lol glad we won.. I don't care how uninspiring it was. Just think of how you'd feel if we lost! 4-3. Still in the race. But that was seriously uninspiring.
Get out of jail free! I'll take it but boy was it an ugly game. Night folks, I'm off to bed for 4 hours before I get up for work.
You have to celebrate the close wins. In years past, this was a game we lost. Part of being a playoff team is winning games like this.
This was an ugly win on the coaching and offense. Hopefully this boosts Holland and Igbnoghene. McDaniel's hands were shaking all night, it was almost like after his first prime time game when Tua got hurt, all the spotlight was on him. He coached a really bad game. You had to expect rust with Tua, but after that hot start, I don't know what the hell happened. Whether he was tentative or McDaniel was tentative, no excuse. They needed that win. In the end I don't really care how they got it.
No offense at all dude but I’m tired of this team playing poorly. Tonight was an example of two really bad teams. Nothing but negatives to take away from tonight except some good secondary plays when we needed them (iggy, Holland, and that backup guy). Literally nothing else was positive. Tired of being bad, we are still bad.
What happened is the Pittsburgh defense adjusted and took away the middle of the field. That's how you stop Tua, make him throw outside the numbers.
This game reminds me quite a bit of Miami’s first game this season against the Patriots. Sloppy play and some bad play calls. Tua looked incredible the first possession. The Dolphins were moving the ball at will. Out of Miami’s first 10 plays, 6 of them were for 13 yards or more. Not too sure what happened after that. Tua made quite a few bad throws and through the sheer luck of drops, Tua got away with some definite interceptions. Hats off to the defense for keeping us in the game. I don’t think Pittsburgh is as bad of a team as many here stated tonight and the D held with quite a few back ups. Iggy…welcome to the NFL!! Congrats on your first interception and for winning the game for us.
Man it would have been nice to kick that chip shot field goal and not have to sweat it out so much at the end. All together not exactly one for the archives. W is still nice.
Yeah worst play of the game was McDaniel not kicking a FG to go up 19-10. That is such a terrible decision it's hard to overstate it. He better learn not to do that in the future. I think it's fine to be aggressive on 4th, but not when you can kick a FG to make it a 7+ point lead. Going up by a TD just changes the entire fabric of the game.
Just got back from the game, haven’t been since 2019. What a nail biter, should have taken the 3 points in the 3rd instead of going for it but in the end the defense came up with three picks. Good game.
Felt like a Joe Philbin dolphin win, yeah you pulled it off but you know you’re not going anywhere special
Just watched the replay, missed it live. - After the first 3 drives I thought the O was going to run up 40 points. Pittsburgh changed their D scheme and stopped the O from moving the ball consistently. - The OL has improved from last year but still isn’t good enough. In the 3rd and 4th quarter getting some 5 or 6 yard runs consistently would have helped a lot. - people are banging on about 4 dropped interceptions, but by my count only one of those was a really bad throw, and none as bad as Pickett’s interceptions. It wasn’t like he was putting the ball between the numbers of the DBs. - The D generally played well but they let Pittsburgh and Pickett put together some very dangerous drives.
Ugly win, I went to bed at halftime as I had to get up early today and I didn't miss anything. Good to see defense toughen up and keep points off the board. Backup to the backup DBs are playing ... Ok enough. But man, I want someone who can be a backfield disruptor. Phillips was supposed to be that and he is just not. Might be a big position to target if San Fran struggles. Mostert playing well but Edmunds is disappointing, falls over to easily. Lots of attention on Breece Hall, but man I kind of wish we had gotten Kenny Walker. We had a great game plan to start the game but couldn't adjust to their defensive adjustment which is concerning. Ultimately, Pitt is not a good team, but they are a scrappy, tough and well coached team. A better full game offensive performance would have been nice, but we needed a W. Lions are reeling. They are at the point where they either have a desperate rally game or fold. We have a formula to make Goff look bad, and the offense should control the ball and put up points against a weak passrush and DB unit (though Okudah is playing well). Let's roll.
I do understand why he did that- the offense had some momentum and a 1st down keeps the clock running. So I'm not hating that they went for it. What I did hate, however, was the play call running it up the middle. Let Tua scramble for it on a bootleg, run that outside zone that was frequently going for 10 yards per play. Throw a quick slant to Waddle or Hill. But don't run it up the middle when that's been shut down all night long. I mean, we're literally a RPO offense and Pitt stacked the box. It was clear that we weren't going to win at the guard position.
he has been pretty bad, his throws have certainly been off the mark and he has done nothing to disprove his lack of arm strength. Hoping he was just rusty on his accuracy.
Yeah, i was screaming on that one. take the 3 points!!! up by 9 against a team that struggles scoring... seems logical to me. Coach was sweating bullets later in the game.
With four straight scoring drives this could have easily been a 24-10 win. But it also could have been a 24-16 L with the amount of crap balls Tua threw. 3rd and 4th and short conversions have been an issue this season. What was McDaniels thinking not taking that FG in the 3rd Quarter?
Me who had Jason Sanders going against him in a very close Fantasy game last night: "Well, that's cool but..." Dolphins fan me: "That's really ****in' stupid."
