Great play by Ramsey to start, but all eleven played their part.

    What a play.

The double punch - having the ball stripped away on our goal line and the TD directly afterwards - must have knocked the stuffing out of the Jags.

Could you imagine if they had made the move for Watson? He is total trash.

Which move was worse, Broncos get Wilson or Browns get Watson?

Broncos gave up: three players, two firsts, two seconds and a fifth for Wilson and a fourth, the gave him a five year deal worth $245 million with $161 guaranteed

Browns gave up: three firsts, a third and two fourths for Watson, then gave him $230 million guaranteed

Browns easily. Not only did they give up less for someone that wasn't an embarrassment to the franchise but are free of him already and the dead cap isn't going to kill them. Browns are fully stuck with him while they waste away a potential championship defense.

Watched the game delayed on DVR. Had to take the granddaughter to Disney.

Well as I predicted, the offense was going to have some rust to knock off. The offense appeared to be lethargic but that last drive was methodical, smash mouthed in your face football. The Dolphins need to be that physical each and every drive.

Defensively, kudos to them for shutting out that Jaguars in the 2nd half, but they were getting manhandled. No doubt about it, Jacksonville is legit!

Only the first game of the season but Miami has got to tighten down the screws. We’re not always going to be lucky and have things end up going our way.

So instead of showing how he's wrong, you tell him to be quite.

One of the knocks is that Tua disappears in big games, and the team plays down. Ignore it if you want.

The knocks on the Jags are pretty much the same as the ones on the Dolphins but the national media doesn't concentrate on them as much because they don't have as many big names. Soft, unable to close out a season, with an overhyped QB who hasn't earned his huge contract.

I think its less the overall big names and more Tua vs Lawrence. Media just decided Tua was bad and Lawrence great any hard look at the Jags might shake that.

Lawrence even still gets a bit of a break because of Urban Meyer for part of year

Defense would have been even better if the offense had given them a break in the first three quarters. It should be shocking that they got stronger over the course of the game until the offense figured it out. Usually, it's difficult to play well when you're constantly on the losing end of the scoreboard but they absorbed hard punches and came back swinging. Very encouraging. I think they took appropriate offense to Poyer's admission that the rest of the league sees them as soft. That 10 minute reaming from Ramsey a couple of weeks ago just might be the most pivotal moment of the offseason.

Anyone find it funny that those who typically criticize Tua have now moved on to others and have yet to say one thing about Tua’s league leading passing game and 100+ passer rating.

    Play bad… “YOU SUCK”.

Play well… “The other team let you play well”.

    Typical trolling behavior.

He had an insult there originally that I think Finatik changed to "quite". Same as what you originally said is now replaced with "be quiet".

One side effect of these mod changes is that it becomes difficult to search for what was originally said. Like you know it happened and then can't find it haha.

It's not surprising. They dug themselves a hole criticizing key personnel moves this team made and can't accept they might be completely wrong about the state of the team. We're going to keep seeing this as the season moves forward. And you know they're just waiting for a chance to say "I told you so" after Tua has one bad game lol.

I'll even predict that later in the season they'll say Tua's 101 rating this game wasn't really a "101" because it was mostly due to one play with Hill, that 80 yard TD, and that in reality Tua didn't play that well lol. As I said in that other thread.. we better beat Buffalo!

Tua didn't look good until the 4th.

I'll be happy when we get a full game. One quarter doesn't impress me.

Going to ignore the TD drive at the end of the 2nd quarter and the 80 yard bomb at the end of the 3rd quarter?
Tua looked good to great the entire game.

You quoted him and then added an insult afterwards in caps, which is why that got edited. To be clear, from my point of view neither what you wrote nor what ExplosionsInDaSky wrote was an insult, but what you wrote in caps afterwards was on the same level as what he wrote. I personally would not have an issue with either post.

Back to the topic of football…

Inwas just looking at game stats, particularly rushing stats against Jacksonville and last week’s name does cause me concern.

Jeff Wilson Jr, not Mostert, not Achane led the team with 5 rushes for 26 yards. Was it Wilson? Was it Mostert/Achane? Was it the play calling?

Maybe my eyes were deceiving me, but it sure seemed like we called quite a few pitch outs that I don’t recall seeing much at all last season. Am I wrong?

With this being McDaniel’s 3rd season and the upgrade at TE with Smith, I do expect to see more running of the ball. I just don’t know if what I saw is what I’ve seen before, or if McDaniel is trying something new with the upgraded TE position.

All I know is the rushing attack needs to be much more effective against Buffalo than it was against Jacksonville.

The play calling was suspect early in the Jax game. Almost reminded me of OCs we had in the past lol. I guess once they found out all those short passes didn't work they went back to what did work last season, and what made us a top offense.

There was also no run/pass balance. Nothing wrong with being a pass-first offense, which we really should be given our strengths, but McD almost abandoned the run early on beyond what was justifiable. And going for it on 4th and 8 so early in the game I didn't like either.

Anyway, they did finally get back to what they do best. Thank Holland for that crucial fumble, and the defense looked good with a new coaching staff. Game started bad ended fine. No real complaints from my end given that it was the first game of the season.

I get your point of view regarding our offense…let it fly. Hell, I love the passing game. Fell in love with it since Marino’s days, but here’s why the running game is CRUCIAL in Thursday’s game, some points I may be repeating.

We don’t have the afternoon sun baking down on the players, so with that advantage gone, the defensive line has to be worn out. Keep their a$$es on the field; wear them out physically with the thick humid night air. Make those boys suck wind. If we score quickly with a high flying offense, they get a break quicker and get to catch their breath. Bunk that!! Wear them out.

Secondly, with Josh Allen being Josh Allen, I want his a$$ on the bench. I want him getting chewed up with mosquitoes. I want him looking up at the clock wondering when he’s going to get a chance to get back on the field. ToP is going to be critical.

Our offense has a demonstrated history of scoring fast. Awesome, that’s great but the faster we score, the sooner, and more times the Bills offense is back on the field.

Run the ball…control the clock, wear that defense down and keep Allen’s a$$ on the bench.

We're not really built that way though. We simply can't run the ball to control the clock. If we tried that we'd have too many 3 and outs. This offense is built for the occasional explosive play, and you have to gameplan based on that. Have to adapt strategy to the weapons you have. You're describing what SF can and should do. Dolphins are built differently.
