The first Miami Dolphins injury report of Week 16 featured a who's who of the team's offensive stars, including a new name on the list in quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Tagovailoa was listed as a limited participant, though it's not known whether he sustained an injury during the 20-12 loss against the Houston Texans on Sunday or in practice Wednesday, though the former is more likely given how QBs are to be avoided in practice. Along with Tagovailoa, the list of offensive stars on the injury report included wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, tackles Terron Armstead and Kendall Lamm, and even running back De'Von Achane. Armstead (knee), Lamm (back), Waddle (knee) and Hill (wrist/rest) all sat out practice, while Achane was listed as a full participants. The other three players who didn't practice were WR Dee Eskridge (knee), along with the two veterans getting their usual Wednesday rest day, Jordan Poyer and Calais Campbell. Along with Tagovailoa, LB Bradley Chubb (knee) and FB Alec Ingold (ankle) were limited, while LB Cameron Goode (knee) was a full participant like Achane. Chubb, Goode and long-snapper Blake Ferguson all are in the final week of their three-week practice window after being on PUP and the Reserve/Non-Football Illness list, though head coach Mike McDaniel said before practice that Ferguson would not playing again in 2024.
The 49ers have gotten used to being shorthanded at running back this season and it looks like they’ll be down another one in Miami on Sunday. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Isaac Guerendo is unlikely to play against the Dolphins. Guerendo did not practice on Wednesday after suffering a foot injury in Week 14 and hurting his hamstring last Sunday. Guerendo was the lead back in the wake of the season-ending injuries suffered by Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason in recent weeks. He ran 31 times for 135 yards and two touchdowns and caught six passes for 68 yards in his two starts. Patrick Taylor and Israel Abanikanda are the other backs on the 53-man roster. They also have Ke’Shawn Vaughn on the practice squad.
The Dolphins designated edge rusher Bradley Chubb for return a little more than two weeks ago, but he has not been added to the active roster yet. On Wednesday, head coach Mike McDaniel said at his press conference that it’s a “complicated” answer to the question of whether the Dolphins might decide that it doesn’t make sense for Chubb to return to action this year. Chubb tore his ACL late last season and the Dolphins’ already slim playoff hopes might be totally gone by the time Week 16 is over. Defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver shed some more light on where things stand with the veteran when he spoke to reporters on Thursday. “Chubb looks like a guy who is trying to work himself back to where he used to be,” Weaver said, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “He flashes but you don’t want to touch that field until you know you’re your best self. When he plays, he will be ready to go . . . He’s getting to that point.” If the Dolphins don’t activate Chubb in time to face the 49ers on Sunday, they’ll face a deadline next week to decide if Chubb’s best self is going to make an appearance at all this season.
I think bringing Chubb back at this point would be idiotic. If he reinjures his knee that would put him on the shelf for next season. We're not mathematically out yet but chances are pretty slim so why risk it with one of our stars on defense?
Just some context... SF is officially eliminated and we're not. If we can't get up for this game at home and beat a team with nothing to play for it's going to be pretty sad.
I doubt the 49ers even realize they are eliminated, but a Dolphins loss here wouldn’t be any less sad.
I wasn’t referencing any other pass. Why do you reply to me if you’re only going to cry later if/when I reply back?
So then the first post makes no sense if you weren't referencing the much discussed int to Hill last week
Sure it does. Anyone with any common sense realizes it’s about all of the goal post moving and ridiculous criticism of Tua.
lol… I wonder who this is? Trolls are really sad. Creating multiple accounts in order to keep coming back. Sad
