Giants quarterback Daniel Jones took 10 sacks on Monday night, the most a quarterback had endured in one game in five years.

The last time a quarterback got sacked 10 times in a game was in 2018, when Matthew Stafford was taken down 10 times. The NFL record is 12 sacks in a game, a record shared by Donovan McNabb, Warren Moon and Bert Jones.

Sacks have been a major problem for Jones this season. He’s been sacked on 14.4 percent of his dropbacks, by far the worst rate of his career. With 22 sacks through four games, he’s on pace to get sacked a whopping 94 times in a 17-game season, which would be an NFL record — if Jones could last 17 games while getting sacked that often.

The Giants believed Jones was their franchise quarterback when they signed him to a four-year, $160 million contract in March. That contract calls for Jones to receive a guaranteed base salary of $35.5 million in 2024, and to count $47.1 million against the Giants’ salary cap next year. Which means the Giants are stuck with Jones, and they’d better figure out what’s going wrong, and why he can’t avoid the pass rush

One of the biggest problems with the quarterback push play comes from the risk of injury. Primarily to the quarterback. But other injuries can happen. As the Giants learned the hard way on Monday night.

Via ESPN.com, the Giants suffered injuries to a pair of offensive players when attempting the play on Monday night against the Seahawks. It happened in the first quarter, on the Giants’ opening drive. Fourth and one. It failed.

Both center John Michael Schmitz (shoulder) and tight end Daniel Bellinger (knee) exited the game. They did not return.

“Yeah, both guys got hurt on that play,” coach Brian Daboll told reporters.

Like the team’s other home game, a promising opening drive ended in spectacular fashion with no points. And the opponent ran away with the game. The end result? The Giants have lost a pair of home games by a combined score of 64-3. And they might have lost a pair of offensive players after attempting to run the play their division rivals in Philadelphia have worked to perfection.

That seems impossible. Hope the Dolphins can get 2.

According to the DraftKings Sportsbook opening lines, the Dolphins open the week as 10.5-point favorites, the largest spread in the league for the week. The combined score is 49 points, while the Dolphins are -520 on the moneyline. New York is +390.

Great game to get back on track. As others have noted, we're very likely to win our next two games to go 5-1. After that we'll have a second chance to show we belong among the elite with the game at Philly.

btw.. Daniel Jones is currently the 2nd worst starting QB by passer rating at 69.7 above Joe Burrow who is the worst (ouch). I really feel a sorry for Burrow right now, though I know he'll rise up the rankings in the end. Right above Jones at #3 worst is Zack Wilson (72.3 rating), the great Jets QB. Tannehill is 4th worst atm at 74.9 lol.

And Mac Jones, who some here think is comparable to Tua, is at 80.8 while Tua is at 114.4. ALL that difference must be due to the surrounding cast, none of it due to the QB lol. I know.. small sample size, but still this is hilarious.

Giants lost another lineman and blocking tight end.. and chances are their starting left tackle nor saquon may be healthy.. what that means is, weve got to make Daniel Jones fear for his life.

what im afraid of is the giants pass rush.. they were able to get lots of pressure on Geno and Lock. But there were a lot of holes in that pressure as well that Tua, Waddle and Hill and our running backs can take advantage of for long plays on screens or checkdowns

The pressure was late as their WR couldn't get open is what I tended to see.

We should easily win this game, but this being the dolphins and our history I’m concerned Daniel jones comes out looking like the next Tom Brady against us.

Burrow’s struggles are directly linked to the fact that he is on my fantasy team, lol. I lost the first two games because he was almost worthless for fantasy purposes.

If anything he'll look more like Josh Allen and we know how well we defended against that last week.

We should beat them. Back in the summer I had this game as a 50/50 either way, but the Giants are one of the worst teams in the NFL this year and we should straight whoop them. They were a fluke team last year from the looks of things. They could play us pretty tough, obviously nothing is given, but I do expect a win.

I know Danny Dimes isn't the greatest QB but he is mobile and it's something to watch out for. Also his OL is the worst in the NFL, it might even be worse than that historically bad OL we rolled out a couple of years ago. If the front 4 can't get pressure this game it will be really worrying for the rest of the schedule.

All fairness to Jones who I am not a fan of, his offensive line is terrible. I will say Zappe looks better with the same line, but either way the line is terrible. Borrow OL is not much better either.

Giants running back Saquon Barkley is getting closer to returning to play. Via multiple reporters, head coach Brian Daboll said on Wednesday that Barkley will participate in team drills during Wednesday’s practice. It’s the first time since Barkley suffered his ankle injury in Week 2 that he’ll take part in them.

Barkley was a limited participant in all three days of practice last week but was listed as doubtful for Monday’s game against Seattle and was eventually inactive. In two games this year, Barkley has 114 yards rushing with a touchdown plus nine catches for 41 yards and a TD.

But the team’s woes on the offensive line look like they’ll continue. Offensive tackle Andrew Thomas remains sidelined by his hamstring injury and won’t practice on Wednesday. Center John Michael Schmitz (shoulder) and offensive lineman Shane Lemieux (groin) also won’t participate on Wednesday.

They’re offensive line is a total mess. Andrew Thomas and company have already been ruled out for this week.

Chubb and Wilkins had better show up in a big way…. this Giants offensive line was a bunch of turnstiles last week against a mid Seattle front.

We need to start making these games a "gimme". It's a sign of being an elite team that you beat teams you're supposed to handily beat by a large margin. Here's hoping for a final score differential of 10+.

I think most would call the Eagles an elite team, they just barely survived a team that then lost to the Bears. Sometimes you get weeks like that. No one is going to care about point differential by the end of the year, just wins and losses.

Both you and Brad are correct. At the end of the season it is wins and losses but during the season, what you win by does determine how good of a team you are.

To have a successful season, you’re supposed to win all of the games you’re SUPPOSED to win…and a few of the games you weren’t.

When you win some of those you weren’t (or deemed underdogs against) and you’re destroying the teams you’re supposed to, that elevates your team to the next level.

We’re all hoping the loss to Buffalo was a “one off” and one way to demonstrate that is was not only win against the Giants, but obliterate them. This needs to be at least a 2 touchdown win.

Watching the Bills lose right now is a nice start into my Sunday evening! What I wanna see against the Giants today, is a dominant defensive showing against a depleted Giants offense, if they are not able to do that I‘m concerned. As for the offense a strong showing from our o-line against a strong Giants d-line would be nice! Let’s go Phins and just win baby!!!
