YOU and YOU alone started talking about other posters. No one else was. STOP! Take some blame for once.

No. It's not true. We credited Tua for playing well yesterday. Multiple times. So again, you are guilty of lying by saying we didn't.

Wanting to see MORE elite play before changing their overall opinion on a player is perfectly reasonable. That's very far from not giving credit when he plays well.

Eff off. I posted a national news story, and asked what people thought.
And in that thread must said they thought it appropriate to be waiting on handing out a contract.

    My stand on Tua is simple and clear;

Many many times I have stated that I believed Tua, barring injury, would have a good NFL career, and that he is, at worst an above average QB. If you want me to say he's elite, then he needs to give me more than 2/3rds of a season, or one game here and there.

Great photos showing the game within the game. See how Tua is looking downfield? Defense is all reacting to where he's looking. [IMG]
Then, he throws to Smythe and the closest defender is four yards off the play. Perfect execution.

On that throw to Hill, Tua was about to throw it to Waddle. His hands are separating in this still shot and he sees Waddle slipping.

    upload_2023-9-11_15-35-42.png

He resets, climbs the pocket to avoid pressure, and throws an absolute dime to Hill at crunch time.

This single play should kill all the false narratives of pre-determining where he is throwing "no matter what", not being able to make plays off script, not being able to throw outside the numbers, not being able to throw late, not being able to throw off platform, needing to set his feet to throw deep.... ALL OF THEM. Save a video clip of this and play it before posting one of those narratives again.

This will forever more be known as my "GTFOOH throw".

Dude.. there is now 1 year of evidence of Tua proving you and others wrong, repeatedly on many fronts, from the deep ball to elite stats to carrying the team to playing well in away games in the cold to playing with with a bad OL, etc.. All you guys do is move the goalposts each time and say "well he hasn't yet done this.." which wasn't on your list initially. Similarly here. You kept saying last year that he was "figured out" and that his play at the end of the season was what we'd see with Tua moving forward. Wrong again.

Yet your stated view of Tua today is the SAME as it was prior to all this evidence: he's an average to slightly above average QB. There is NO honest discussion about Tua that would lead to exactly the same viewpoint of the guy after all those times your predictions have been proven wrong. The only way you keep that same viewpoint is if you have an agenda: never admit your initial view was wrong.

And once again, crediting he played well is very different from not giving him proper credit by claiming he's just average-ish.

EVERY NFL QB is capable of doing that. If they aren't, they don't make a D1 school or the NFL. Every QB in the NFL is elite when compared to every man who is NOT an NFL QB. This is not hard.

Cbrad, I haven't seen you answer my question:

Do elite stats mean, AND ONLY MEAN, there are ZERO other possibilities, that the QB played elite?

I think this is further evidence you don't even read my posts. It explains a lot. See the post where I explicitly answered your question:
    https://thephins.com/threads/no-contract-extension-for-tua-yet.98495/page-4#post-3565032

In fact, since odds are you won't even read that, let me repost that word for word:

"When I say Tua's stats are consistent with both an elite QB as well as one that isn't, that clearly means there are multiple possibilities. Again, read my posts before responding.

More importantly, based on past debates we've had, you aren't allowing for the possibility that Tua was a major factor in producing those elite stats. You're fine with keeping him if he produces well and remains healthy, but no matter how many times I've asked you to consider the equally viable hypothesis based off of his 2022 data that Tua himself might be an elite QB (yet to be determined), you've refused to do so.

So right now the question is better posed to you: there are ZERO other possibilities?"

Now maybe answer my question: are there ZERO other possibilities than Tua being only average-ish? You never answered that.

LOL..... You've got to be kidding me..... That play will be on every highlight show on repeat, because it is just ho hum? :sidelol:

wait. According to you Tua is NOT CAPABLE of doing that because he only throws to spots pre-determined before the snap. Right??????

You're never going to get him to change his opinion so at this point it's not a debate or honest discussion. Since you know this, why are you wasting your time arguing with him? It's easy enough to ignore people with whom you disagree.

We're one year removed from Tyreek Hill being absolutely roasted by national media for making this comment before training camp:

Dolphins' Tyreek Hill calls Tua Tagovailoa 'most accurate quarterback in the NFL'
Hill is once again backing his new quarterback
    by Shanna McCarriston

    Jul 25, 2022 at 1:48 pm ET•1 min read

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is all in for his new quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and he is once again commenting on No. 1's abilities. Hill has never been one to shy away from saying what he feels, and this offseason he has spoken at length about his faith in Tagovailoa's on-field abilities.

On Monday, Hill was asked what factors contributed to him choosing the Dolphins over the New York Jets while on ESPN's First Take.

"(Jets quarterback) Zach Wilson is a dog, but I'd rather play with the most accurate quarterback in the NFL," Hill said.

When asked to clarify and expand on his comments, Hill dove into what he has seen from Tua.

"I mean obviously, Tua, he's not your typical gunslinger, but if you were to just pay attention to his game, everything is spot on, everything is pinpoint. Ya know, ball is on time. His fundamentals are on point ... Tua, he's a (expletive) heck of a competitor. He's a hell of a hard worker," the Cheetah said.

Hill added that he is excited to work with Tua, someone he clearly has high standards for.

The WR might not be too far off, even though his comments seem like hot takes. On short passes last season, Tagovailoa led the league in accuracy with a percentage of 71.3%, according to PFF. He went 129-for-169 for 1,025 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions on passing ranging from 1 to 9 yards.

Now his completion percentage on the other hand, is not No. 1.

Tyreek Hill says Tua Tagovailoa is "the most accurate quarterback in the NFL."

While some may see this as a supportive teammate, it is a lot of pressure to put on the 24-year-old quarterback who has yet to do anything spectacular in his career.

Since he was drafted with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 draft, Tagovailoa has been injured, benched and has missed the playoffs. There is no counting out his potential as he finds his footing in the league, but Hill's comments have put a bright spotlight on the former first-round pick.

Hill has already called Tua more accurate than his previous quarterback, Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes and said Tua has "one of the prettiest balls I've ever caught in my life."

It changes the overall narrative. Imagine if no one contested claims you disagree with because it seemed like there was no way to change the opinion of those pushing those claims. The result is those claims becoming ever more widespread, dominating the narrative. You have to contest them with evidence for those claims to slowly go away. All that goalpost moving is in large part because people are taking the time to point out previous claims were not accurate. It has an effect, even if one or another poster never changes their view.

I also read that Tua can't throw deep without setting his feet:

    upload_2023-9-11_16-0-33.png

This goes from the left hash at the Miami 20 to outside the numbers on the right at the LAC 35 yard line.

    upload_2023-9-11_16-2-23.png

That must be 60 yards (I have no intention of getting the field measurements and doing the geometry) in the air without setting his feet. His right foot is back (instead of the left) and it is not even touching the ground. If Mahomes or Allen makes this throw, the anti-Tua crowd here is watching it like it is porn.

Mahomes without Kelce (and Hill) didn’t exactly look like Mahomes in week 1. Even then his options were probably still better that what Tua was throwing to in his first 2 years.

Every elite QB needs a plus to ascend.

I used to think you weren’t a Dolphins fan but for someone who isn’t a fan why would you spend so much time here? Personally I’ve never been to a Jets/Bills/Patriots forum in my life so I can’t get my head around why a non fan would spend so much time here.

Anyway back to ignore you go so I don’t derail this thread anymore which is probably your aim.
