Nope, That is pretty typical of the going rate for a premier pass rusher these days. Just need him to stay healthy and he will make it worthwhile.
There are broncos fans saying we overpaid… when you got russell wilson for 250 million, you dont get to call out any team for overpay until that contract expires.
Correction, 250 million, two first round picks, two second round picks, fifth round pick, harris and fant… and seattle looks like the best team in their division… and if things go the way theyre looking the first rounders might be in the top 10.. yeah.. get out of here with overpay.. i honestly thought he would get more guaranteed money, close to 85 million. This is team friendly
Glad we locked in that contract. That’s the only way it made sense to give up a first rounder. Here’s to hoping the team doctors made a better evaluation than their Brees evaluation and that he earns that contract. If he does, and we get some of our secondary healthy, this is a team that can compete for a super bowl. After decades of ineptitude, it just feels good to say that. In spite of all our differences over the years, at the heart of it is we all just want our franchise to be a contender.
Good deal. It’s under what people said Chubb was looking for (30M per season) and takes advantage of Tua being on a rookie contract and
Bradley Chubb is a premier pass rusher? When did that happen? Does he have the potential to be? Maybe but so far on the field, he has not realized that potential outside his rookie year. If the Jets signed Bradley Chubb to this deal and gave up a 1st to boot we would be making fun of them right now. $23 million is what you get when you prove it year in year out not when you kinda proved it once 5 years ago on a team in which Miller took most of the attention away. His teammate Dre'mont Jones has 5 fewer career sacks than him on 604 fewer snaps. I honestly don't get it if we could afford to pay Chubb this kind of money why not go after a real premier pass rusher like Von Miller or a cheaper option like Zadarius Smith.
He’s got one of the top 3 highest pass rush win rates this season. Sacks aren’t the only indicator. I’m not saying there isn’t some risk here because he’s had injury issues but he has 12.5 sacks as a rookie, has 5.5 this year and is winning his battles as good as all but 2 players. Hopefully that addition will create more opportunities for Phillips, Ogbah and others. We’re really struggling to get to the QB. With our secondary issues plus the QB’s we’ll face, we need to be able to get pressure with 4 rushers.
Would it surprise you if I said the Phins as a team are top 10 in pass rush win rate? Outside looking in seeing a team in the top 10 would make you think they have one of the best pass rushers in the NFL but we all know the truth about our pass rush. Sacks are a bigger indicator than pass rush win rate that’s for sure. You want to make a pro Bowl/ all pro team/ all decade team/ HOF as an edge rusher you need sacks. Do you think if he was top 3 in pass rush win rate in college every year he started but had half as many sacks he would have been a top 5 pick? No he was a top 5 pick because of his measurables and his production in terms of sacks.
Had to figure that was coming after the trade, be foolish to give up those picks to not extend the guy. Seems like a big deal for a guy who's been a bit.. underwhelming. The talent and potential is there though and he's having a solid year although the stats haven't shown it but Denver isn't exactly in great shape either this year. Hope he comes in and proves to be a massive boost to the pass rush that we desperately needed. Welcome to Miami Chubster! Let's go smash some QB's!
