Yes Pitts did, but not the other TE's you referred too, man just go back to club you cant handle it here. "they could get to around $80m under the cap" LOL OMG dude even funnier ... Dolphins are like 3.8 under with several restructures. LOL Dude are you for real?
Yes, other then the TE and maybe the one LB, they are signing roster fodder. Not hard for some of us to comprehend, I now realize you can't.
Yep! Clearly we have the wrong GM running this team. Danmarino would have us not 70 million under but 80 million under and all our players being resigned plus several other quality players.
How will Wilkins do without Sieler. Sieler had more sacks last year, and averages about the same as Wilkins over their careers. Both had about the same number of tackles. Yet Sieler is getting paid far less.
Holy hell… you’re worse off than I thought. Lmao…You keep moving those goalposts, son. The Falcons let Smith go because they have a great TE stable. (Who had more than 4 receptions between them… hahaha) As for their current cap, how many FA’s have they signed and who other than Ramsey have they restructured? They still need to extend/restructure Tua, Chubb, Tyreek… Now try to add up everything. Use a damn calculator. Lmao… Before FA started, and like I wrote, there was a very reasonable way for them to get to around $80m under the cap. I also said I’d expect them to not do everything possible to get to $80m under and they’d end up closer to $60m under rather than $80m under. You cried and said they didn’t have the money to do anything and they’d lose all of their good players. They’ve lost Wilkins (due to an insane offer from another team) Hunt (same reason) and AVG. And no matter it’s not enough to think that his $10m per was due to the cap.
Sieler won't be taking on double teams, they will be signing a big space eater for that if the Baltimore model is anything to go by. Sieler will be the pass rushing interior lineman.
I'm not sure what his size actually is, I've seen anywhere between 275-295 but he looks on the lighter end for sure. Even then, a 280lb man should be able to block another man for 3 seconds surely.
Well when that 280lb man is trying to block a 350lb man without a running start. That's when it becomes a problem. At least Tua will be able to see over him. LOL.
I've been pretty consistent. Pass blocking in this scheme doesn't matter much. If it did, McDaniel would have gotten a better pass blocking center. But for the folks that like this signing, I don't want to hear the excuses if Tua craps the bed. Honestly, with your take on the salary cap and how wrong you were. I'm surprised you are still posting here.
He’s terrific at run blocking. PFF says his pass blocking isn’t up to par. So why aren’t you happy? Or do you not know this and decided to just whine anyhow? Please explain how I was wrong re: the cap.
That's a good breakdown of what they might do in the draft. Trading the 2nd rounder for either of those guys might improve the team in the short term, but contract and money wise we need more players on rookie contracts.
Who said I wasn't happy? I don't think it's a good signing. He's not complete enough of a center to be signed on day 1 on a 3 year deal. Have you thought about some time off after how wrong you were about the salary cap? All your false confidence and calling people morons for disagreeing that the salary cap would be a factor? You should take some time off and reflect on your actions and words.
For a guy who can’t draft the Dolphins sure lost some guys they drafted who demanded a whole lot of money.
I don't see the cap as the problem you all made it out to be. We weren't going to pay Wilkins the money he got or Hunt for that matter. We got the same guy for cheaper than AVG although I would have liked him back. Once the new restructures are counted were going to be something like 20Mill under.
Even with the new signings, once Chubb and Tyreek are restructured (if that happens) they’ll be around $40m under. If they extend Tua you can add another $15m-$20m to that. Which will put them at what I said they’d be after those extensions/resteuctures. (That’s including the X money after June 1st)
Right, and we weren't going to pay Wilkins or Hunt the money because of the cap, which was the point many of us were making. Passing on AVG at that money was shocking. Also, we still have quite a few holes to fill. Don't see how we field as good of a roster as 2023.
It wasn't because of the CAP. They didn't want to tie up 1/10 of the cap on Wilkins. With Hunts payday it would have been like 18% of the CAP for 2 plays. I mean come one. AVG I though could have been brought back. It was only like a million more then what they signed the new guy to. They locked up Sieler for a 1/2 of what Wilkins got. They just brought in a true Center that has started every game the last 2 years. If they can resign Williams, I think the line is going to be fine. They also signed a pass catching TE that we needed. And it's only the 2nd day.
Don't compare the Van Ginkel money to Barrett money. It's not a $1 million difference. Van Ginkel got two years $20 million, $14 million guaranteed. Barrett's contract can be worth up to $9 million with incentives. His contract is probably in the $5-6 million range.
But that's just the reality of the positions when you are signing top players in FA. Look around the league. Wilikins and Hunt contracts aren't outliers. That's what they make, and you either have the money or you don't. Want to go do things cheaper, go ahead, but you'll likely go backwards from a talent perspective. That's where we are heading.
Wrong. I mean, the cap had plenty of money to sign both. They didn’t feel like spending that much for a DT and OG. There is a difference between not having it and not wanting to spend it.
Wrong. They had the money. The Dolphins are way more stacked than either the Raiders or Panthers. In your mind it’s OK to over spend on a DT and OG, the Dolphins don’t feel that way.
They absolutely didn't have the space for them. They didn't even have the space to franchise tag either.
Such a typical post from you. You know why Sieler is payed far less, because he took a deal while he was injured and got payed way below market value. He‘s great and I love him but anybody with a little sense knows, that Sieler benefited more from Wilkins then the other way around and that Wilkins is the better player. Lol!
Former Dolphins DT Raekwon Davis is signing a 2-year $14 million base value deal with the Colts, per agent Trevon Smith of Athletes First.
Interesting, now I‘m getting my post edited by the „moderator“. Guess only @danmarino is allowed to call people trolls around here, while being the most toxic poster around here…
I can't keep up with all the childish BS that goes on. None of you are willing to exert some self control. Put each other on ignore. It's like a full time job having to do this. You all are taking the fun out of this for me and then you all will be just left to call each other trolls. Your a troll. No your a troll. I said it first.
All of this jibber jabber back and forth on the cap is getting extremely silly. Christian Wilkins tested the free agency market. At the end of the 2021 and 2022 seasons, the front office made, based on his performance at the time, was a FAIR offer. Wilkins felt like he was worth more…that he deserved to be paid equivalent to the top 5 DTs in the league. He held out, became an UFA and his gamble on himself paid off. The Raiders paid him. Good for him. He’s getting his payday and going from a team that terrifies opponents to a team that brings laughs to opponents. The Dolphins would have been fiscally irresponsible to pay Wilkins a $27 million a year contract. Wilkins loss is isn’t a cap victim. It was a financial responsible loss. Losing Hunt hurts but Hunt getting $18 million in Miami wouldn’t have been fiscally responsible either. Once upon a time, before the salary cap, owners could pay whatever they wanted to players but with the cap, owners and GM have to view a team roster through the eyes of Mr Spock…the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few…or the one. You can’t wrap up 10% of your salary allowance on ONE player out of 53. That’s just plain stupid.
