Who even said that? Is that even a thing now with at least 11 starting QB's on current teams? And if you watch college games, that number is going to continue to grow.

One of the women on The View said something to the effect that Tua was put back in too soon after his "concussion" because his white head coach didn't care about a black man. Tua's Polynesian so technically not black and McDaniel is mixed race. Sometime I think that people that sit down to eat at the everything is racist table have way more apatite for it then the amount that's being served.

Since I'm the one who recalled this, AGuyNamedAlex was the guy I remembered being really vicious about Tua. Just a few searches:
    https://thephins.com/threads/thoughts-on-benching-tua.95627/page-5#post-3336395
And a post that got deleted but was quoted later in that thread, which I think led to him being banned:
That was religion more than race. There was another poster who went off like that on Tua being Polynesian, but I can't remember which one. It's not the majority for sure, but there are a few anti-Tua posters who just hate the guy.

I don't know but he's so busy saying how Tua is weak and injury prone, then blames Herbert's bad play the last couple of weeks on injuries. Can't make it up.

I did. In the comment before or the one before that. And nothing about race. It just seemed a really strange thing to post out of the blue.

I doubt there's anyone here who gives a crap about Tua's race. His choice of colleges, now...that's an issue.

Polynesia is about as far as you can get from Africa and still be on the same planet. There is no ‘technically not black’, more like ‘how ignorant can someone be?’.

Lord, lacking self-awareness is a sad sad thing. Here's Skip Bayless saying that Tyreek Hill is so great, he's lifted Tua to the best passer rating in the league. Even goes on to say that there's an unsung college QB that he's fond of who's better than Tua. Then, on the same show, Skip went on to sing the praises of how underrated and great Baker Mayfield (who repeatedly failed to use Odell Beckham Jr. when they played together) is. I have no problem with people who think Tua sucks. But when you're this stupid and too prideful to back down, it's better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Skip Bayless has always been an idiot.

There are a LOT of idiots in the sports commentator business. Colin Cowherd, Stephen A. Smith, Mike Florio... the list is long and undistinguished.

Yeah that's ESPN's QBR. Both passer rating and QBR occasionally have head scratchers for single season rankings, but I think on balance there are more head scratchers with ESPN's black box method. Brissett is 21st in passer rating, which makes a lot more sense.

I bet I can guess who you’re replying to. Hitman is giving some sort of excuse as to why Tua played well and isn’t really that good, right?

Im telling you all.. he’s a troll. He’s not a Dolphins fan. Sure REAL fans critique their team, but he’s so far overboard with his rhetoric and ignorance I can’t believe he’s serious. Hence… he’s a troll. Put him ignore. It makes it so much better.

Tua now leads the league in QBR, passer rating, and efficiency. No way is a QB able to do what he’s doing even if they played the worst team in the league every week. We’ve got enough of a sample now to properly judge what he is and he’s an elite QB right now. There are only two questions left and each can’t be known… can he stay healthy and can he consistently keep this play up. If he stays healthy I think he does the latter. Im so damn happy for him. By all accounts he’s a great person.

a blind squirrell can admit Tua is playing at an elite level..

the key is saying you didnt project the talent to do this amongst normal variables.

his first two years was the antethesis of normal.

That means some people are blinder than a blind squirrel. I think there are quite a few posters who haven't posted much lately just waiting to pounce after Tua's next bad game to say his stats thus far are just a mirage and he's not really playing at an elite level. You can see a bit of that happening during in-game threads.

Anyway, tide is turning, and yes it's good to see many posters initially critical of Tua changing their minds.

I was scanning through YouTube yesterday and had the displeasure of watching an "Undisputed" segment with Sharpe and Skip Bayless talking about Tyreek and how good he is. Now, I've never watched Bayless before but from internet postings I knew he was a bit of a shock jock but at the end of the segment he said something like "Hill's best quality is that he is making Tua look like a good QB. Tua's not a good QB, he's small, weak, injury prone. There's a kid at Oklahoma from Hawaii right now that has better arm, is bigger and faster than Tua and is better than him. Tua is only atop the QB rankings because of Hill and the other guy, they are un-guardable".

I'll know from now on to never watch that segment again with horrible takes like that. He sounded a lot like @hitman8 actually. :chuckle:

I agree with Skip in that Tua is small, with a weak arm, and is injury prone, and that Hill and Waddle are making him look better than he actually is. However, I've never said he is not a good QB. I just don't think he is great or truly elite.

If, after all these weeks, you think Tua has a weak arm, then you clearly need to rethink your definition of weak.

Both of those are good stats btw. Many of the stats shown in some other posts either aren't really "stats" (e.g., PFF), are black box methods (e.g., ESPN's QBR), or are good stats but with far too small sample size (e.g., passer rating in different downs/quarters).

Both EPA/play and ANYA have very good correlations to win%. So yeah, Tua is doing real well.

All of that is true. The format is donkeyballs. For the Bears there are almost 2000 posts in one string. That's over 200 a day. With multiple topics in the same string it's almost impossible to catch up if you even miss one day.

And no they are not that welcoming if you're not in "the crew". You don't see it because you're one of the crew. I still pay for this site because I use it regularly and it isn't right to consistently use something and not pay for it IMO.

Exactly.. he’s not going to throw the ball 70 yards, but so? I mentioned this before, but expecting your WR’s to Willie Mays the catch every time is just not smart. Look at the GOATS of this game and you’ll see them throwing the ball so the WR can come back to it on those 20-25+ passes. Typically, you have the defenders back to you and the WR can see the ball better, come back to the ball, which leaves the defender scrambling for position and the catch is made. Just watch Mahomes with Tyreek the past few seasons… very rarely will you see Tyreek running flat out catching the ball over his shoulder. It’s just not realistic. The chances to overthrow or have the pass broken up is greater when that happens.. Unless Tyreek is yards past the defender.. then you see good QB’s leading him… like Tua has done this season. Tyreek is fast, but defenders are also fast and rarely get beat by so much that he’s long past them…I mean, it happens, but rarely.

That’s being a little hyperbolic. People who post a lot and have good posts/opinions/knowledge are definitely replied to more often than those who rarely speak up or are unnecessarily negative or critical, but overall, the Club is very welcoming.
As to the threads getting a lot of posts… I have no problem with that. There’s a function to start where you left off and catching up, even in massive threads, isn’t that hard. There are very few book long posts, and I can finish one page in 2-3 minutes. If I miss a day and get 10 pages behind I’m caught up in 20-30 minutes. Most of the time less because the posts during the game are usually things like “Hell yes!” or “Great catch!” Etc…

    All Bs man…

Y’all don’t let him deter you

We have a weekly thread about the upcoming opponent and post our findings and analysis in that thread, not gonna apologize because we have a lot of posts in that thread, the site automatically takes you where you left off when you leave and come back so I’m not sure what he’s talking about.. you can catch up just fine..

Anyways there a lot of great posters and I find it insulting as hell to accuse the group of being rude to new folks, that’s just not tru even in the least, quite the opposite…

I'm just happy this appears to be working out with Tua. His health should be first and foremost. We can't have another concussion or set back of any kind. Keep him healthy and I think this team can go deep in the playoffs. I also think as long as he's upright, we can be a perennial playoff contending team and that's really all you can ask for. Keep us in the mix to make runs on a yearly basis. I think luck certainly has to be on your side to reach a Super Bowl, but if you make the playoffs and stay in the mix long enough, we'll eventually get to one.
