Yes it was a great game but

    1. What is going on with our special teams. Coverage is bad and our returns are not good enough. I like Bess as a punt returner but put in Ginn for kickoffs please. I miss seeing Izzo and Ayanb(you know who) making tackle after tackle

    2. How on earth is that a penalty on Holliday for roughing the passer. Terrible call that would have been huge if this game was closer

I hear you about both issues. I was worried that the big returns would spark their team but our defense took that away. I watched the holliday play and for the life of me cannot figure out what the refs were thinking. I guess that is just one of them that was missed.

Both of those are the two major negatives from this game for me. Actually no, wait. Theyre two of the three. The third was the pats' stupid 16-0 "perfect season" banner...

I may be the only one who thought that was a fair call. Holliday drove all his weight into the qb and you cant do that.

^of course you can when the QB still has the ball when you are sacking him... but Cassell had JUST released the ball, you cant let up when you are already putting all your momentum into hitting a guy...

    just a bad bad call

I'm worried about Carpenter's short kickoffs. He isn't getting any touchbacks. We play the Chargers next and I don't want that little guy from K-State(he killed Oklahoma at times) getting to many chances to return one.

It torqued me all game when Solomon kept mispronouncing the Dolphins names. 'Jeremiah' Bell, Samson Satele (long A, say-tell), Darren Hagan, etc. Heck he even got Sparano's name wrong repeatedly. We may not be his media darlings, but he ought to know the head coaches name. Maybe he needs to use the "wisdom of solomon" on himself...

You know what they say. If he could catch, he'd be a receiver.

I abs. love all the nay sayers that say IF Brady was playing we wouldn't have won, because you know Brady plays defense and he could have stopped us from scoring 38 points.

    Darren Sproles.

He didn't just kill Oklahoma though, he was pretty salty against all teams he played, though he did gouge the Sooners for over 200 yards rushing in the Big 12 Championship a few years back.

If LT is slow coming back from the toe injury there's a chance we will see him in the backfield as well.

Put Ginn on kicks and possibly half our ST woes are instantly solved.

Yeah Ginn not in the return game is concerning, with no real reported reason. THought he did just fine at WR.

The roughing the passer penalty well was questionable for sure as he had the qb while he was releasing it, but the fact the game was out of hand and it was still an insulting tacklet to further back up Porters mouth, i'll take it. It also showed me Vonnie was also trying to back up Porter when he said we'll throw everything at him.

The missed INT was frustrating. Our db's looked much better but they have to get better at coming down with the ball.

Soloman may have mispronounced names but for a team he rarely covers, its understandable. He actually had some positives to say about miami, and also admitted he didn't see them playing like this, but highlighted what they were doing right and that if they keep it up it will be successful (more realistic than espn writing Ronnie Brown can't catch out of the backfield.). Reports dont usually admit when they make a prediciton and it doesn't go well.

I thought Fields did a great job on punting yesterday, not only do we know he can coffin kick with the best of them, he has a distance leg too, which we saw yesterday. A coffin punter and distance punter in the same man is not to frequent in the NFL and i think we have a gem at a position often overlooked.

OUr sp teams coverage units def. could have played better, hope they watch film and learn from their mistakes. Good game experience where it didn't cost us a Win and a chance to learn from it.

THought Merling played like a monster. He just blew up repeatedly a top shelf oline, and consistently put out the NE run game. That helped keep the air game to moss out of the question.

Jake long played great, pass pro and run blocking.

I like keeping ronnie in for 2 1/2 quarters, with very limited ricky. Then late in the third and fourth bring in the wrecking ball ricky when we needed to get first downs and kill the clock. NE couldn't stop a fresh ricky at taht point and if we can keep a lead, will really be advantagious for us having a fresh ricky running against a tired d in the fourth. Much better than both getting carries all game.

Good job on our WR and TE's. They caught what was thrown to them, even picking up some underthrown balls.

Pennington, well 17/20 and buying in to the team not even giving him the chance to throw a td, instead lining up at WR. What a team player in my opinion, glad we got results for him because he kept drives going and played for the team, not the stat line. My opinion about him has changed because of yesterdays playcalling.

the Holliday roughing the passer was NOT a bad call.

guys, spearing is illegal regardless of who the player is or the status of the ball. the name of the penalty would just be different, but same outcome. if Holliday had speared their running back, it just would have been "unnecessary roughness", not "roughing the passer."

if you have beef with anyone, it should be with Holliday for spearing.

you know you're guilty when right after a play you look up at the ref to see his reaction, btw....

EDIT: i realize its not spearing - i misspoke. i meant "driving into ground." (see my post below). doesn't really change anything, still illegal.

i would agree if it was spearing, but it wasnt spearing...

spearing is leading with your helmet, Holiday didn't do that at all... he just caught Cassell in a mini-jump while he was throwing it and slammed him down...

read my post above, i just used the wrong term.... corrected myself before you posted.

vonnie didn't catch cassel mid-jump... cassel was throwing off his back-foot while backpeddeling, vonnie picked him up, then drove him down.... still illegal. ;)

I hear ya' on the point #1, just when I think Sparano has got it, he continues with Bess...and the return coverage teams should hang their heads in shame....

As to #2, that certainly was not the spirit of the rule and shouldn't have been called, however, Cassel should not have been called "in the grasp" on the play with Merling...Merling actually slipped right off Cassel...but those are the breaks. My guess is they were giving one back to the Patsies for the Cassel call...
