I've done the same, and it's paid dividends. I came to realize that I shouldn't let something I have no control over dictate my happiness week in and week out. I still enjoy Dolphin victories but the losses don't really phase me that much anymore. This team has really bad ownership and has been making terrible decisions for over 2 decades. Those of us still here are die hards for sure, but it's ok to lose a little bit of the fanaticism after being beaten down by the years of mediocrity. Especially when we see teams like the Bills and Jets finally starting to get it right, especially the Bills. Here's hoping Tua can come back and get the season back on track, but I won't be holding my breath.
Tua seems to be physically soft, and this OL seems soft. I have to question if Tua will last the season. I feel Skylar can (eventually) be the man.
This. I watched the games on NFL access and can see them in 45 minutes. I do not miss the life game 3 hour time wasted at all.
Probably a lot on this board are the same, I know I am. 20 years of complete mediocrity and the same mistakes over and over takes it toll on anyone.
Not even remotely the same, and you know that, but say this **** anyways. That's why you're a troll who likes to instigate.
I don't judge those who choose to alter their intense interest but personally there's no way I can do it. Spent far too many years waiting/hoping for consistent championship caliber play to quit now. Again this is not a dig at those who had enough, I get it.
Thompson missed a ton of games in college due to injury and got injured in his first NFL start, but he's gonna be more durable than Tua, right? The original commenter said Tua isn't durable and Thompson has a chance to be the guy because of that. Give me a break. If you can't see how much of a bad evaluation is then I don't know what to tell you.
How many future franchise QB's were labeled a " can't miss" after their first NFL start.? How many were a guaranteed bust after their first start ? That's where the " one never knows " comes in.
Ohh... we're back to Skylar being a franchise QB again? Cool. There's simply no evidence to say that right now. He looked serviceable in limited time, but nothing there screamed OMG that's Peyton Manning! Drew Brees! Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady rolled into one! Ya'll need to take a step back on this kid and lets see how things play out because right now if you're being honest with yourself the odds are he won't be a franchise QB. Very few ever are. Lets just slow down a bit here and see where things go. He was a 7th rounder and likely to go undrafted for reasons. I'm not saying he was awful, but lets not get carried away with the franchise QB stuff.
There are a lot of labelled "can't miss" prospects that bomb. There are incredibly few low-rounders that succeed.
Thompson was good enough to earn a roster spot and did better than anyone would expect from a 7th round rookie. At worse he can be a capable backup that makes Bridgewater expendable.
Good God dude, get a grip and get off the ledge. We lost three games without our starting QB. I usually say that when we’re officially eliminated from playoff contention before I cry like a *****
It's a bit easier for me being from the UK, I can avoid NFL news if I want to pretty easily. Been following the Dolphins since NFL games started in the UK in the mid 80's and I'd say over the last 5 years the constant of having a terrible offence with the same mistakes every year, a mid tier defence that will eventually collapse and finishing around .500 took it's toll. I just started avoiding Dolphins news during the week, gradually stopped going to message boards but I would still watch the game on Sunday. I used to do everything in my power to make sure I was home for 6pm on a Sunday to watch the game but even that has become "if I'm home I'll watch but I'm not going out of my way to watch it". This season was the first one in a long time I was excited for as we actually have top tier receiving talent and what looks like a good offence with guys getting open and a returning defence that should have been mid tier at worse. Injuries are killing us just now but if we can get healthy I still think the playoffs are achievable.
The feeling is mutual, I don't judge anyone still hanging in there with passionate fortitude. What I've done sounds great on paper - "Enjoy the wins, but don't let the losses get to you" but it's not without a cost. If you don't let the losses crush your soul, then the wins aren't quite as sweet. It's a balancing act, and each person has to do what's right for them and their mental health. I think we can all agree, neither course of action is as bad as picking a new favorite team so **** all those jerks!
I mean, we are 3-3 with a rookie coach who for the last 3 games hasn't had a starting QB finish a game. If we finish the year with a losing record and behind the Jets/Pats then we can definitely revisit that idea, but this is just silly atm. A healthy Tua and we are likely 5-1 at worst. Literal first overall pick from a family of highly successful QBs vs some random guy from the 7th round?
What does that have to do with anything ??? All I said was I thought Eli would never be a franchise QB. I was wrong. Point is , no one knows for sure regardless of draft position.
My bad, I mis-read that post. Looking back on it now someone said he never will be. So I either misread it, or thought it was in response to someone say he has a chance to be, or should be starting etc. etc. We did already have a thread on that, but my mistake here.
I have done the same as well. In fact, this past Sunday I got out of church, went grocery shopping, and was about to work out in the yard at 2PM when I thought of the game recording. It was honestly a great feeling to be a little more detached. I love the Dolphins as much as ever, but I just don't live for them anymore. Family is far more important and if I miss a game or have to watch it a few days later, so be it.
Well, Grier is a big part of why we haven't had a starting QB be able to finish a game. He picks injury prone QBs and puts them behind the worst offensive line in the league. What else do you expect? Grier should have been shown the door along with Flores, or before Flores even.
Well I can tell u won't last on this forum long. U just can't help but insult people.First insinuating I'm a ***** and then the genius comment.Just giving u some advice u better tone it down or u will be kicked off.I have been close to being banned myself that is why I won't shoot back at u not because of lack of thick skin.
Ohhh good! that makes me feel better! I could have sworn I read something along those lines in this thread, but I didnt see it when I went back and looked. At least now I dont feel like im going crazy!
