Could Eichenberg be saved at RT? Wasn't that where he played in college where the experts said he was the most ready pro?
He should take over Lamm's role as the swing tackle/utility lineman. He is not a starter in this league but will be a quality depth guy.
This sounds to me like team doctors protecting their long term investment in Tua. He obviously wants to play and said he could have played last week. If the chips fall in our favor Sunday Tua will be starting in Buffalo wildcard weekend.
McD said: "I think Tua wishes it was just a pain issue. It's quite literally being able to have the strength to do what we ask him to do, as well as protecting himself from very serious injury if we don't treat it appropriately." I know Tua wants to play, but there's a reason he's not being medically cleared. It's not clear if they'll clear him for a playoff game even if he personally feels it's certain he'll be available for a WC game. Meanwhile Broncos favored -10.5 over Chiefs.. ouch.
Seems like there’s more to this then they are saying; sounds like they are worried about long term effects with this injury.
This has to be doctor ordered not McDaniel if we lose against the jets and the broncos lose McDaniel has to be able to say this call is from our doctors
The injury itself isn’t serious. It’s his inability to move appropriately to avoid getting injured severely. If you tie a boxers hand behind his back he can’t protect himself. That’s what’s going on here. And with the way this team is under the microscope, unfairly I might add, they can’t risk allowing him to play. Not like that really matters what with how carelessly he has played this season, however.
On the plus side, Sauce Gardner won’t be playing on Sunday, and some other key Jets might not suit up, either: https://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/article/jets-gardner-to-sit-out-vs-dolphins-with-20014003.php
That feels crazy high to me- the Chiefs aren't going to get blown out before a two-week layoff. Maybe they rest some starters but they're still going to try to win the game. They've been in this situation before with Matt Moore and Chad Henne, and they won both games. Hopefully this time isn't any different and the spread is simply because of people betting so heavily on Denver.
It's a good point, but a closer look tells you they've only won their last game resting starters if they play a really weak team. Andy Reid with KC has rested starters 4 times before in the last game of the season: In 2013 they lost 24-27 in OT to the 9-7 Chargers. In 2017 they won 27-24 against the 5-11 Broncos. In 2020 they lost 21-38 to the 7-9 Chargers In 2023 they won 13-12 against the 5-12 Chargers So they tend to be competitive, but their wins are against 5-win teams. Broncos are pretty good: 9-7 with the 10th best offense and 5th best defense. Maybe that explains why odds for Miami to make the playoffs are currently around +600, or 14%. We just have to hope Wentz has a great game in him. Hey, if the Giants can beat the Colts, KC playing backups can beat Denver lol.
Very good take. It’s the same stuff some of us here have been saying and warned about for a long time now, but Hyde is really just a troll.
Best Dolphins podcast there is imo. Hyde is my favorite guest on it, I also like Beasley, but all the guests Poupart has bring something to the table, always a good watch!
Yea probably true. He was named top ten sports columinist In the country a couple of years ago so I definitely listen to him over most people
You just have to listen to know it’s true. Undeniable. Some of us have been saying the same thing for a long time. Listen through to the end. Important points towards the end.
This is why it's going to be extremely difficult to move on from Tua, barring him retiring or having a (God forbid) career ending injury.
Whomever the GM is, is unlikely to move on from Tua in 2025 anyway. One caveat is if Tua looks to be injured and unlikely to play going forward. Then I could see them blowing it up post June 1. The blueprint is there, established by the Donkeys and Payton.so it could happen.
Regardless of who the GM, it is a difficult proposition to move on from Tua. I don't believe a trade is possible
Tua is here for at least two more seasons. Banging our heads against the wall thinking there's another option is a waste of breath. Grier bet the farm on Tua and that's just a fact we as fans are going to live with whether we like it or not. The closest thing the franchise can do NOW to move on is investing a first round selection on a QB which would be another year not addressing the OL. I would go OL this year's draft, roll one more season with Tua, and after next season take a QB (2026) if Tua misses significant time again in 2025. My only issue with Tua since the day he was drafted has been injuries. Gotta hope for the best at this point because you can't un fry an egg.
I agree. You have to give this thing more more go with Tua, unless, he's unable to play. And they likely won't know about that until training camp, well after the draft.
The chance of finding a QB better than Tua is extremely slim. Don't forget the multi-decades long wait since Marino till we had Tua. You don't get rid of QBs like that. You protect them. Improving OL is paramount. Other than that, implement a strategy of always picking a potential replacement in the mid/low rounds each draft. With enough tries you'll find a good QB.
Also, guys, let's be real here. Tua's most horrific injury occurred when he was playing on the most stacked team a player could dream of, with probably the best offensive line he could ever have. And he still got smashed.
Some of the injuries are preventable if he plays smarter. His currently availability rate isn't that much lower than league average. If he learns to play smarter you might have a QB that is no less available than league average.
That is the problem He is an idiot Nick Satan said when he was at Bama his biggest problem with him is he likes to play hero ball instead of throwing it away. 5 years later he hasn't changed. This dude more than likely is not going to last.
So next year we losing two offensive tackles in Armstead and and Lamm. We need to hit free agency and draft hard on Ol. We need tackles and 2 new starting guards. The question is will they?
I agree...and I disagree. Yes, injuries can be avoided if he plays smarter and doesn't allow himself to get hit. However, imo, I know there is at least one who disagrees with me, I don't believe that in his NFL career, his injuries have been from anything other than relatively normal, run of the mill NFL tackles. So what we seem to have, is a QB that, regardless of the quality of oline, absolutely cannot be allowed to scramble when the line breaks down (every line breaks down sometime, even the great ones), since he can't be trusted to slide, and he has shown that he really cannot withstand even normal hits.
Not only that.In all my years watching football I have never seen a team without the QB sneek being in the playbook.
But in saying this it is what it is. Unless he gets hurt in Training camp he will be our starter next season regardless of how we feel. Better build a Damm line.
Funny you said that.I remember in Texans game he stood in the pocket and took a hit.I said to my son wow!He actually stood in the pocket took a shot and isn't hurt. Turns out he did get hurt on that play and of course Hill dropped it anyway.
