Damn this is upsetting and what a lot of us worried about. These fast guys are usually light and can’t take the beating. Misery has been good but he’s not as explosive as Achane has been and we might see more coverage on our receivers going forward
Unless Wilson is ready to go, I'd say Ahmed will be next in line to get some work. He's kind of a forgotten man in all of this and he's always been good for us when called upon. Running backs are like Pitchers these days. You've got to have 4-5 of them that can be used if necessary. Obviously this sucks for Achane, and I certainly hope it's not something that's going to become a normal thing for him. He's a crazy talent and it would suck to have his chance at greatness derailed because of injuries.
Moestert and Ahmed. Wilson to practice this week. Also have Chris Brooks. I’m not too concerned with our RB situation right now.
The holes Miami has been opening up almost guarantees any RB 5 YPC. Archane has out-performed Moestert simply because of better vision and quicker cuts at the 2nd level, but I don't think it's a huge drop-off in talent. Ahmed and Wilson should put up similar stats...maybe not the 75 yard TDs, but it's every RB's dream to have holes like that to run through. This offense clicks because we're starting drives with great runs on 1st down and playing from 2nd and short. Teams expect the run on 1st down and they can't stop it, which means the quick pass is almost always wide open on 1st down as well. It's truly a nightmare for defenses and Archane demanded just a little more respect than other RB's on our team. It doesn't fundamentally change anything though since Moestert is almost as solid in the early downs...he's just less of a homerun hitter than Archane, if that makes any sense. The silver lining here is that we should be a better team in December than we are today. If Archane and Ramsey is full strength heading into the stretch, this really could be a SB team.
I didn’t think he was but I guess I was wrong. With Ahmed and Wilson coming back to practice we’ll be alright.
I cannot help but feel like Achane (no r) is being undervalued. 12.1 yards per carry on 38 carries for Achane vs 5.4 on 58 for Mostert, all behind the same line. If Achane got 0 yards on his next 20 carries, putting his total carries at the same 58 that Mostert is at currently, his YPC would still be 2.5 yards per carry more (7.9) than Mostert's currently is, and on track for the all time record! That is not just crazy. It's bug Fking absurd how well Achane has performed. Utterly mind blowing. As for the any RB getting 5 YPC, Mostert is averaging 5.4, with some great tackle breaking runs. We've had recent starting RBs that wouldn't get 5 YPC. A little respect for the RBs. And Achane specifically... what we have seen him do so far is so crazily historic in a historic season that I don't think it's really being understood. I just had a different though though.. Imagine being one of the Tua haters that cannot enjoy this season because of that. So very sad.
Oh, I completely agree with you, the kid is truly special and could be a generational talent at the position. I simply meant that Moesert running for 6 yards on 1st down or Archane running for 13 yards each sets us up for success. Second and 4 means you can do absolutely anything with that kind of running game, it's almost a throwaway down that you can get a little cute on. And we've been doing that all season long. I'd take Archane over our other backs any day of the week, but I'm not in a panic that we won't have him for a month or so. It's just enough time for folks to forget about how truly lethal he is with the ball in his hands. We need him fresh and healthy for December and now that's almost a guarantee.
LOL, I never noticed the spelling until just now. I actually searched eBay the other night and bought a few of his rookie cards typing in Archane. No wonder I only saw a handful of cards.
Such a shame for the lad, as he’s been brilliant for the last few weeks. Let’s hope he back terrorising defences before very long.
I listened to interview with him on TH podcast. Sounded like the guy didnt even know he was hurt. He was talking about the numbers he would put up in Panthers game. Did not say one word about being hurt, nor did Hill.
Brooks injury didn’t look good. Any word on that yet ? interesting Wilson was actually listed on last weeks injury report with a ribs injury. Not the knee that had him on IR. So not sure what is happening there. We might see a Jake Funk call up for next week.
The only news I could find on Brooks: https://www.sun-sentinel.com/2023/1...y-to-day-but-chris-brooks-could-be-out-weeks/
Groin injuries linger for a long time. Any chance Cam Smith sees some action if X can't shake the groin?
Yah, if the headlines are to be believed, the last thing X's attorneys want right now is him shaking his groin. One more kid and he's gonna need a second clown car to take them home on his one weekend per month.
I think that has more to do with our best 3 OL being injured. But definitely want him back with that cheetah next level gear
Having a backup guard and a backup backup guard in the game is likely to hamper anyones run game. Also running stretch plays predominately with a much slower Ahmed that defences are now selling out to stop isn't helping either. Coach needs to find balance not only between passing and running but between stretch and inside zone runs as well.
