I know my two cents is probably worth less than that, but wt-? ..and a lot of this is the same stuff that’s being echoed all around the different sport media outlets. Guys. It is over. We can’t fool ourselves any longer. It’s time to just wake up and smell the stank of the s—ty coffee. It just is what it is. Unfortunately, it is over. This whole project, this whole regime, etc. It’s over. Time to start again. Demolition Day ahead. I’m not even trying to instigate anyone or being negative just for the sake of just being negative. It’s just my honest opinion. It’s a failed experiment and it’s over. McDaniels: I hadn’t had a real problem with him until this season, but he has truly been exposed this season for a guy who is simply not ready to be a HC. He hadn’t even been a successful coordinator before he was hired. He was the run game coordinator in SF and was only allowed to call some run plays on his own in his last year there, but no pass plays. This is really a huge problem with him, and it’s been evident in every game this season. This last game, man.. All the penalties? I think something like 67% were pre snap penalties. That’s on him. What was it? ..like 6 penalties for 60 yards or something like that? That’s an undisciplined team. That’s on the coach. All the mistakes? They’re mentally week and not concentrating. They’re not disciplined. That’s on him. No one is held accountable. He’s too forgiving and buddy buddy with these guys. Julian Hill among several others shouldn’t even be playing anymore. No accountability. It’s a joke. He does not know how to call a game. He’s learning on the job. He can’t yet grasp all the intricacies of calling a game. He has no counter moves, etc. He’s not ready. He was a run game coordinator. That’s his specialty. Jaylen Wright looked very good in the previous game, but he decides not to use him in this past game until the second half? Ingold was a better option on some on those plays? Wt-? He’s just lost right now. No accountability for his staff. Embree and Crossman? Wt-? How are they still employed? 10 points in the first half. 150 passing yards against one of the worst defenses in the league. He has to go He had two weeks to prepare for one of the worst Ds in the league and that’s what we got? The Time out? 2nd and goal from the three, and he decides to call a pass? He needs to stop focusing on his Gucci wardrobe, and man up. This is just a fraction of what I could point out. Grier: This season couldn’t be a clearer example for why he is such an utter disaster as a GM. His ingenious plan is really paying off. I mean….c’mon, it’s over. It’s not like he wasn’t given a fair chance. He must go. What other evidence could anyone possibly need to admit that he needs to go? Go from the Tunsil trade to the 2020 draft to all the extensions and massive contracts given out this past offseason to all these high priced acquisitions, etc, etc, etc, and this is it? The backup QB situation? No need to explain about this one, but knowing Tua’s history of injuries and missed games, Grier was comfortable going into the season with Skylar Thompson and Todd Boyle as Tua’s security blankets just as he was comfortable going into the season with this OL. One of the oldest rosters in the league. He makes these free agent signings to cover up for his many draft blunders. It’s over. No sane person, much less any fan of this team, could possibly want to keep this utter disaster of a GM around any longer. It’s just over. I was ranting how mistakes like the 2020 draft can set this franchise back many years and all we can do is just hope we get extremely lucky somewhere along the way. Look where we are now. That’s exactly what’ s happening. Tua: All of this talk about how this shows how great Tua must really be is insane. It’s really reaching and grasping at straws. It does nothing of the sort. He had years, thousands of reps in an offensive designed specifically for him as opposed to say Huntley, who had how many reps in this offense? It’s also an offense that has clearly been figured out by the league and we have nothing else. After the offseason with Tua getting the big contract, with him working so hard to get fit and ripped and not be the undisciplined, chubby little “art form”, to finally getting to see him “threaten the D with his legs”, and…… How did that work out? It’s over. He’s just not physically or mentally built for the NFL. Unfortunately, that’s just the reality. After the Barfalo game even the Tuanonners here all admitted that it was over. Not to sound insensitive, but in a way, the concussion was the best thing that could have happened to him. It completely changed public perceptions. It completely diverted the attention away from what some don’t want to admit; that he was terrible before the concussion. We had no chance in that game with him and, imo, he was bad in the first game against one of the worst teams in the league. We could barely beat the Jags and were extremely fortunate and yes, lucky considering the time and circumstance of the play, to get out of there with a win. Don’t forget that Ross and the bald headed flying rearenda got busted and lost picks for the team trying to find a replacement for Tua. So even they themselves weren’t sold on Tua. That’s important to remember. So, they were forced to find a way to make it work with him and that was clearly McDaniel’s mandate when hired. So, it’s just over. Stick with your initial gut instincts. He is never going to be “the guy”. Sucks. Are we expecting that maybe by year 9 or something, he will finally be able to shake off the injury/concussion thing and poor performances to finally lead us to a Superbowl? …a playoff win? C’mon. Time to just rip the Band-Aid off, let the demons bleed out and start over. lol. Yes, it sucks big time, but we just should just face this reality now and stop fooling ourselves. No more BS. It’s over. As of now, I don’t even really like the crop of top QBs who will be coming out of college next year. So………bottoms up, mofo’ers. Thanks bros.
I'm not disagreeing but here's the problem. If McDaniel and Grier go Tua will still be here. It's obvious at this point he's not retiring and his contract is guaranteed for the next few years. McDaniel and Tua are a package deal. If you don't think Tua is "the guy" now what do you think happens with a new coach? I don't see any changes unless Tua gets another nasty concussion and decides enough is enough. If Tua retires all options are on the table but again it doesn't look like he's going to retire anytime soon.
Chances are very good if it's not a concussion it will something else.He is fragile and this ****ty line does his him no favors.
They should have refused to a long term contract and franchised him for a year to see if he could repeat his one solid year again. If he did, then cool give him a good, but not that generous contract. If he couldn't, which is where we are now, then offer him a much smaller contract and start looking for our next starting QB AFTER canning Grier and McDaniel in the bye week which Ross stupudly did not do. Tua could stay on as insurance if the new QB did not pan out, or back up if he got injured.
I’m not ready to give up on McD just yet. I think he does some of the whacky play calling to compensate for lack of talent. Get a new GM. Prioritize the OL and backup QB. See what happens…but that means you gotta give McD a couple of seasons.
Thank you for starting this thread. I want to like McD...I really have tried... But this is year three and he routinely gets outcoached. His mistakes cost the Dolphins football games. The game on the field is difficult... You have guys with extra human strength and power smashing into each other ripping the ball out from runners... Dropped passes, Fumbles, sack strips happen. We as fans ***** when these things happen but we do not take time to consider that there is a 250+ lb man that can bench press 500 pounds like it was nothing making our favourite players lose the football. I can forgive a fumble or a dropped pass... Because of the brutal physical nature of the game. I cannot forgive the mental mistakes. I cannot forgive the fact that this is year three and McD cannot get plays called in on time. He cannot manage timeouts. The pre snap penalties... The fact that he cannot make in game adjustments to either the offence or the defence. The head coach should never be one of the reasons you lost a football game.... His strength, his leadership, his intelligence should be the reasons you win games. It is unacceptable to be in a close game and have no timeouts left in the second half of the 4th quarter.... It is unacceptable to have delay of game penalties... Year one I sat and watched and as mad as I was at all of the mistakes... I told myself that it was going to be worth it because he was going to coach up Tua and when he was a top NFL QB it was all going to be worth it. (I also told myself that by year 2 the mistakes from McD would start to disappear.) I sat and watched playoff games where we could not get plays called in on time... Where the timeouts got burned and we had delay of game penalties kill scoring drives... Where the head coach was one of the reasons we lost the game. We are seeing our head coach get manipulated and outsmarted on a regular basis. This is year three and we are still seeing the same crap. They went all in.... Got the QB They went all in traded draft picks for Chubb, Ramsey, Hill They went all in signing these guys to record breaking contracts. And it has all been a waste thus far. I am glad someone else started this thread.... These sort of threads can cause division... It is hard when you love a team all of your life to admit that they cannot win and need to start over with a rebuild... For a lot of us... We are not spring chickens and after 40 or 50 years of being a fan we have to swallow the fact that it is going to be another 2 or 3 years before we can compete again ..(Assuming we get another decent young QB in the draft.) So a lot of the time you will see people just accept whatever happens... Hope that somehow next week it is suddenly different. They will defend almost anything the team does. This is a team with older stars... That are in decline.... This is a team with a boatload of really bad contracts. So coming to terms with these things and accepting it is time to change direction and leadership is not pleasant. I am glad I did not start this thread, but it needs to be posted here.
I don’t think it’s anywhere near “over” in regard to McD. A lot of high powered offenses and elite QB’s have been struggling this year. Defenses are definitely doing something different. What’s definitely over is Grier. Not having a serviceable back up QB is criminal. McD has definitely made a mistake in not dumbing down his offense sooner after Tua went down, but the last two weeks the team has rushed for over 350 yards. He’s learned. We lost last Sunday because of turnovers. Not because of poor play calling or penalties. The offensive line has also been OK. I realize that it’s popular to bash them right now, but they don’t deserve the amount of criticism they are getting. Should McVay, Shanahan, or even Reid be fired? Their offenses have been bad to inconsistent. Same with Houston and Philly. And all of these teams have their starting QB’s playing. As for penalties, that’s a product of the new QB’s not being in synch and McD not dumbing down the offense sooner. So McD is partly to blame for that, but that’s not a fireable offense. The QB is snapping the ball too fast and not allowing guys to get set. I do want Grier gone. Tua has decided not to wear the Guardian Cap. Stupid decision. It’s choices like this that make me think that he’s not going to play careful and end up injuring himself again. There’s absolutely no reason for him not to wear the cap. Because of this, I think they need to draft a QB with their first pick. If Tua does learn, and stays injury free, we would have a guy that can sit on the bench and learn for a while. I DO want better guards. I think we need to look at some bigger WR’s in the draft. Along with DB’s. They need to fire Crossman. The ST’s unit has just been awful for years with him coaching. The rest of this year’s schedule looks very doable for a 10-7 or even an 11-6 season. That actually scares me. If that happens they most likely play the WC game away. No QB, other than Mahomes, has a winning record on the road in the postseason. And the only games he’s played on the road in the postseason was last year. His first road game of his career in the postseason was in his 7th postseason and his 16th and 17th postseason games. Allen is 0-3. Jackson is 1-2. Purdy is 0-1. Herbert is 0-1. I’ll never want them to lose, but a 10-7 record may end up being worse than if they finished wi a losing record and get a higher pick.
Changing the coach every 3 years does not lead to a stable environment. Taking the team to the playoffs 2 years in a row, his 1st 2 years and now a little adversity hits and it's "fire the coach". This season isn't even half way done yet. I get it's a message board and these are just discussions but sometimes it's kinda wacky town around here.
Is it over for Shanahan and Purdy in S.F. also ? Just curious. I'm not sugar coating anything, but to assume ,at this point it's all over and the Dolphins are in desperate need of an overhaul, little too early for me to agree to that.
Comparing this Dolphins team to the 49ers team that played one hell of a competitive game in last year's Superbowl, and has made it past the Conference Championship game twice in recent history is one hell of a big stretch. If McDaniel had Shanahan's regular season and playoff record, then his job security would not even be a topic.
The 1st 2 years with Shanahan with the 49rs they didn't even make the playoff or have a winning record. They next year they did, and then the follow 2 years they didn't make the playoffs. According to your logic he should have been fired.
With Shanahan, the 49ers have won their division 3 out of 7 years. In his first 4 they finished 4th, 3rd, 1st, and 4th. Missing the playoffs in 3 out of 4 years. In Reid’s first 5 years in KC, they made the playoffs 4 times. And won a total of 2 playoff games. Going one and done twice out of 4 tries and losing in the divisional round the other 2.
You know, this is such a crap response and a the source of the problems with this site. When I had recently mentioned that a certain post needed to be said, I was, especially referring to the comment about the modding. I should have mentioned that. I was rushing. This is a joke. What do you have to offer? We should just go in circles saying how great everything is? ...and I said that the situation sucks, but it is what it is and denying reality is foolish. I'm not happy about wanting to change coaches, and it wasn't just about the coach. I'm even willing to give him another year with a new GM and QB. I mentioned many other issues, but holding on and not facing reality is just a waste of time and insane. We've been through enough failures to see the signs. Either way, lame response and this type of modding will continue to bring this site down.
lol If what he wrote hurt your feelings maybe the internet isn’t for you. Hell, with what he wrote if it got you this riled up you should probably go and live in a cave and avoid interacting with any living thing.
Wackytown... I like the term... Want to know what else is totally wackytown not winning a playoff game in 25 years and being okay with it. not seeing any improvement or growth from a rookie head coach after 3 seasons.. and not firing him Having a gm that has been part of the organization for 20+ years and only has what 5 seasons where we were above .500 (I would have to look that last one up... I am being lazy as I post this.) And not firing him. That is next level... Past wackytown... and just bad sheet crazy
Ha. You're such clown. It doesn't have me riled up, it was just dumb and contributed nothing as usual. This is just a bunch of the same old crotchety, mullet BS. Do you have anything good to contribute on your own or are you so lame that you just like to argue about others posts? Be original, not some ordinary, boring, crotchety goof. The internet is certainly for you as you apparently do nothing else, but post on a sport website all day complaining about others and I'm sure you do this on other sport websites and probably twitter. What a boring existence. You should try getting out more. Get a hobby. Something. You're a bore.
LMAO You are comparing the Dolphins and their situation to a team that gets to the Superbowl on more than one occasion.. You are NOT comparing apples to apples here man. That is like comparing a Lada to a Lamborghini because both car brands start with the letter "L"
lol.. I average about 5 posts per day. And you’re whining and constant complaining and then proclaiming others to be “crotchety” is comical. You’re too dumb to realize you’re projecting. Finatik wrote absolutely nothing that deserved the response you gave. Unless the person responding isn’t capable of thinking or being rational.
He’s comparing the beginning of a regime to the beginning of another regime. Which is apples to apples. And showing that a longer regime turned out to be damn good and it takes time. You’re too stupid to understand that, however.
It's your reality in your mind on how things are. It might even be others reality. While I'm a mod I'm also a poster. You need to separate those two things. Just becasue I try and keep everyone from going nuts on each other somehow I have to lose my opinion? Is that what you're saying? I get no voice??? I think it is wacky town after each loss the same old fire the coach comes out, and after every win crickets. I also think it is wacky town that changing coaches every 2-3 years doesn't provide any stability to an organization. Again my opinion.
I agree with most of what you wrote, but, we all know nothing is going to happen and Grier and McDaniel are going to be here next season. The only way I see anything happening is, if we continue to suck with Tua and even then I‘m not sure, that Ross would do something.
True on not winning in 25 years but how is that this coaches fault. He got to the playoffs every year he's been here so far. Not seeing an improvement? He went from 10-7 to 12-5. Fire the GM - OK. I'm down with that. What is wackytown is how you all treat each other on this forum.
There’s a pattern that these posters aren’t around when the Dolphins are winning. They’re posting way more this year now that the team is struggling. I wonder why?
Sure, Sigmund. Lol. I'm projecting. Ha. Yes, it certainly did deserve that response and I explained why. It's been a clear problem for awhile. You know this, but you're doing your same boring schtick that I already mentioned. All my points were completely valid, but keep your same boring BS up. Nothing original here. I told you what you should do. Whatever, you goofs keep it up and keep trying to flush your BS and this site down the toilet.
No, according to your cherry picking he should have been fired. My reasoning is that with two Conference Championships, and two Superbowl appearances the first of each in his third year vs the dumpster fire our team is in McDaniel's third year is why the two do not belong in the same conversation.
To hell with that... LOL.... I will play By year three there in SF there was tremendous growth after going through a rebuild.. So you could see night and day improvement across the board. We are not seeing that here.... Thank you for playing. Also When McD came over the front office went all in and surrounded Tua with Elite talent. So Tua had a dynamite backfield and wide receivers... There was no gutting the team... drafting and developing the next round of starters so as to build a competitive team... So even in your comparison you are not comparing similair situations at all. This is a total failure on your part. Let's just post some numbers so this particular experiment can be put to bed. Shannahan was hired the day after the Superbowl... following the 2016 season. Niners record in 2016: 2-14 second worst team in the league. 2-14 But yeah, let us compare his situation as a rookie head coach to that of McD... Where the Dolphins were a winning team with a record of 9-8... Where they already had a Franchise QB and a #1 wideout in place. The niners had to take 2 years to build through the draft starting from scratch.... McD.... got Tyreek Hill and Mostert added to the roster when he took over...So he had the franchise QB... two #1 wideouts and a #1 running back from the onset. This is like comparing tangerines to snow tires... Absolutely ridiculous.
Great post, agree 100% I also don't like the QBs coming out next year. We should fire Grier immediately, start the fire sale now to load up on picks, and tank for manning in 2026.
Man I am good... I had one poster following me around itching to argue and I put that person on ignore... Even if we sometimes disagree... i am cool with everyone else here... It is all smooth sailing. What is truly wackytown is the the same person I had to put on ignore is the person arguing with everyone else other than you lately in just about every thread we have to talk about on the site. I trust you see the pattern here. So yeah sometimes the conversations lose their civility... It is true... But consider the context please.
Right. You don't try to keep everyone from going nuts. You side with the few same goofs and let them do whatever the hell they want and spew the same usesless and moronic bs. It's happening right now. You few clowns have once again derailed yet another thread and have stifled any discussions. Cool. Good job.
It is not just the won and loss record that Warrants the Firing of McD. It is the fact that the problems we saw from him as a rookie head coach are still here unsolved in year 3. He has shown no growth and or improvement. This is a serious red flag. Other teams have figured out his offence and he has shown he cannot adapt... Another serious red flag. So even if we find a way to win 9 games and have a winning record.... There is an excellent argument that his inability to improve, and or grow is limiting this team... He has had 3 years with elite players to take us to the next level... And he failed. If we somehow go on a tear and win 7 of our next ten games and finish 9-8... Many people will be clamoring for McD to keep his job because we finished strong... Not me.. I will remember this game against the Colts where he was outsmarted and outcoached ... and we lost to a bad football team. (and he was a major reason why.) And games like this will end up costing us from the playoffs. And the mistakes that keep getting made keep us from winning when we do somehow manage to make the playoffs. Three years... No growth, no improvement....
You derailed your own thread. Finatik deletes more of my posts than anyone else’s. I’d bet my life on that. You’re just an angry, emotional, and irrational kid.
I'm getting impatient we haven't won a playoff game for 25 years but let's tank for another two years and start a rebuild process in the hopes in another five years we can win a playoff game.
