    SO Cal
I stopped posting. Looking at the game day chat it just reinforces why. I love this board but it’s not fun to come to game day anymore. So many trolls just **** all the time.

    1st quarter looked great.

It looks like Tua hasn’t figured out the speed. He missed some shots that if he hit them in stride they were gone. Is that the timing is off? Is that he just hasn’t had a lot of practice time? I hope it’s the 1st. He’s never had this fast a team so placement is key.

I love that Mike goes for it but dude, go up by 2 scores. Belief in the team is different then you have to make 2 scores.

Noa was getting beat like a an old rug but came up huge when he had to. When you have to man up, man up.

We’re not getting much pass rush.

We so much team speed I love it.

We need to play better but we’re in a position to control our own destiny.

McDaniel didn't look right tonight. He was shaky. Nervous. The Tua concussion nonsense took a toll on him.

Tua was going to be rusty. I expected it, everyone should have expected it.

Igbnoghene was picked on. I feel like he didn't play as bad as people want to make it out to be.

The pass rush is non-existent. Pickett had all day to throw, all day. It's going to be a problem later in the season. Burns from Carolina? I know Carolina said they turned down two 1st rounders for him, but that's BS. Check in on him.

Something is wrong with Edmonds. He is not a good player right now.

Holland finally made a big play tonight. They needed that all year.

They definitely adjusted the defense to help cover for him but he really wasn't bad last week. Safe to say we all would expected much worse if we knew he would be out there as much as he has.

Either way they need Byron Jones back like right now

Special mention for Andrew Van Ginkel. I just love the way this dude plays and I thought he had a great game. One of the tackles he made on a receiver trying to turn the corner looked like footage of a lion bringing a gazelle down. Thankfully, he stopped short of biting him on the throat and incurring an unnecessary penalty.

Are you sure that wasn't Riley? he made a really great play, a couple of them in coverage.

While I agree that we need Jones back, I don’t think that Iggy played all that badly - he just faced the majority of passes thrown, as they only threw at X a couple of times. The week off seems to be the right call for X, as he was his usual self last night.

Hopefully Brandon Jones’ injury isn’t serious.

It could have been. I thought it was AVG but it was late. Now you're making me feel ashamed, as it's like I'm making out that all people with long ginger hair look the same. I don't want folk to think I'm some sort of hairist or anything.

So, McDaniel's ballsy call on 4th and 3 would have worked had Edmonds made the correct read and run off the edge. The hole was there and he had space enough to get the first down if not a touchdown. Coach didn't throw him under the bus, but I'm sure he's going to point it out in film study. I still would have taken the points, but it looks like the call wasn't bad as designed. Between this and Edmonds' drop in this game (and the drop in the end zone of the Bengals game), I'm not going to complain to see Gaskin or Ahmed get more opportunities.

Last night our secondary looked like we were getting ready to return a punt on every snap.

Special teamers Igbinogehne, Bethel and Frejedelum playing near every down roles

This is getting crazy! Byron Jones, Brandon Jones, Needham, Crossen and Kahou.
Even Trill Williams would have probably been playing now if he wasn’t injured.

Edmonds is toast. He is a drive killer as soon as he steps on the field. Yeah his 2.8 YPC is awful. But his dropped passes are even worse. I think Someone else will be given a chance to work in with Mostert next week.

    Our 2nd RB is important.
Mostert has never held up as a true lead back for a full season. He has been great, but can’t be expected to play more than 60% of snaps for obvious reasons.
No way can we trot Edmonds out there 40% of the time…

Edmonds doesn't look like he understands the outside zone scheme. His vision and timing are much more that of a running back in a traditional scheme. Personally, I think Ahmed has the patience and quickness to work well in outside zone. I don't know if he has the vision it takes to find the hole, but it's clear Edmonds makes his decisions too soon.

If memory serves, isn’t that what he talked about (at length) in the preseason? Learning and appreciating the new scheme, especially because it was so different from what he knew in Arizona.

Yeah, even so, you take the points there. No good reason to go for it on 4th down. And yes Edmonds should have run it outside, but it was not a given he would have gotten the first down there even if he had. There was at least one defender unblocked and ready to plug the hole, he would've had to beat that guy to get the first.

I think Mostert does, but he's not an every down back IMO. I'm not really keen on him as a first down back. Speaking of him, his footwork in open space was uncharacteristically bad last night. He should have had a few more yards if he wasn't so tentative when he broke past the line of scrimmage. But he had a generally good game and that's rare for our backs, so I'll leave him alone.

He had a couple of runs that I thought he could have busted for a touchdown but seemed to look for contact after getting to the secondary.

Jets lose Hall and immediately trade for Robinson. I guess the powers that be think our RB room is good enough.

You still take the 3 points. In a tight game, getting into the middle of the 4th quarter. You go up by 2 scores IMO. I kinda like him putting it out were going to have a mentality of putting them away. But I have the Dolphins mentality of we lose to many games and just need a cushion. For my own sanity.

We've killed our conservative coaches in the past for not having any balls and kicking the field goal instead of going for it on 4th and short.

Absolutely. That was not a "hindsight is 20/20" situation because I'm sure 99% of football fans thought it was a bad choice in the moment. It was the first time this season that I thought Coach's inexperience was obvious. And it came in what was subjectively his worst game. Hopefully he will learn from this.

I almost wonder if we might poke around the 49ers and see what they want for Wilson. Alternately, they are getting close to seeing Elijah Mitchell's return.

Edmunds has been a disappointment thus far - but they will probably keep trying to get him on pace.

I know all of the preseason chatter had a lot of excitement for Edmonds but his overall performance this season has been abysmal.

Moestert had clearly shown why he’s RB1 but I’m not really sure who we can clearly say is RB2. Gaskin has barely been used and when Edmonds has been in, he’s been underwhelming.

In my opinion, this was a bad play call by McDaniel. With our SPEED, I believe a jet sweep using either Hill or Moestert would have been the better play but even if it had the same result, McDaniel should have kicked the field goal.

Better to be up by 2 scores than to put so much pressure in the defense to keep Pittsburgh from only needing to score 1 go ahead touchdown.

Everyone has a bad game and hopefully this was McDaniel’s…one he will learn a lesson from.

It was AVG, the tackle I was thinking of. Just seen it on the replay - 3rd qtr and the tackle was on Pickett, when he tried to bootleg to the right, not a receiver as I originally thought. Not that it matters, just relieved I'm not losing my marbles - just yet.

I mean, there was a gaping hole between the left guard and tackle. If Edmonds hit the correct gap, it was a 1st down and probably a touchdown. You're right that McDaniel should have taken the easy 3 points, but we had 7 on that play if Edmonds didn't mess up.

For whatever reason, Edmonds seems to only try to run between the guards. Even if it’s a completely new scheme for him to learn, it would appear that he does not possess the vision to be a great (or even above average) back. We’ll see if he can adapt, but I don’t know how many more chances you give him to get 2-3 yards.

There was a great play by Riley too and at the time I thought it was AVG, but it was Riley. They both had nice plays.
