    I don’t buy this for a second.

I think he waited until the deal was done before practicing.

The Miami Dolphins starting offensive line for their Week 1 game appears to be set. Head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed before practice Friday that Liam Eichenberg would start at right guard, this coming after new center Aaron Brewer told reporters the previous day he would be ready for the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars after missing most of training camp with a camp injury.

So, barring any late-minute setbacks, the Dolphins offensive line against the Jagars at Hard Rock Stadium will look like this, from left to right: Terron Armstead, Robert Jones, Aaron Brewer, Liam Eichenberg, Austin Jackson.

    EICHENBERG BACK AT FAVORED SPOT
Brewer being back is good news for Eichenberg, who made clear in training camp that right guard was his preferred position even though he always would be willing to do whatever was needed of him. Eichenberg had never played center until he stepped into the lineup in the Week 3 blowout victory against the Denver Broncos last September after Connor Williams sustained a groin injury.

Eichenberg finished out the season at that position after Williams sustained a torn ACL in the Monday night loss against the Tennessee Titans in mid-December. There still remain some mysteries about the Dolphins starting offense because it's unknown what personnel grouping they'll open the game with.

We know, of course, that Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill also will start, and it's a good assumption that Raheem Mostert will start at running back, but then it could be De'Von Achane as well if the Dolphins open with two backs, Durham Smythe and/or Jonnu Smith will start at tight end, Alec Ingold will start at fullback or the "F" position if the Dolphins want to go with a bigger personnel package at the start, and Jaylen Waddle will start if the Dolphins open with at least two wide receivers.

The Dolphins finished the 2023 season 7-2 at home. At home against the spread last season, Miami was 6-3. This matchup against Jacksonville is their 11th overall meeting in the regular season and the first since 2021. The series is tied 5-5.

If you’re looking for betting odds on the Dolphins upcoming game against the Jaguars, we’ve got you covered. The following lines for the spread, money line and over/under are from BetMGM, giving you an idea of how the oddsmakers think the game will go.

    Moneyline (ML)

    • Dolphins -175 (bet $175 to win $100)
    • Jaguars +145 (bet $100 to win $145)
    Against the spread (ATS)

    • Dolphins -3.5 (-105)
    • Jaguars +3.5 (-115)
    Over/Under (O/U)

    • 49 (O: -110| U: -110)
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is coming off a 2023 season in which he led the NFL in passing. He was awarded a new contract, as were his main targets Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

Hill has played in eight Week 1 games, and he has eight total touchdowns in openers across his career. He and Tagovailoa hooked up on two scoring plays in last season’s Week 1 win against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Dolphins will also look to incorporate a new target in tight end Jonnu Smith. Recently labeled an “F” designation on the latest Dolphins depth chart behind Alec Ingold, this does not mean Smith is a second-string fullback. It means more of a formation adjustor and a player who can move around the field, as Smith will line up everywhere from slot receiving, inline, as well as in the backfield.

The standard backfield for the Dolphins is anything but standard. A triple threat of Raheem Mostert, De’Von Achane, and rookie Jaylen Wright may give the Jaguars all they can handle.

Another name to watch on offense for the Dolphins is rookie wide receiver Malik Washington. Miami is light in the room and Washington should see action on special teams as well as potential slot roles and gadget work on reverses and/or jet sweeps.

Defensively, the Dolphins have a new coordinator in Anthony Weaver. A new scheme and system will likely take a few games for his unit to fully assimilate to his style. However, Week 1 has a tough task in another recently extended quarterback in Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence will utilize receivers like Christian Kirk and rookie playmaker Brian Thomas Jr, as well as tight end Evan Engram. The Dolphins have had issues over the last several years against quality tight ends, so this is an area Weaver must help fix.

The Jaguars have Travis Etienne at running back, who has two straight 1,000-yard seasons to start his career. Miami defended the run well last season, finishing seventh in the NFL in rushing yards allowed. While they no longer have Christian Wilkins on the defensive line, they still have veteran Zach Sieler, and new addition Calais Campbell to anchor the group.

Miami hopes to see Jaelan Phillips on the field, who is ahead of his comeback schedule after an Achilles tear ended his 2023 season. Emmanuel Ogbah returns to help the pass rush and the Dolphins added rookie first-round pick Chop Robinson to the mix.

Lawrence will face a Dolphins secondary that now has cornerback Kendall Fuller replacing Xavien Howard, who was released in the offseason. Defensive back and former Jaguar, Jalen Ramsey showed up on the Dolphins injury report, and did not participate in Wednesday’s practice. Miami’s secondary also includes Jevon Holland, and free agents signees Jordan Poyer and Marcus Maye.

I was listening to Travis' podcast today and he said that the Dolphins, with McD, are 5-2 at home in games played in Sept. The 2 losses were without Tua. He talked about what a difference that is compared to Flores who was 0-11 at home in Sept.

In grateful to have a team like this

Of course I have a few philosophical questions but I have to give them this year to see if there way is indeed the right way.

Let’s get out there Sunday and make some freakin noise when we’re on D

Eh seems like a non story to me.. even with it being a non story id be interested to see the body cam and audio.. wouldnt shock me if some power tripping police officer detained him after tyreek told him hes trying to get to the game that hes playing in..

I’d bet my house this is more right than wrong.

Tyreek was probably speeding (just give him his ticket) and Tyreek probably said something that hurt the cops feelings and the cop couldn’t control his emotions and escalated the situation.

Let's see what comes out on the police cam but I'm willing to bet Tyreek would be in jail right now if he wasn't who he is. Some cops don't care who you are when you drive recklessly and run your mouth.

I doubt it. We obviously don’t know what happened, but reckless driving is a very broad charge. Was he passing a car while on the shoulder? Was he speeding? Did he change lanes too quickly? All those could be considered reckless driving depending on the cop who witnessed it. Apparently he was entering the stadium at the time. How “reckless” could he have been? I can’t remember the golfers name, but this seems more like that type of situation to me. The golfer was never charged and the cops looked like a-holes in that case.

And “mouthing off” isn’t a crime.
My bet is the cops overreacted because they got their feelings hurt. If Tyreek deserved handcuffs my bet is he wouldn’t be playing right now. Instead, right now, my opinion is Tyreek was treated unfairly and the cops were more wrong than right. I’m sure we’ll find out more once the dashcam/badge cam videos are released.

Elon Musk has 11 kids with 3 different women. Kamala Harris’ husband banged his kid’s nanny and got her pregnant. The list of men with weak pullout games is long and has no bearing on what happened with Tyreek today.

I’m watching the pre-game show and one of them just said that the cold weather keeps beating Miami.

No mention of all the injuries we suffered towards the end of last season.
