In a 17 game season 58.8 yards per game gets you to a 1,000 yard season. Which is still considered a benchmark. Maybe not as much as it was 20 years ago. 88 yards per game is 4 yards shy of a 1,500 yard season. If it is considered a defensive achievement to hold Tyreek to only be on pace for a 1,500 yard season then that's telling you how high the bar is you're setting.
I wasn't setting the high bar, KeyFin was. I was correcting his statement that holding Tyreek to 115 yards was an accomplishment. Tyreek has had a remarkable season but there've been teams who pretty much shut him down. I expect the Ravens to be one of those teams. I'd be surprised if he gets over 60-70 yards this game.
It's anybody's guess how things will go but you're probably going to be right. If you dissect Baltimore's numbers on pass defense it's pretty impressive. On defense they're #1 in average yards per attempt and #1 in passing TDs allowed. This is going to be a very tough game to win.
This is the game that Vic was brought in for. This is where his defense needs to shine. He’s going to need his best defense to contain Lamar. Running qb’s really hurt us in the past. Once he scrambles the corners and safety need to stick to their man because he’s going to throw and has accuracy and an arm to deliver once someone open! The defense has to win this game, because our offense will probably score 17 points.
From what I can see McDonald’s defence has gone up against a Shannahan type offence 3 times in the last 2 seasons. The Rams put up 410 yards of offence, scored 31 and should have won the game. Williams had 114 yards on the ground at 4.6ypc. The 49ers had nearly 430 yards of offence, scored 19 but also turned the ball over 5 times. CMC had over 100 yards and over 7ypc. We all remember what the Dolphins did last season. Nearly 550 yards of offence, 42 points and Mostert was averaging over 5 ypc before we started to throw lots. McDaniel has 2 games from this month to see how Baltimore tried to defend a motion based offence. The closer this game gets the more confident I get. I wouldn’t be surprised if McDaniel schemes up stuff this week that Baltimore have no answer for.
I’m gonna say this but I’m not sure it’s factual but I’ve watched their three losses. Wow, what a dumb team is all I can say, and if anyone has watched them and doesn’t come away with the same impression I would disagree. Now lol hear me out here, when Patrick McQueen stands at the podium and says “you ain’t gonna play that basketball **** against us, that’s not our game or whatever the **** he said.” Basketball is a set of plays in motion, picks and miss direction of players. Basically queen is saying we’re dumb and we don’t want to play that type of game we just wanna line up Mano e Mano and see who wins. Well guess what Dumass the game of football is not just about that anymore, it requires instincts and brains and just because our offense makes you think before you react thats football son. let’s mind **** them, then when their standing there with their mouth open dumbfounded, pound their asses into submission If you are gay you might get excited by this post
Shrug. It's not as if they all thought the Fins will get blown out. They have it as a close game won by the home team who also has a better record. If the Fins need THAT as bulletin board material, they're not very well motivated.
So, Ethan Bonner has been elevated to the roster the last couple of weeks in place of Holland. He was NOT elevated today.
Meanwhile, the Ravens elevated a wide receiver and a safety. That's trending towards Flowers and Hamilton not playing.
To say something constructive, Lamar Jackson is probably the most talented QB in the league with a big arm and the ability to scramble. He's the QB many Miami fans want Tua to be...an undeniable superstar that carries his team. The only problem with that is if Jackson has an off night, or gets bombarded with pressure and can't escape the pocket, then the Ravens quickly become one-dimensional with very little offense. Jackson has yet to beat Flores and the cover-zero. Jackson has yet to beat Tua. While I get why the talking heads would all take Baltimore, I don't think it's going to be the game they're expecting to see. Beating them comes down to containing Jackson and staying with the play until he's on the ground. I am not confident about this game for obvious reasons. I will say though that Jackson is the better QB (in their highly niche offense) and Miami is the better team. I wholeheartedly believe that Tua is the better of the 2 QB's overall though and I think we get the W. I'm expecting a great game and I think the magic number for Miami's offense will be around 23...so I'll go with a score of 27-21 Miami.
When I think of the Comeback, I'm reminded that the Ravens got 21 points on explosive plays. They gashed us for a 79 yard run, a 75 yard pass, and a 103 yard kickoff return. It shouldn't have even been a close game. With that being said, it shows how dangerous they are because that capability means they are never more than one play away from changing momentum or making a blowout out of a tight game. I'm confident we can win - and actually think we should win - but it's going to be one of those games where I can't relax until the final whistle.
If I’m McDaniel, I’m running the ball. I don’t care if we go 3 and out on the first couple of series…provided the defense does it’s job, which I really believe they will. Run the ball, suck in that secondary, set up play action and burn them with Hill. And if Moestert and Achane can actually rip off a few good runs? Whoa Nellie!!!! Defensively, got to keep a spy on Jackson…his ONLY JOB is to eyeball Jackson and don’t let him get loose. We’re also going to have to keep Jackson in the pocket. Don’t let him break loose. Make him beat us with his arm and not his legs. 3 touchdowns and 3 field goals, Miami wins a nail biter 30-27.
I hope you're right, but I just don't see us scoring 30 this game. Not that the Ravens' D is as good as everyone is saying, just that our offense is so banged up.
If Mostert is out its going to make it a whole lot tougher. Was reading the Ravens aren't particularly great at dealing with the runs of late(haven't looked to see how factual that was) . My first thoughts were Mossie is going to like that. Gonna be tough, but we'll see what 6pm (uk) brings, new miami tshirt on wife bought for Xmas and hope it brings luck and ends the year well. Merry Xmas all and hope you have a great new year, obviously with a phins win. FD
Jeff Wilson Jr. will have a big game today. Mostert is just a system RB. I apologize ahead of time to anyone who doesn't get the joke.
To some degree that's true- Mostert makes the most of his opportunities just like the rest of our stable. Luckily the "next man up" is one of the most dominant rookie RB's in the league...Achane will carry the torch today and I have a feeling that he'll have a big game.
I’m hoping Achane is going to shine today. Remember, he is just as fast as Moestert and has great vision in hitting the gaps.
The key will be our defense containing Jackson. Do that and we win. Dolphins 24-Ravens 20. Pick rating confidence: 4/5 stars
Ced Wilson could have a big day with Waddle out. He has a good thing going with Tua when given the opportunities.
Holland back, Ogbah a healthy scratch. Full starting secondary for the first time in 5 weeks. Hamilton out for the Ravens is huge and they have 2 other CB’s out as well. Looks like they are as banged up as us.
Well, probably not the two teams that will meet again in the playoffs (if it comes to that) with all these injuries. Go Phins!!
I just hope the refs don't screw us. What they did to the Lions is just insane. That (totally unjustified) call against the Lions had so much influence on playoff seeding. This game is just as important. Go Fins!
