The Dolphins announced three roster moves Tuesday.

The release of linebacker Jerome Baker and defensive back Keion Crossen previously were reported. Baker, though, was released with a failed physical, the team announced.

Baker’s release saves $9.8 million in cap space, and Crossen’s departure fees up $3 million. The Dolphins, who must be cap compliant by March 13, remain roughly $18 million over the cap.

The Dolphins also announced they signed defensive tackle Isaiah Mack.

Mack has played 25 career games, starting one, in four seasons. He has totaled 17 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a fumble recovery in his career.

He has appeared in games for the Titans (2019-20), Patriots (2020) and Ravens (2021-22). Mack has also spent time with the Broncos (2021), Steelers (2021), Seahawks (2022), Jets (2023) and Commanders (2023).

They tried restructuring Bak but couldn't come to an agreement.

    Whole lotta holes to fill!

Maybe we resign if no better offers but Defence going to take a huge step backwards unless they hit in the draft.

There is a world where it's possible to bring both Baker and Wilkins back. I doubt we will see either in a Dolphins uniform again, though.

So If we lose Wilkins and Hunt not to mention Baker and Howard we are somehow a better team?Serious question because I don't see it.
Hunt and Wilkins to me would be huge loses.
I also forgot possibly Connor Williams and on a offensive line that is already suspect.

For a team that sucked and choked so bad, people are awfully worried about bringing the same exact team back.

Depends on who they’re replaced with.
X was a middling DB last season. Baker was fine, but nothing special.
I hope to keep Hunt and Wilkins. If the rumors of what Hunt is asking are true then nevermind.

Williams, I suspect, will be back.

Also, and this isn’t directed just at you, but Williams and Hunt missed a lot of games last season. Why are so many people calling for them to be resigned? Hunt missed as many games as Armstead last year, but he’s a must have and Armstead was a stupid signing?

    “Even worse” lol

Crying about an 11-6 playoff team who competed for the #1 seed a lot of the season while having an historically high rate of injuries and after the past 20 years is just crazy.

Free agent tight end Jonnu Smith visited the Dolphins on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The sides are in contract negotiations, Schefter adds.

The Falcons released Smith last week, making him a free agent. In his one season with Atlanta, Smith set career highs with 50 receptions and 582 yards. He also had three touchdown receptions. The Titans made Smith a third-round pick in 2017, and he has 219 career catches for 2,423 yards with 20 touchdowns.

Durham Smythe started 14 games at tight end for the Dolphins last season.

He and AJ Brown were quite the lethal 1-2 punch in Tennessee with Tannehill. If we could land him…with Hill and Waddle? Wow!

Mitch Morse from Buffalo is getting released. Morse joined the Bills in 2019 and he started all 87 regular season and playoff games he played for the team at Center.

The difference with Hunt it was only 1 year and Williams I really I am not sure if he was injured for cowboys or not without looking it up.My issue is the line really dropped off when they were not in the lineup.

The 2023 Dolphins were 1-5 against playoff teams. Tua got a .300 record against playoff teams in his career. They weren't remotely competitive against the Chiefs in the playoffs despite the defense playing well.

There's a large gap between 1st and the 2023 Miami Dolphins. Do you really believe they'll field a stronger roster in '24?

Correct. Hunt had never missed one single game in his career until this year and is only 27. Anyone calling him injury prone is out to lunch.

As for Williams. He tore his ACL late last season and probably won’t even be ready to start the season. I’m fine with moving on from him.
Would be OK if we brought him back on a cheap one year rehab type deal… but I doubt he would be open to that.

Wilkins and Hunt are big losses. No question.

Van Ginkel would be our 3rd biggest loss. He was awesome. Chubb and Phillips have serious injuries. We are a baron waste land at edge without AVG.

Not too concerned about Baker or Howard. Their names (and contracts) are far bigger than their actual impact.

Williams was good. But he already wasn’t on the team down the stretch and for the playoff game.

The Dolphins are set to release cornerback Xavien Howard in a move that cleared out a good deal of cap space in Miami and General Manager Chris Grier indicated that there was a chance the team could bring him back if the veteran didn’t find a deal he likes with another club.

It remains to be seen where Howard lands this offseason, but he’s not looking to wend his way back to the Dolphins.

“That door is closed,” Howard said on WQAM on Thursday morning.

Howard is going to be designated as a post-June 1 cut, so he won’t officially become a free agent until the new league year starts next week. Once it does, Howard will be able to find a new place to play after eight years in Miami.

You should look at how other top QB’s have fared against these, pretty much, worthless parameters. The best thing would be to compare how QB’s you like, or the QB for whichever team you root for, did against the teams you’re talking about here.
    You may be surprised.

    Spoiler alert*

Tua did as well, or better, than most.

Jonnu Smith has found a new team. According to multiple reports, Smith is signing with the Dolphins on a two-year deal.

The contract is worth up to $10 million.

Smith, 28, spent last season with the Falcons. That reunited him with his former offensive coordinator with the Titans, Arthur Smith, after two years with the Patriots. in 2023, Smith set career highs in receptions (50) and yards (582) while playing 58 percent of Atlanta’s offensive snaps. He also finished with three touchdowns.

A third-round pick in 2017, Smith has recorded 219 career catches for 2,423 yards with 20 touchdowns in 107 games.

The Falcons released Smith last week, saving the club $6.5 million in cap space.

To be blunt, he's a one dimensional player. He's really good at that dimension, but he's almost useless as a pass catcher.

I like the move quite a bit - though it will be interesting to see what happens if Bowers does manage to fall to 21 lol.

The Dolphins added a defensive lineman to their roster on Thursday. The team announced the signing of Daviyon Nixon. No terms of the deal were announced. Nixon was a Panthers fifth-round pick in 2021 after playing at Iowa. He had 15 tackles and a half-sack in 14 games over his first two seasons, but was waived in December 2022. He caught on with the Seahawks for a brief period and spent all of 2023 out of the league.
