I just pulled the quotes from an article so you don't have to click to another site: “I wouldn’t say it was scary for me at the time because there was a point where I was unconscious, so I couldn’t really tell what was going on,” Tagovailoa told reporters. “When I did come to and kind of realize what was going on and what was happening, I didn’t think of anything long term or short term. I was just wondering what happened.” “After I got tackled, I don’t remember much from there,” Tagovailoa said. “Getting carted off, I don’t remember that. But I do remember things that were going on when I was in the ambulance and then when I arrived at the hospital.” Tua acknowledged Wednesday it’s been a “pretty stressful” few weeks. That's some pretty scary stuff and I hope he's feeling fully recovered. I'll be nervous this weekend for him and I hope that line really picks it up to keep him protected. Even if they have to hold someone and take a penalty; I'd be good with it if it avoided him getting leveled from the blindside.
He had a concussion, I'm sure he blacked out for a couple minutes. Burrow said he doesn't remember whole entire games. This is the profession they have chosen. They know the risks. Guys are playing in the league with 4+ concussions to their names right now. We have to stop with the "I'm worried for him every time he drops back". Someone will probably get a concussion in the game, it's just the way it is. Kenny Pickett might be starting and he suffered a concussion last Sunday. Pat Freiermuth has had two concussions this season already, he will be back playing Sunday. Let it go. It's football. They don't care, you shouldn't either. Tua will learn from his mistake and this concussion and become an even better player for it.
I think it would be best if he shared less with the media when it comes to this subject. From now on, talk about Sunday. If they dont respect your decision, then just walk out. it’s his decision, his brain his life. We have got to start tuning out the media about this subject. If he gets another concussion this season it will likely be season ending for him, especially if its this Sunday. But until that happens (hopefully not) enough with answering questions about it. we have exhausted and gave every possible answer there is to give the last 3 weeks.
It’s funny how no one is turning the spotlight on Mike Tomlin and the Steelers who have 2 players in the protocol and are both expected to play on Sunday.
Why was Pickett allowed to practice yesterday if he was in concussion protocol yet Teddy wasn’t allowed to practice last week until Friday?
Maybe different levels of the protocol? There's several stages before players are fully cleared to take the field, and there's a stage between "practicing" and "playing in games". My guess is that Teddy cleared the last few stages rapidly, where Pickett isn't quite to gaining full clearance yet.
Memory loss is very common after a concussion. I had a pretty good concussion when I was around 14, and I have zero memories of what happened or anything that happened the rest of the day.
The protocol doesn't have defined time periods. Just goals. It's up to the individual teams, doctors and players as far as timetables. Dolphins will be extra conservative from here out, IMO.
The better question to ask is where is the sports media OUTRAGE over him coming back to play after suffering a concussion last week...when they were meticulously critical over every little detail concerning Tagovailoa? Pickett is being evaluated and treated by team physicians. Tagovailoa has seen four separate neurologists none of which have anything to do with the NFL and yet...Its too soon for Tua to come back but Pickett? Oh, well if Mike Tomlin says it's ok and we're going to follow the advice of the medical staff, then no one bats an eye, but Tua who has gone above and beyond?
The Dolphins just need to go undefeated the rest of the season, win the Super Bowl and just rub it in everyone's face
