Tua disappeared as you put it due to being under constant pressure all night from an incompetent offensive line that allowed 5 sacks on their quarterback. It wouldn’t have mattered who was under center last night with that Greek tragedy of an offensive line.
I'm more upset about the decision to throw that ball on 1st down. Reminds of times when Miami rushed to get a play in before the 2 minute warning only to throw an INT or some other disastrous play when we had plenty of time and it was to our benefit to slightly slow down the game.
Sorry but you can't compare the two. Until PR takes in to account rushing and or evading the rush, you cannot compare Tua to Allen. All things being equal, Allen can will the Bills to victory with his legs and ability to bulldoze people. Tua would get knocked out of the league if he played like Allen. I'd rather have Tua finish with a 68 rating after a Dolphins win where he ran for 14 yards on fourth and 13 while evading half the defense than Tua throwing a floater to the sidelines resulting in a loss with his 80 plus rating. I just don't think that's a fair comparison. Allen is one of the most physically gifted QB's of all time and if he was on the Phins he'd likely eclipse Marino..
But that’s not really the point. I only used Allen as an example and I’m not really comparing the two, but rather their teams. There are other QB’s, non running QB’s, that have average or worse passer ratings and the teams still win all the time. Tua has no such luxury. Either Tua plays perfectly and elite or the Dolphins lose.
I agree and that is why you need to fire McDaniel and Grier the moment the last second of this miserable season ticks down to zero.
I agree with Grier. I’m willing to give McD at least another season or two. I wrote this before, but Shanahan had 3 losing seasons in his first 4. His 3rd was a SB loss, but his next season was a losing one. And this season the 49ers have the same record as the Dolphins.
Guys, I am willing to admit that I was wrong about Chris Grier. Did you see that Channing Tindall special teams tackle?
Yes, he most definitely has. In my opinion we have our guy and that's a huge monkey off of our back. He just needs to stay healthy and he needs to get over the hump against these elite teams of the league. He'll get there, it'll just take a few trials. This is also very much a team sport. I'm not worried at all about this franchise as long as he's healthy and on his feet. We had a chance yesterday. That's all you can ask for. Tua gives us the opportunity to beat any team in this league.
Agree. We're going to get there. I mean since he's been here we've been right in the thick of making the postseason each year. With him, we're never out of "it." This just simply was a down year. The losses to the Colts, Titans, and Cardinals were back breaking.
It took Jared Goff 4 seasons to put up Tua-like numbers. Even though, according to some, he’s had superior coaching and a “tougher” better all around team. This year the Lions defense is ranked 7th in points against. It sure is telling what a good defense can do for a QB, huh?
I can see emotions are still running high from Sunday’s loss and as predicted, fingers are pointing. For those who are damning Tua, let me just put this out there for consideration. There’s no doubt how I feel about our offensive line. I made my opinion known immediately following the game but just to add a few more bullets in my magazine… The Texans defense sacked Tua 5 times, pressured him 17 times and had 8 tackles for loss. How in God’s name is any quarterback supposed to be effective under those conditions? And before anyone brings up Mahomes, Allen and Jackson and say “they could”, I would then ask, “ok, who else?” Offense is so much more than just the quarterback.
Brady, Manning, Marino, i.e. non-scrambling QB’s wouldn’t have faired much better. Does that mean those guys are no good? Trying to say that Tua isn’t Mahomes is fair, no one is. Saying that Tua isn’t Allen is also fair, no one is. This is why I preach context matters so much. If a QB throws the most perfect pass ever for a game winning TD and the WR drops it, who is at fault? Well, for some here if Tua threw the ball he would be at fault. The ability to have hindsight isn’t some great thing. And it seems like some here live off of that trait. Looking only at wins and losses is also not a complete picture of individual play. Yet some here die on that hill repeatedly.
I haven’t watched Kyle Crabb’s breakdown of this game yet. (For those of you that don’t watch film you should look this guy up). Evidently he’s pointing out how on multiple occasions Dolphins’ receivers are running the same routes. Almost like there’s other things involved when an INT is thrown or when a QB has a bad day, huh?
You mean with the Lions. Before that with the Rams (so over his whole career) he put up 100+ ratings in years 2 and 3.
Yes. And after these two years he had 3 below average to average years, two good years, and now is currently playing elite.
Lmao… Dolphins 6-8 with a 103 PR QB: Tua haters- “Tua sucks!” Bengals 6-8 with a 107 PR QB: Tua haters- “Burrow is fantastic!” So transparent.
Burrow in 3 games against The Ravens and steelers 12tds.That is 4 a game if u can multiply. 30 plus points all 3 games. Can't win when Defence gives up 35 plus. Dolphins defence 186yds against Texans. Tua led offence 12 pts.
And 0-3 Oh wait, you mean stats and not wins/losses matter for Burrow but not for Tua? Talk about dumb.
Who said anything about taking Tua or Burrow? Your straw man doesn’t work. Your bias and inconsistency won’t work. Just admit you’re a Tua hater and hold him to a higher/different standard.
And until now you’ve always been a wins/losses guy. Well, you flipped back and forth when it suits your narrative from reply to reply. Tua had a 124 and 114 passer rating against the Bills and Packers (arguably better teams than the Ravens and Steelers, respectively) and you said he didn’t do enough because the Dolphins lost and claimed that “he” can’t beat good teams. Then you admire Burrows great stats and excuse the losses on his defense and oline. Just admit that you’re dishonest and hate Tua.
Oh here we go. The difference is points.I will take Td passes over Qb rating any day of the week. Pts is what matters not garbage stats in 2nd half against packers where they never had any shot of winning. We scored 17 pts Packers they scored 17 pts and were never in the game I will take Tds and any smart person would over Qb rating especially when they didn't score 30 pts in any of those games. Bengals did all three only to have defence let them down. Really its not rocket science. Anyone else want to chime in and defend this guy? Starting to bore me.
