His contract runs through 2008. But from how I read that, it appears there is a clause in it that can get him out of the final year. I didn't lie to you.

If he does stay he needs to play outside....I just don't think he's as good inside...then again to play outside Bill likes guys that can rush the passer and Crowder's never been that good at that.

    Ozzy rules!!

I think he'd almost have to play inside in a 3-4, but I won't miss him if he leaves unless he goes to New Engladn of course. Belicheck wanted to draft him, there must be something we haven't seen yet.

If I'm Channing Crowder I don't opt out of this contract. Can't see there being terribly much market for guys from a 1-15 team, especially guys who didn't log many sacks, interceptions or fumbles.

I hope that he stays, but he has to stay as an OLB.

But he's good enough to keep until we are certain we have someone better on board before letting him go.

I wish they would've elaborated a little more about Crowder. I wonder what the chances of him leaving are. He seems to love Miami so i'm not too worried. He didn't exactly light it up this year so I bet he'll be back next season playing for his contract year.

I don't hate Crowder but I was dissapointed with his play. He is far from a playmaker and did a mediocre job filling in for Zach at mlb. He also looked really really slow at times. I think by now, we all just expected a lot more from him.

We would be taking a definite step backwards in improving and building this time with his departure.

definately looked slow, especially in pursuit towards the sidelines.

Since this was just his third year as a pro, wouldn't he be opting to become a Restricted Free Agent, rather than an unrestricted free agent? Thus, we could get a 3rd round pick if we lost him (I'd take that)...

Exactly. Crowder is an underachiever who hardly ever makes a big play. He also looks slow.

He's not a dynamic player, but he can hit with the best of them. I'd like to keep him, even if we can get someone better he isn't bad depth.

I'll be happy to see him go,he'll be a restricted free agent so we'll get a third for him . I'll take the pick and watch him walk away.

Don't put words into my mouth. Where did I say anything about getting rid of him? I said I was dissapointed in his play. If you look at my post right before that I said I hope he returns.
BTW, when a defense performs as one of the leagues worst units, yes it is actually time to get rid of a few people. Not "everyone" but I expect the defense to get a major makeover.

Good luck finding a suitor after the way he played this year. His abilities seemed to have thinned, while his waist has done the opposite.

How many of those tackles were behind the LOS? From watching him since he was a rookie, he just doesn't seem to have it. Yeah he can make tackles, but he can't rush the QB like Porter and he doesn't have instincts like Zach. He just seems to be a body on the field. Derrick Pope is a better LB.

If Crowder played as well as he runs his mouth he'd be a Pro Bowler
