that twice. I remember wanting Brees in the first round and when he was still there in the second I thought it was too good to be true. And then came Jamar Fletcher.
Every team in the NFL passed on Brees at least once in that draft. Spielman doesn't look like an idiot today does he?
I just looked it up and I was wrong. We passed on him for Fletcher but SD took him with the 1st pick in round 2.
The reasoning for passing is what is ridiculous. Look, I loved Fielder,. He went to school at Dartmouth, like 40 minutes from where I live. But he wasn't ever going to be The Guy. So yeah, I think he does still look ridiculous, as does any GM who passed on Drew Brees for similarly ridiculous reasons.
Did we trade some picks that would have allowed us to grab him again? I feel like we missed on him actually 3 times, too. But maybe that's just because it was such a colossal miss.
I never understood why they were so invested in Fiedler but he was also replacing Dan Marino. Whoever tried to fill those shoes never had a chance.

Fiedler was my least favorite QB ever. Could not stand him. Wife bought me a Fiedler jersey and I took it back.
I have a jersey for every QB we've had since Marino except Culpepper. I went to my first game in Miami last year and actually saw a Fiedler jersey. I should have asked him if that's the last jersey he bought.
