I don't know about whipping his @$$, I don't want Dan in jail. As for Seattle I like the Seahawks, so that would not be ideal for me. Like I said in a perfect world Grier goes to the Bills, or even better the Jets so they continue to be the NY (Not Yet) Jets we all love to hate on.
We run in bunched running formations on short yardage and then wonder why we can't pick up the first (when we know our OL sucks). Or we decided to do a pitch 5 yards behind the line when we only need 1. His play calling is horrific in short yardage.
Imo, anyone could have done what Grier does. He hasn't found any draft gems, has he's? He takes first round picks and uses them on safe picks, while too often ignoring real needs. He trades other picks and offers big contracts to older vets or injury plagued players. And he can't build an oline. Thought his handling of the treasure trove of picks was atrocious. Like, honestly, he's been average at best, and should have been gone long long ago, imo.
The O has been inept for like 7 games now. I believe our last good showing was against the Jest last season. The NFL has picked up on McDaniel and he seems to be unable to adapt.
All offenses are needing to adapt. There were like 2-3 QB’s yesterday and Thursday that had more than 240-250 yards passing, for example. At this rate we may only see a few QB’s go over 4,000 yards passing this season. All offenses are struggling so far this year.
Agreed. I‘m just saying that the O hasn‘t looked good in quite a while and it’s not just this season and they way it looks like we only can win with plan a and even that is in question now. McDaniel has to find answers quick and I‘m not sure if he can deliver but I sure hope so!
Clever plays will only get so far. When the opposing team is reading your play caller's mind, then only smash mouth getting dirty in the trenches old school playing will get the 3rd or 4th and short, goal line push, and big W's in the hard fought games. Maybe McDaniel might be tempted to call those plays if Grier gave him an o-line worth its weight, and a solid wrecking ball of a fullback or tightend to amplify the push. Grier obviously in his own words is not worried about such things, and so we as fans have to worry about QB injuries, sacks, stuffed running plays, and lost games against quality opponents week in and week out. One more thing in McDaniel's defense. He obviously has the cajones to go for it as evidenced by his penchant for fourth down and short to medium yardage attempts. I personaly think he would love having an o-line and power run package that would expand his options and chances at success. We will never get that as long as we have a GM who is not worried about building a dominant offensive line.
Sure. That really has nothing to do with what I wrote, however. Although, the 49ers, Cowboys, Ravens, (with all 3 starting QB’s), and Chargers (with Herbert playing all but one quarter) are all 1-2 like the Dolphins. Again, all offenses are struggling. Edit: And the Burrow lead Bengals are in danger of going 0-3.
Bengals look pretty bad. They should have never dumped Mixon and Boyd, and better pay Higgins and Chase.
Bills/Chiefs and Vikes/Seahawks for the championships. Lock it in. Seriously though, Josh Allen is really good. I'd take him over anyone not named Patrick Mahomes. On the other hand ... wtf is happening to Burrow and Lawrence. Lawrence is fixing to go down as a massive bust. Offenses have definitely been struggling on the whole, but the discouraging thing is how we have been non-competitive for 2 straight games. We just cannot have that, backup or no. Green Bay is winning with Malik Willis, no reason we can't find someone. And those are not dissimilar systems, I don't need to hear the "complexity" argument. Figure it out, beat the Titans. They are ripe for it. The season is teetering - lose to a mediocre team with a turnover prone QB at home in prime time and it's a write off. Win and you are still sitting at .500. Who knows what happens this year, but I don't want to see this team quit.
I cant explain trevor lawrence… loved him as a prospect but just the fact he has zero leadership skills, he reminds me too much of Tannehill. Just a guy with all the talent but none of the intangibles that puts it together. Last year it seemed like he had something nice going with ridley and ridley rightfully took a bag in nashville and left.. hes been awful with dhop and levis tho..
Ur always misinterpreted and always right. What was I thinking Einstein? Lol! Ur the most delusional self centered person ever on this site. The Dolphins suck.Saying with me the Dolphins and entire organization sucks from top to bottom. That is the reality of it.
lol… I don’t see anything wrong with my previous post to you. I stated that all offenses are struggling right now. And they are. Your reply literally had no bearing on what I wrote. Maybe you’re just too sensitive for the internet? Having a bad day?
This is valid. If the first read is not open or used the offense is cooked because the QB doesn't have enough time to look anywhere else.
I dont think the OL issue is all on Greer. McDaniel seems to think he can play call\design offense around the OL issues.
That might be window dressing covering unvoiced frustration. He really is hamstrung as the head coach and public face of the franchise from being able to say, hell yes I know we need a great O-line, but my GM can't seem to put one on the field.
The OL issue is absolutely all on Grier! He’s never…NEVER made it a priority with Flores nor McDaniel. McDaniel is having to call scheme plays to get the ball outside the tackles. We can’t run the ball between the guards because they flat out suck. And that’s all on Grier.
I don’t think it’s all on Grier because the Shanahan system doesn’t value guards as much and I agree on that because you can’t have all pros in all areas and you have to save money somewhere. On the other hand Grier is in charge and drafting lineman hasn’t been his strong suit. I would say it’s 80-20 Grier because I‘m sure McDaniel has some say in who we sign and release.
You know, when we’re all emotional, it takes a few days to absorb what happened and look at things objectively. There was actually some GOOD things that happened Sunday, but there’s no doubt Skylar crapped the bed.
Flores and AVG cooking in Minnesota. AVG was the player in the offseason I really wanted us to keep, to bad that didn’t happen…
Talking about our current regime and McDaniel doesn’t seem to value OG‘s that much and I‘m pretty sure he signed of on Brewer. I‘m just saying Grier is not the only reason even though he’s the most at fault if this season goes sideways.
Grier is the common denominator throughout multiple coaches, players, drafts as GM and before that as director of college scouting. McDaniel can only try to coach up the OL bums that Grier gets for him, and isn’t going to put himself out on a limb by saying that he’s trying to make chicken salad out of chicken ****. If you think player selection power is split equally between Grier and McDaniel, go back and look at McD’s face during the 2023 draft. He did not want Cam Smith in the second round, and had to wait until the third round until Grier took Achane, the guy he really wanted. This is not to excuse McDaniel for his questionable play calling (especially this season), just my .02 on the personnel side of things.
Yep. Grier’s kid wanted Dad to draft Cam Smith and he did. I think it was because they went to the same school. Grier hasn’t been given his walking papers yet? Holy ——.
I heard that before - maybe it was here. If that is in fact true, that should be a fireable offense in and of itself.
Dammit, I had blocked those cursed names out of my memories years ago. Now the trauma and PTSD are flooding back like a Tsunami. Not even joking. Those names are what caused a lifelong 'Phins fan to stop watching football for quite a long time.
Only because no one expects them to and everyone is playing 2 high safeties against them because of Hill and Waddle. It's something that they need to exploit until they can draw the safeties down.
Was going to post the same thing as I'm just catching up to all the comments now. Like most I was pretty livid watching that turd show and I actually turned it off and went to sleep during the 3rd quarter. Upon reflection and watching some All-22 breakdowns the Dolphins offense was getting guys open but Thompson is so bad he either missed them or froze and didn't throw the ball. He should never see the field again and he needs to be cut to make space for Huntley on the 53. Leave him on the PS if they like him but he should never, ever see an NFL again. He's doing the exact same things he did as a rookie, freezing, not throwing and eating huge sacks, there has been zero progression while he should know the offense inside out by now.
Yep. I posted earlier that the play calling wasn’t as bad as Skylar made it seem. There were definitely bad calls relative to the flow of the game, etc., but all games have bad calls. I have no clue why Skylar would even be considered for a practice squad QB. He’s just horrible. Keeping him around has been McD’s biggest fail.
Skylar shined in 2022 if you will, demonstrating he had a grasp of the offense. Hell, we were THAT CLOSE to winning in Buffalo during the wildcard game. So he showed he could run the offense. But as Janet Jackson sang, “What have you done for me lately?”
