I was sick at halftime but they turned it around and found their swagger. It was a huge come from behind win and we should all be happy. Defense looks really solid so far and the offense will be fine once any issues get ironed out. Staying healthy is key and with the exception of Mostert everyone seemed to get through week 1 fine. Thursday is going to be huge and will answer a lot of questions. Until then I'm happy and optimistic about where the team is. Fins up!
So ridiculous. A hot take thread "great win" gets resistance, and we're the trolls. Apparently this is no longer a place to discuss the team, it's only a place for homers.
First, it's titled "Great 1st Game". And it was. All any reasonable person needs to do is look around the league and see how nearly every team seemed to play like it was...wait for it...the 1st game of the season. A little rusty, timing off, guys schematically off, etc. The Bengals, Ravens, and GB, all preseason favorites of the media and sports pundits, lost. KC looked rusty in the first half of their game. The Browns, another "playoff team on the rise", looked like dog crap. The Bills barely beat the Cardinals. A team that won 4 games last year. Love and Hurts looked like crap. The Lions, another SB favorite by some, barely won in OT against the Rams. The Dolphins started slow. And in the 2nd half looked good to great depending on the unit you were watching. Even the OL looked good in the second half...sans Jones. Tua was something like 10-12 for 210 yards and a TD in the second half. No injuries except maybe Mostert being a little banged up. Any fan of the Dolphins who doesn't think yesterday was a good FIRST game is either trolling or being overly critical and doesn't know a thing about how football works.
Preach. Playing a handful of scripted snaps against generic defenses isn't likely to help us find rhythm or chemistry 2-3 weeks later. They had our offense figured out until we did what we do best. That makes me wonder if Coach doesn't need to use the vertical game to establish the underneath action and runs instead of the other way around. We looked like crap for a huge segment of game and it's clear that we don't have the OL that's going to let us impose our will on opponents. At least, not yet.
You can be unimpressed with the first half and you can be impressed that the offense and defense played complimentary lights out football in the second half. You can be impressed that Tua had a 140 QB rating in the 2nd half. You can be impressed that the defense held the almighty Trevor Lawrence to 37 passing yards in the second half. You can be impressed that the team didn't give up and Jevon Holland made an elite play that turned the game around. That's not "lucky", that's a great play by a great player. The narrative that this wasn't an impressive win is just stupid, and complaining just to complain about something.
The offense had 400 yards of offense. The defense held them to 267 yards of offense and only 162 yards total passing. 50% on 3rd down conversions and held them to 20% 3rd down conversion. I call those playing well in all phases. There were several dropped passes and if Tyreek gets just another yards that's another 80 yard bomb. Was it a thing of beauty? No. Did they come out at half time, make adjustment and dominate in the 2nd half? Yes. Looking at all these posts you would think we lost. And I can see the "this team sucks" crowd's new manta for the year is going but can they win in December. You all are going to run that chit into the ground every week because it's easy to do for the next 3 months and can't be countered becasue IT'S ONLY SEPTEMEBER. Geez people. Be happy for the win.
What's amazing to me is that at no time during the game did we ever have a lead. The game winning FG was completed with no time left on the clock.
Erasing posts again, I see. You’re doing a marvelous job as a moderator on this site. No wonder more and more people are leaving. Did you read my posts? Where did I say the team sucks, I just don’t see them as THE team to beat in the AFC, like some on here do and please stop throwing me into a group I don’t belong in.
Find one post of a poster here saying that the Dolphins are "THE TEAM TO BEAT IN THE AFC" this season. There's a search function. Find it and post it. Your hyperbole is ridiculous.
If it's so tiring you can delete your account so you don't have to deal with some positivity in your life.
Oh great now I'm caught in the middle of a lover's quarrel lol! And BTW I stand by my original statement. We're the team to beat in the AFC... Fins up!
Look, let’s be completely honest here and don’t sugar coat anything. The first half of yesterday’s game, the Dolphins were getting their a$$es handed to them. There’s no doubt about that…and I even said the offense was going to have to knock some rust off of their game. They were rustier than the Tin Woodsman! The second half, the defense finally stepped up, forcing Etienne to fumble AS he was able to score and giving the Dolphins the ball back. That was the momentum changer right there. Miami comes out and first play score on a TD strike from Tua to Hill. We’re back in the game. But I’m going to say this…because I recognize TALENT and Jacksonville this year is no joke. They are the real deal and the fact that we were able to slug our way back to a victory says a lot about the heart of this team…NEVER SAY DIE. I suspect we’ll see Jacksonville in January. It wasn’t pretty but winning is winning, especially the first game of the season. Now onto Thursday and Buffalo, who themselves were being handed their a$$es to them. Thursdays game is a MUST WIN
When it's just a pissing contest between you 2 yes, I delete posts. No one wants to see it and none of those posts had relevant information. I also changed some posts to not make them as inflammatory. Anytime you want to step up and take over as Mod have at it.
Just recognize who’s instigating all the time and be fair if you delete posts, that’s all I‘m asking.
"We're" as in all four of you? I'm getting "multiplicity" vibes here. The majority of the people here actually support this team and actually come here to discuss it. You...Along with 3 or 4 others come here and drag the entire forum down with nothing but negative drivel mixed with toxic-infectious attempts at persuasive agenda-pushing. The minute a person disagrees with any of you, you guys head straight into the unintelligent realm of throwing insults back. You (specifically), are way too overly sensitive on here and have been for quite some time. You simply do not listen and only respond with the sake of responding as opposed to actually trying to understand anything. Your replies are a constant bait at a fight and when someone does bite back at you, you whine out loud about how you're the victim (despite you starting the fight)...It's extremely childish of you. The sniveling "poor me, I'm the victim" replies that you constantly dish out whenever someone disagrees with you are beyond pathetic. Again...Childish. Stop. You seem to have the problem in life where nothing makes you happy no matter what. I can see it now. A beautiful woman cooks you a steak dinner and proceeds to rub your back afterwards. Yet...You'd find a way to complain about something despite the good treatment you're getting.
Speak for yourself, I think this team has the best shot at the Super of any team since Jimmy was coach
We pulled out a win yesterday against a quality team that pretty much owned us for three quarters. That's something that this team hasn't been able to do at all over the last 20+ years. There's definitely something different about this era of Miami Dolphins. We've got some heavy lifting to get over with Buffalo, KC, and Baltimore. It's early, but I'm going to believe and support until it's over.
Technically, the Miami Dolphins didn't lead a second of their 20-17 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Their first lead of the day came with zeroes on the clock in the fourth quarter, giving the team a win despite a lackluster performance for much of the day. A sluggish Dolphins offense took some time to get out of neutral, and Miami's defense allowed the Jaguars to jump out to a 14-0 lead before buckling down. Yet, Mike McDaniel couldn't be happier about it. "Nothing against our two previous teams, but that game we don’t win the last two years," McDaniel told reporters after the game. "And that’s because of the growth of the people that have been here for those two years, as well as the added influence from the new guys on our team." McDaniel gushed even more about the grittiness of the win in his locker room speech to players. "I couldn't have scripted a more perfect game for this team for game one," McDaniel told the players. "What better example of how we do things here and how you win games as a team than today? "This is the exact game that good football teams win. These are the separating factors. It's frustrating as all hell and when you're not living up to your own standard, it can crumble lesser people. So I commend everybody for this grown *** man win." In 2023, Miami struggled to win games against good teams, and rarely navigated adversity well. The Dolphins finished 1-6 against teams that reached the playoffs, and lost six out of the seven times they were held under 21 points. It's still too early to tell if the Jaguars are a contender, and it'd be premature to assume the first half hiccups for the Dolphins aren't indicative of a larger issue. But on a rocky day, Miami found a way to win. That's a good sign for the team.
