Eagles fans were screaming for Nick Sirianni to be fired after 3 straight playoff appreances and almost beating Chiefs in Superbowl. Fans are typically impatient and especially fans that havent seen a playoff win in 25 years.
Frustrating on some levels I understand... But when you see that the current configuration is not going to get it done...What else is there to do? Honest question: Do you think we are going to the Superbowl this season? Hill and Ramsey two of our most important players are on the wrong side of 30 and will only decline from here on out. mostert is on his way out... (Wright does look pretty promising) So next year is not going to be any easier... Even if we have a decent draft. So if you realise that this team is not going to win anything for the next few seasons and you have a bunch of older overpaid players... What do you do? Keep the team intact and play out the next 3 seasons averaging 9 wins a year? Or accept that this team cannot win and get to work to build a better one now?
Honest question #2 So keep the team intact as is for the next couple of seasons and get the same results as we have had the last 2+ years. or commit to a rebuild so that in 3-4 years you get to the superbowl Which would you pick?
No. It was clearly you and your clown posse. It's the same s--t with almost any thread since the off season. Seriously, what do you have to contribute except for spewing ignorant nonsense about others? You're a total imbecile. You really think you're being witty and smart. It's amazing. As I said, you're just a boring, ordinary, ignorant goof. Who gives a s--t if he deletes some of your posts? Clearly not enough and he constantly sides with you, supporting your lame trolling. Five posts a day?? You've already broken your daily quota just in this thread alone, you BSer. Get out more, man. Maybe go sit outside, put on some Bach and paint some birdhouses or some s--t. Maybe you can make some aqua and orange colored bird houses.
Holy hell are you dumb. You derailed your own thread. It’s there for anyone to see. I’ve been here for 10 years. I have ~ 17,600 posts. Do the math, dolt. About 4.8 posts per day on average. Do you understand that? Finatik sides with me almost never. lol… He is as impartial as they come. He disagrees with things and he agrees with thngs… no matter the poster. You keep crying and being stupid. It’s funny.
OMG. Lol You are just such an idiot. No, it is clearly you imbeciles who derailed it like you are continuing to do right now and like you have done in almost every thread since you popped back into the mains. This is nothing new. Just about every thread. You're such an obvious and boring troll. Take my suggestion about the Bach and the bird houses.
Even though the scheme was right and the QB couldn't execute? Receivers open but missed because the 5th string QB just signed last week to replace the two that were lost the week before. OK. He doesn't actually play in the game. If the X's and O's are right and the players aren't executing correctly it's partially on him but it's partially on the talent.
You should’ve named this thread only if you believe what I believe can you post thread. I think we’ve identified Crazy towns mayor. By the way, I resigned as the mod so the job is open. Go ahead and step right up oh that’s right you don’t even pay to keep the site going so I guess it won’t be you.
Look dude… you do a good job. Don’t let the trolls win. I know I’m a big part of your hassles here, but you’ve got to see the pattern here. The past two seasons these people rarely posted. They’re not here to give any useful insight or even be a fan of the Dolphins. They’re here to troll. Plain and simple. They crave the attention they get by posting the most ludicrous and unreasonable things possible. If you want to quit I understand, but you’ve done a good job. If you still want to quit, maybe put in a good word for me. I’ll take over. Lol
I dont think we can win with Mcdaniels but like you said, tua and mcdaniels are a package deal. We are not going to be able to rid ourselves of his contract. And putting a third head coach on Tua in his short career so far, unless it is someone he is very familiar with, wont do him well.
No there no guarantees in life.... So that is a fair point... Okay so we agree that the Superbowl is the goal. So back to Honest question #1... Do you think this team is going to win the Superbowl? If the answer is no... Then we need to make changes. Even if there is no guarantee that the changes will all work like we hope. If the answer to winning the superbowl with this team is no... Then all we can do is make changes and try to construct a better team with a better chance of winning the superbowl. Not doing anything is only going to end up with us going through the motions mired in mediocrity.
I am not going to disagree that when you have injuries and second string players are out there... It plays a part of it... I stand by my original take though.
No, the Chiefs are winning the Superbowl. I'm not giving up on the division though with this team nearing full strength. Contrary to what people think, the offensive line is playing really well and the defense is playing really well. I think Buffalo loses in Seattle this week. I think Miami beats Arizona then finally beats Buffalo in two weeks. They would only be a half game out of first place. I don't think Buffalo is that good. They have beaten up on bad teams and looked dreadful against good teams. Sound familiar? They are not nearly as talented as they have been in the past few years.
Several teams look good... The Ravens looked pretty damned good last night against a decent Bucs squad... Henry has not lost a step... Bateman is finally living upto his potential... That offence is absolutely rolling.
I actually think this may be the Ravens year, not the Chiefs. Not this year. Miami’s game against Arizona this week is going to be telling. If the offense suddenly shows up and DESTROYS the Cardinals, then it’s quite possible the division is indeed up for grabs. However… If offense is anemic with Tua back, whether or not we win the game, it’s going to be a tough road for the Dolphins this season. As for those asserting it’s time to blow everything up and start from scratch again? I have a post on my laptop I’m working on that will sum up my thoughts on the subject.
My faith turned watching the all-22's on X the last few days. The passing plays were there to be made. Receivers were running open all over the place, they just didn't have a quarterback to make the decision to throw the ball. We know Tua can. We just have to hope that he's not rusty. He said in his press conference that he has been working out and throwing for the whole time he was out. I hope McDaniel sticks to the run, add in a couple of chunk passing plays that were there to be made the last few weeks and this team could get off and running.
If getting to the playoffs was simply because he was the new kid on the block, and no one had him figured out yet, then the playoff appearances are relatively meaningless, imo.
Any particular reason why my post struck a nerve and hit home with you.? Other than the obvious, of course.
No nerve at all.... LOL I think you posted that nobody would respond... We may not agree on everything... I am not scared to respond... LOL It is just that simple.
This ... Exactly This. After a few games last year and the 70 burger we dumped on the hapless Broncos... Teams started to adapt to us and we saw the offence struggle in the second half. So McD had the opportunity to show us that he was more than a one trick pony show with the offence. He had a whole offseason to show us that he could adapt But as of right now.... Almost half way through this season, we have not seen any indication from McD that he is capable of growth or that he can adapt and overcome other teams Nickel packages...
LMAO Really... Multiple Superbowl Appearances Now you are just arguing to argue... Please consider how silly your position on this is. The initial analogy made between the 49ers and the Dolphins was ridiculous because the 49ers were arguably the worst team in football 2-14 record and they were committed to a multi year rebuilding process McD was brought here to take over a winning team with the franchise QB and #1 receiver already in place... Then before he ever coached a game they brought in a #1 running back and another #1 receiver ( Maybe the best in football) So they could try to get to the superbowl right away. (with an above average defence.) So here we are on this supposed dream team year 3 and we are 2-4 with zero playoff wins. As I said in a previous post.... Comparing these 2 situations is like Comparing a Lada to a Lamborghini because both car brands start with the Letter "L" You continuing to make excuses for McD is just laughable at this point.
I understand the frustration. I get it. I've been watching the Dolphins religiously since 1972 and for the past 20 years, we've not been the team we once were. It's frustrating when you see how we offensively dominated the league during McDaniel's first 2 years in the league only to see us struggle like we have been this season. I want to pose a question however. What do the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers all have in common? The answer is tenured head coaches! Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh, Andy Reid, Sean McDermott, Kyle Shannahan and Matt LaFleur having all been the head coach of the respective teams from 8 years to 18 years. No one would objectively say these aren't great teams. No one would objectively say these aren't great head coaches and no one can objectively say these head coaches and teams have had their struggles under their current head coaches (save Andy Reid...I'll get to him separately). Take Mike Tomlin for example. His first two seasons as the Steelers head coach he enjoyed success, but his 3rd season, a dismal 9-7 season. Did Steeler fans call for his head? Longing for the days on Cowher again? Sure they did, but the Steelers stuck with Tomlin. He's had successful seasons and he's had mediocre 8-8 seasons, but still here he remains, one of the league's elite teams. John Harbaugh initially enjoyed success in Baltimore, having inherited a good team from Brian Billick, but he has dismal seasons. Sean McDermott's initial seasons in Buffalo along with Kyle Shannahan and Matt LeFleur. Andy Reid, although has had nothing but success in Kansas City surely had his struggles in Philadelphia. Mike McDaniel comes to Miami as a rookie head coach, accumulates a 9-8 record his first season and makes the playoffs, turning around one of the league's poorer offenses. His second season, he accumulates an 11-6 record, showing definitive improvement from his first already successful season. Now in season 3, faced with adversity and having to deal with a poorer season as all of these other great head coaches have had to and everyone is already wanting to cut sling load, blow the whole damned thing up and start from scratch? We've been doing that and it's not worked out too well. As the fan of any team in any sport, you're going to have good seasons and bad seasons. The problem with Dolphins fans howeveris we've endured so many bad seasons that once we have a taste of success, we're already storming the village with torches and pitchforks at the first sign of adversity following that taste of success.
I think you forget something... By the way great post... The steelers reference..... The disappointing season was 9-7... for us that would be a successful season... LOL If we get to 9 wins this year in a 17 game season people will clamour for McD not to be fired... and make excuses for him. You just hit the nail on the head. Every other successful franchise expects more than we do We have lost and sucked for so long that we do not demand more. 25 years without a playoff win and No outrage... Grier has been here for over 20 years and no playoff wins and no mass protests with torches and pitchforks demanding he be fired.... Hell there are people here that turn purple arguing that he is fantastic. We just do not know what winning is anymore. You mention McD getting to the playoffs his first year... It was the exact same record that Flores had the year before and he got fired for it. AND McD for his first game as a head coach got the benefit of Tyreek Hill and Mostert at their peaks playing the best football of their lives. So he had a lot more talent to work with on the offence. Yet still had the same record. But because we somehow lucked into the playoffs he is some kind of genius? Come on...
When it comes to advocating for continuity, I would argue that we should have stuck with Flores. He was a no-nonsense old school type of coach that wouldn't be treating players as equals. His problem was that he wanted to win and didn't see eye to eye with Grier and Ross on how to go about it.
I was angry when they let Flores go. Then I learned what he did. He wasn’t fired for the reasons you’re claiming. He was fired because he actively tried to sabotage Tua’s career, ran Minkah off, and was pretty much despised as a person by the majority of players and staff. He literally went days without speaking a word to his assistants. He sent game day texts to players like “don’t suck today”… and worse. He wasn’t ready to be a HC.
Flores was brought to Miami under false pretenses. Every assistant dreams about his big shot to move up to the big office and Flores was no different. He has a half dozen SB rings to prove that he knows what he's doing so, to bring him in and ask him to throw away his reputation on a tank season surely must have rubbed him the wrong way to begin with and then to be butting heads with a clown like Grier surely must have led to many sleepless nights. Minkah left because he didn't want to waste his talents on a "tank for Tua" campaign. Flores could see from the get-go that Tua was too soft for the NFL just as many here are beginning to see it. No, Flores wasn't ready to be a HC, neither was Gase, Philbin, Cam, or McD. Even Campbell wasn't ready. The conversation was about continuity and who do you stick with to give them a chance to develop. We'll never know for sure now and my opinion is just that, a feeling that Flores would have grown just as that I have this feeling that McD will never develop into the type of personality that commands the respect of younger men that physically tower over him.
Minkah didn't want to be here because he didn't like how Flores was using him on the field. He was crying about being moved around so they traded him. And Flores went right to the race card when he was fired by a black GM. Make that make sense. Then he starts with accusations Ross offered him money to lose. He was toxic to Tua and the rest of his staff. He's a piece of sh!t.
You really think that Flores is the only one to blame for what happened back then? The race card thing was definitely overblown from his side and he is to blame as well but I‘m pretty sure Ross and Grier are to be blamed as well (probably more then Flores). Calling Flores a piece of **** is a little bit much and not all people hated him in that locker room, that’s for sure! Flores did more with less and he‘s a great defensive coordinator!
Oh come now, Grier didn't fire Flores. Grier is nothing but a brown nose boot licker. Ross fired Flores, Grier just carries the water bucket. As far as racism in the NFL, it's pretty evident even if not explicitly spelled out on their website. That's why you can count the number of black head coaches on one hand and coaches like Hue Jackson and Flores are brought in to tank a season, their careers are considered expendable.
Nice post full of good logic. I will say this. I have clamored for Grier's head on a pike at the front gate, not McDaniel's. That said I have big issues with McDaniel's offensive philosophy he has shown, but a big part of that play calling could come down to the tools Grier has given him to work with. The man may be capable of a Mona Lisa, but he's been forced to work with water colors that lack depth if you get the analogy. If not our O line and QB rooms are the water colors. I also have a big problem with dumping a head coach (Flores) to bring in one who is there to serve one player, namely the young QB you drafted. When hiring a head coach you should be looking for the guy who can put together a disciplined and focused hard nosed team, and that can put together a game plan to be competitive no matter who is playing QB. No matter if your stud RB gets hobbled, or your number one receiver is out, or your beast of a center has to go out for the season. This year Tomlin has shown he can do that. He does not have the O-line he planned on, did not have the star QB they brought in to take them to the next level, but he has moved dudes around, and elvated backups, and the are still one of the best and most physically imposing O-lines in the league with their QB back on the field and hot on the heels of the Ravens who are one of the best teams in the AFC. McDaniel has evidenced an inability to do so, just as he has evidenced an inability to make mid season and mid game adjustments when the reality is not conducive to his philosophy and play calling. In a dynamic environment such as this where injuries happen at crucial positions, and where player egos can at times lead to them phoning it in over either contract or ball distribution you need a coach who can put together a disciplined and focused team set on overcoming those hurdles. I have not seen that from McDaniel. While I do not want to necessarily see McDaniel fired after this year, I do want to see Grier fired yesterday. And that stays the same whether or not that means we find a GM that wants to or is willing to work with McDaniel going forward, or we hire a new GM that wants to bring in his own hand picked head coach. While I believe McDaniel deserves a chance with a quality GM who can put together an offensive line worth fielding, I am not willing to stick by him to the detriment of our ability to bring in a great GM who can right our ship at its most foundational level, our offensive and defensive lines. If McDaniel is the sticking point in the way of us bringing in the best GM we can get, then McDaniel has to go to. If not, then I am perfectly good with giving him a couple years with a new GM to build a team. I also need to say the big difference between McDaniel and those other coaches is while they have all had bad years, they have also shown the ability to win under less than ideal odds. They have lost star quarterbacks, receivers, had horrible injuries deplete their lines, but have still remained competitive. Look at Mike Tomlin again. While the Steelers have had some bad years he had been able to win big games with rookies and less then stellar QB play. Also as of recent years a bad season for the Steelers would count as a decent year for the Dolphins all things being relative. Andy Reid's team this year objectively is not even near the same quality as it was last year, Mahomes' play has been spotty, and yet somehow they are the last man standing of the undefeated teams. McDaniel himself through his performance this year has raised the question of whether or not he can do the same.
After the 1st 5 years. It fits perfectly. The 1st 5 years one playoff appearance for niners. You just over look that.
100%. Nobody expected the Vikings to be one of the last undefeated teams this year. Flores has done enough on the field each week to prove Ross and Grier were wrong to fire him in the name of coddling a QB who is not even an elite player. Even if he were the elite QB some want him to be as the GM if he were doing his job then Grier would call a meeting, sit down with both men, and tell them you are both adults, no pouting, no pointing fingers, no excuses, put your heads together, put your egos behind you, and put this f**king team in the playoffs. Are we good here? OK, then get to work.
I don’t know, there was a lot of noise in the background, Flores is gone and he ain’t coming back. All we can hope for is that a) Ross gets lucky in finding a competent GM or b) Ross sells the team. I don’t think we’re going anywhere with Grier.
