Glad our season is still alive. Losing that would have been enough reason to fire McD.

10-7 and a WC berth still (barely) doable! Go Phins!

I've told my wife that when I die before her (which she still doesn't think is going to happen) to hire either Dan Newlin or Morgan and Morgan to sue to the Dolphins. My blood pressure is through the roof!!! :sidelol:

I know I've said winning is winning, whether you win by a point or a touchdown but Jesus this game was stressful. I know divisional games are ALWAYS tough ones, but I didn't expect it to be THIS tough!

This was a great win for the Dolphins but they have got to play complimentary football for 60 full minutes. You can't have the offense playing great and the defense like crap and vice versa. This team is way too talented to play half a$$ed football. When the offense is on, they're ON...when they defense is on, they're ON but it's been too much one on and one off. That doesn't bode well for a team and their post season hopes.

    Glad we won.

That being said, it was a trash game against a trash team, and we had to go into OT. Certainly gives me no thoughts that a playoff game will have different results than the most recent ones we had.

We've now won 14 out of last 17 against the Jets (since 2016).

That's one thing we can thank Gase, Flores and McDaniel for.. beating the Jets consistently.

This is the reason though why true Dolphins fans hate the Jets the most. Whether the Jets are an awesome team or whether they suck the sweat off of a camel's balls, they are always a tough team to play within our division. It's always that way against them!

But I do agree with ya Res...if the Dolphins don't play more definitely against teams like the Jets, our playoff exit is going to be swift, provided we even make the playoffs.

Offense showed resiliency and made the plays at the end to win what looked like a loss. Gotta give them credit for making plays when it mattered most.

If I lived in the Miami area, like my nephew does…and learning exactly how season tickets work, I’d pay the $150 per month for season tickets and be there at every game!

Younger folks either don’t know or are too wrapped up in superficial things to appreciate the fact they have a professional sports team they can easily go see each week.

Never been to a Dolphins game in Miami (preseason against Atlanta in Orlando several years ago) but I’d give up one of my testicles to see a game in Miami. Just don’t know if I’d give up the left or right one.

I personally don't agree with hating the Jets the most. They have been most insignificant team in the division forever.
For me it was Bills in nineties and Pats in 2000s.
    Now it Bills again.

I get that due to how good they were/are but when it comes to advancing our seasons, the Jets have always been that thorn in our side.

    The Marino/O’Brien shootout
The Jumbo Elliott tackle eligible TD

    They’ve always been that thorn!

I hate that alot more than a team that hasn't beaten us in Miami since 2014.

Monday Night Miracle. 30 points in 4th quarter (2nd largest 4th quarter comeback ever). I was in NYC at the time. The dread.

Had we won it's possible we end 12-4 and have the 2nd seed in the playoffs instead of having to play a WC. Not sure of tiebreakers but that was a distinct possibility.

Yeah man, agree with this. I'm hoping we can still find a consistent groove to finish this out. As in consistent play on both sides (like you mentioned). It's a tall task, and this team is routinely known for failure in the colder months of the season, but as a fan I'm going to ride with em. Who knows? Maybe we can smooth this out.
As for today, I don't know why anyone would think this was going to be an easy win. Yeah the Jets are bad, but Aaron Rodgers is still dangerous and he's owned us throughout his career. I expected a loss to be completely up front with this. I thought that this would be a loss and a nail in our coffin. Glad to see we're still hanging. If we somehow find a way to wild card our way into the playoffs despite the tumultuous tour this has been, it'll be totally worth it.

The Skylar Thompson game that got us into the playoffs was another one. Just a sloppy dog fight.

The Jets have most definitely always been our biggest rival in that division.

The stream I was watching switched to the Rams' game mid-way through what turned out to be the winning drive, so I missed the final TD.

    Bloody typical!

You British and your slang! :sidelol:

I joke around with my brother in law who’s from the UK, Rugby area that if it weren’t for Americans, the English language would never be spoken properly. At least we can pronounce the letters R and T and the word Secretary properly:sidelol:

But to the point, yes there do seem to be quite a few “pikey like” Bills fans.

Tua has four interceptions on the season. Three of them came in week 2 against the Bills. He's had a great year despite the early absence.

And two of those came with practice squad players playing key roles in causing the interceptions. Dolphins and Tua desperately needed a 3rd receiving option. And now they have Smith and Achane to compliment Waddle and Hill.

The Dolphins have been called a soft team at multiple points this season, but they showed some spine on Sunday.

After taking a 15-13 lead into halftime, they gave up 10 straight points to find themselves down eight to the Jets in the fourth quarter. They forced a punt to get the ball back with just over 13 minutes to play and in need of a touchdown that would allow them to keep any hope of making the playoffs alive for at least another week. In his postgame media session, wide receiver Tyreek Hill called that the turning point in the game.

“Yeah, there was. Actually when we were down 23-15, when we were trotting back on the field, everybody knew what was at stake at that moment,” Hill said, via a transcript from the team. “We know if we lose, it’s over. Our season is over. Unfortunately we’ve got a lot of great guys on this team who don’t want to end our season in January and watch other teams play because we have the capability to play with a lot of teams in this league. We just played ball, man, when it mattered the most. We executed.”

Hill would catch a touchdown from Tua Tagovailoa at the end of that drive and the Dolphins tied the game on a two-point conversion. There would be more drama in the final minutes of regulation, but the Dolphins forced overtime and then won on tight end Jonnu Smith’s 10-yard touchdown catch.

The Miami Dolphins were supposed to beat the New York Jets in Week 14. And more importantly, they needed the win if they wanted any shot at making the playoffs.

While they needed overtime, the Dolphins did just enough to send the Jets back to New Jersey with a loss, keeping their playoff hopes alive. Miami trailed for much of the second half, but scored a touchdown to tie the game in the fourth quarter and hit another at the end of regulation to tie it up again. Then in overtime, the Dolphins put together a 70-play touchdown to get a 32-26 win.

As the final score suggests, Miami did most of its damage on the offensive end. The Dolphins tied the game late in the fourth quarter and kept the ball out of New York’s hands entirely in the extra period.

Here’s how we graded each unit:

    Offense: B+
Without their offense, the Dolphins might not have any playoff hopes left to hold onto. The Miami offense won the team the game. The Dolphins scored on all four of their possessions in the first half — a touchdown and three field goals. While the offense cooled off in the second half, it still mustered a touchdown and a field goal, just enough to send the game to overtime.

And when Miami started with the ball in overtime, Tua Tagovailoa and his weapons took advantage of their opportunity to ice the game, scoring a touchdown to prevent New York from getting a shot on offense.

Tagovailoa was stellar in the victory, tallying 331 yards and two touchdowns while taking no sacks in the game and throwing no interceptions. He and his receivers were in sync all day; Tyreek Hill caught 10 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown, and Jaylen Waddle hauled in nine passes for 99 yards. While tight end Jonnu Smith didn’t put up the same numbers that he has put up the past few weeks, he came to life in overtime and had the game-winning touchdown.

The pass game was on all day, but the same can not be said for the rushing attack. The Dolphins ran the ball 19 times for 44 yards — 2.3 yards per carry. Even without Raheem Mostert, that’s inexcusable.

But with the success of the passing game, the rushing attack didn’t need to do much.

    Defense: C-

The Miami defense should be thankful it didn’t have to trot onto the field one more time. If New York started overtime with the ball, the Dolphins would probably be more focused on who to select in the upcoming draft than what to do to get to the playoffs.
The Jets scored on their first five full drives. By the end of the day, New York had two touchdowns and four field goals in eight full-length drives. While the Dolphins didn’t break all that often, they bent more than enough to let a three-win Jets team give them real trouble.

They let a 41-year old Aaron Rodgers have the best performance of his season — 27 completions for 339 yards and a touchdown. And even without star running back Breece Hall, the Jets had 21 rushes for 83 yards and a touchdown.

    Special Teams: A

Miami’s special teams unit was just as important as the offense in Sunday’s win over the Jets. Even while being relied on all game, the unit had only one big mistake all game long. Sanders drilled all four of his field goal attempts, but a missed extra point forced the team to go for two later in the game, which could have been the difference between overtime and a loss.

Punter Jake Bailey also had a strong outing Sunday with two of his three points going inside the 20-yard line. Bailey averaged nearly 50 yards per punt with a game-high of 56 yards. Rookie receiver Malik Washington even averaged more than 30 yards per kick return, including a 45-yard return with less than a minute left in the game. If not for Sanders’ one blip, Miami’s special teamers would have had an essentially perfect day.

    Coaching: B+

Another week, another solid offensive performance and disappointing defensive performance.

Head coach Mike McDaniel deserved more credit for what his offense did on Sunday. He picked the right moments to be aggressive and negated a missed extra point attempt. The Dolphins converted on both fourth down attempts and completed a two-point conversion late in the game to send it to overtime.

Anthony Weaver’s defense, though, struggled yet again. Even at home in Miami, the defense let a previously struggling 41-year old Rodgers dice it up after he’s struggled to find a rhythm all season.

McDaniel did a great job with the offense, but Weaver’s defense has to improve.

    Overall: B

While the team put together a good win that showed it can perform well late in games, the Dolphins never should have been at this point.

Miami is a playoff-hopeful team, while the Jets went into the meeting at 3-9 and didn’t have a general manager or the team’s original head coach. Miami has no excuse for letting New York hang around.

Even with the win being a crucial one, this isn’t the kind of performance fans hope to see from a team they hope can be a serious contender. If Miami had this kind of performance against the Buffalo Bills, it would be praised. Instead, they barely grabbed a win against the Jets.

I pulled this out of a Club post. From the Jets Message Board:

    - I expected a loss and yet somehow I’m still disappointed
    - I'm so pissed that I let these *******s temporarily convince me we were going to win an absolutely meaningless game that I would have later been mad we won as it'd **** up out draft status. Lol
    - I'm dead inside to this team. I knew the whole game they'd find a way to lose it and even though it took OT, they pulled through to meet my lowly expectations.
    - Rodgers missed a wide open GW that could’ve ended it. Then a completion to Davante but his dumb *** isn't smart enough to stay in bounds and gets tackled out of bounds to stop the clock to give plenty of time for Tua to get them down the field. Then special teams gives up a fkn huge kickoff return and the defense can’t stop **** for two straight possessions. Just so painful to be a fan of the dumbest damn team in the NFL.
    - Some of you guys really are idiots. We all knew we were losing this game. Let it go. It's ok.
    - Lol who gives a ****. A win doesn't do anything for us. Keep losing baby!
    - Nothing stops this tank!
    - This team's identity is to find ways to lose
    - Felt absolutely nothing after taking an L to the Goddamn hated Dolphins. The Jets have finally completely broken me.
    - Jonnu Smith was invisible all game and then all of a sudden OT rolls around and he's unstoppable. They sandbagged us.
    - It because we are constantly out coached in every game. McDaniels got Jeff today. We'll have a better coach next year.
    - The Jets have been eliminated from playoff contention following their overtime loss to the Dolphins. This is their 14th consecutive season missing the playoffs, extending the longest active playoff drought across the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, and WNBA.
    - 14 years with no playoffs... fvck this team of losers
    - 14 years so far!!
    - Only 6 years till it's 20! Goals baby!
    - 05 and 07 were disappointing. 2017 was rough. 2020 was hell. But this is finally the season that I just don't GAF anymore.
    - With 2 more losses, it will be the 7th time in the last decade the Jets have failed to get to even six wins. Let that sink in.
    - Jets football man…. Jets gonna Jets. /smh
    - What a summer this season was
    - They have the same record as the Carolina Panthers baby lets goooooooo
    - L OH Fkn L at you idiots that were convinced we were going to win this meaningless game. We're the laughing stock of the NFL for reason.
    - i despise this team with every fiber of my being. I should be a bills fan but fk that ****** team too.
    - A competitive loss that does not affect our draft position? That is the way! Keep it up boys
    - Fellas, that's what we call a High Quality loss. Competetive enough to lose without being a complete embarassment and we improved our draft position. That's about as good as it gets for jets fans!
    - Enjoy this fantastic loss. We get a new GM, HC, and draft position.
    - Aaron had his best game as a Jet today. Just how many backups did Miami have in the game? Lol
    - Blame Rodgers all you want. Mahomes couldn't have played any better today.
    - As a 38yo DIE HARD fan of this god forsaken franchise - I have never cared less about the future of this team. Fk them.
    - Ulbrich is somehow worse than Adam Gase. How is this possible?
    - Can't wait to see what sucker they find to be the new HC. We're a terrible organization. The 2 AFC championships were a fluke. It really was a Mangini team that Rex drove into the ground. And ppl are wanting Rex, that an inept and delusional owner would be stupid enough to hire him back. That's just how the Jets organization works.
    - Shailene Woodley said that her relationship with Rodgers made her lose her soul, happiness and joy. She was depressed and it was lowest point in her life being in a relationship with him. As Jets fan, I completely get it.
    - Rodgers is such a Karen. He really is. Unless there's a completion for a big game, he's a total *****. So tired of his antics.
    - Vrable and Ben Johnson won't come here. Our choice will be something like Eric Bieniemy, Eberflus, or Matt Patricia.
    - We had better success against Marino back in the day that we do Tua. How doesn't this guy own us?
    - The refs protect Tua more than they do Rodgers. Q barely breathed on him and got flagged. That's how.
    - The league definitely tries to protect Tua. They're scared he'll end up with scrambled eggs for brains.
    - Tua is ok, but he gets carried by his skill players. Even Tyrod would florish in Miami.
    - If AR isn't here after this season, what do we do at quarterback? Tyrod and a draft pick?
    - The same thing we've done every time. We'll take a promising young QB and completely ruin them, then run them out of town and pine for them while they find success with another team. This is the Jets way.
    - We could end up with Deshaun Watson... so yeah. We'll be fine. /cries to myself
    - This idiot team trades for DW and that'd do it for me as a fan. Jesus, even a jaded old jackass jet fan has limits.
    - We still have Tyrod. Get rid of AR and let Tyrod try to develop a younger guy.
    - Great... think Fitzmagic would suit up for again? Geez, some of you guys are off the deep end
