Yeah, but we lost 3 games, 2 in pathetic fashion, without even a true backup QB. In the past we were average even with our starting QB. That part may not be same old same old. We'll see from next week when we get Tua back.
I don't just hate the dolphins I truly think I just hate football.20 years of garbage has destroyed my passion.
Meanwhile the Jets are 4-2 and in 3rd place in the AFC. In one off-season. Meanwhile Grier gets handed 9 picks in 2 rounds over 2 years and it’s a case study in what not to do.
I’m convinced we are a 6-0 team right now if Tua could have taken every offensive snap this year. And at the same time, I’m not convinced we are a good team….
Maybe you should find a new passion then? Why torture yourself? I've taken a different approach with both Miami Dolphins football and fantasy football. Both would consume my Sundays and have me on edge throughout the incoming week. I finally realized that I was spending too much time on these things and that they weren't good for me. I still do both, but I finally stopped being so immersed in them. It's been much better.
Yea I have also lost interest in fantasy also . Not sure why I waste Sunday after Sunday watching the same disappointing team.I was actual delusional thinking this year was finally different.
It was different up until the point where Tua got his head slammed. Keep in mind that it IS a long season. We're obviously not winning a game without Tua like him or not. If last year taught me one thing, it's that the football season is a bit of a rollercoaster ride. We were 1-7 and finished with 9 wins on the year and had the last playoff spot in our grasp until the Titans stomped us. Right now, we're 3-3. We've got Pittsburgh next week, I know they just beat the Bucs, but that should be a "get right" game for us. It won't be easy, I don't see us running them off the field, I think it'll be low scoring, but I think we'll get it done. After that, maybe the team will start playing with confidence again.
I think we win this game if Skylar hadn't had a thumb injury. I do like what I saw from him. I think we could win games with Thompson.
This x1000. If you’re going to draft a small QB who can’t stay healthy in college, you can’t give him the worst OL in the NFL.
Big issue with Skylar is his slow decision making. He holds on to the ball way too long. If he can learn NFL speed he can be a good QB. In his current state though I think we lose more than we win. Maybe next year he'll be ready.
Thank you Chris grier for wasting draft picks on horrible lineman and then trying to fix it by paying the most money in nfl for an injury prone LT while we have a lefthanded small qb.
Can't take issue with bringing in Terron. He missed a game, lots of players and linemen do, it is what it is. I don't understand why we can't draft a good OL to save our lives though. Not just a Grier issue either. Some of the other busts I put more on Flores than Grier. Long for instance was a clear Flores pick. I also have a very hard time believing Noah was not a Flores special. At the end of the day though, we are 3-3 and if our QB was available we should be 6-0. I get it, he isn't available, but this is not a bad team. It's a good team that needs good QB play to be at it's most effective and neither Skylar nor Teddy can do that. I had a lot more hope for Bridgewater than he has shown so far, total letdown on him. I'm good with waiting awhile before we anoint the Jests and declare ourselves dead though.
Sorry but u can't pay a guy that much money that has never played a full season to cover up your draft mistakes!Grier has to go.
Where are you getting this about Long and Noah being Flores picks? If anything Flores before he left was complaining about not having enough say over personell, so I doubt he had final say over any draft picks. This is all on Grier. He has final say over all draft picks and personell decisions. He is the one ultimately responsible.
I agree, Skylar was looking good for the reps that he got. Heck, on that one drive with all the penalties he probably had 150 yards, LOL. He looked much better with a game plan. I want to say better than Bridgewater, but Teddy didn't practice this week so that's a little unfair. Still, I think Skylar could turn into a solid #2 down the road based on what we saw today.
Nah I'd have been much more angry at signing a marginal talent to a big contract. Armstead is an absolutely elite player and a complete offensive fit. The inability for this franchise to draft even a good OL is perplexing though, absolutely. But it's a spot I'm willing to spend FA money on.
Same ole dolphins??? Jesus dude, we’re playing musical chair QBs every week. What are you even talking about
OMG! YES!! Because I had to work all day. I just finished watching the game on GamePass. I watched the condensed version because I have to get up early. I didn't see what happened to Skylar. I just saw Teddy come in and was so extremely pissed. I thought they pulled Skylar. F! He was playing really well. I mean....I was impressed. I was psyched! Just our damn luck!!!!! WT-???????????
Old news. Really? I’m talking the state of the Fins this year. Why even bring up since Marino. We know what we have
The Long thing is fairly well known. Flores went to BC to scout someone and was super impressed by Long and made drafting him a priority. If you don't understand how a DB coach would advocate for a CB then I don't know what to tell you bro. Flores had significant input on picks. Part of his appeal was his scouting background in New England and part of the way to get him on board the tanking was to give him major input in the rebuild. That said, I haven't heard him linked much to OL picks which has been our team's achilles heel for way too long. I mean, you can throw a dart at a list of every Notre Dame OL from the past 10 years and you'd likely get at least an OK to solid starter. We ended up with Eichenberg. And traded up to do it. Thing is that he was fairly highly regarded - it's not like we reached a few rounds for a guy projected to a 4th rounder, we just settled on the dude who would turn out to suck when every other ND lineman is gold. Or we could have taken Creed, who was an obvious pick. I don't get it.
I'm actually with you on this. We wouldn't have lost today with Tua; that's for sure. If Teddy put up over 300 with 2/2... imagine what Tua would have done the way he was playing? Cincy game... we dont lose that one with Tua all game. The Jets game I'm a little undecided on but I think with Tua we would have won. This OL in a way is responsible for 3 qb's to play this year, and all of them were removed from a game due to injury. And I'm actually with you on the last part too... because this team should be better than it is. Even with Tua. Yet every win was pretty tight, and every loss was pretty bad in its own way for its own reasons. With a competent OL and a good run game I'd be more convinced we're a good team but that's just not the case.
Jets are becoming a real problem. They’re better than given credit for. They have more young talent than us that are showing up on a weekly basis
Well, for being Flores picks, it's strange he benched both of them early on and buried them in the depth chart. Not what you usually do with "your guys". Either way Grier is the one who signed off on them, he's not getting of the hook since he officially has final say over all draft picks. Passing the buck on to your coach when a draft pick fails is not how things should work if you are the one ultimately responsible. And regarding Eichenbergh, picking linemen based on their school is just a lazy way to draft. They made the same mistake with Deiter from Wisconsin. Grier and the scouting department just don't know how to spot a good offensive lineman unless it's a #1 overall talent that falls to them at #13, which is what happened with Tunsil. Tunsil is the only really good lineman they have drafted in the last six years.
Jets are definitely talented. I'm still not sold on Wilson, he takes some really unnecessary hits and makes some real bonehead plays that if Tua made would be crucified. The Dolphins could afford to lose this Vikings game. It was a game against a pretty good non-conference opponent with the 3rd string rookie quarterback starting, and they had a really good chance to win nonetheless. To me, the season starts back next Sunday night. Tua is back, Miami is a big favorite, they are celebrating the 72' team, throwback uniforms...they need to win that game, and win that game going away. They need a 31-10 win. The schedule is really soft after that. I know you hate to hear it after starting 3-0...but if you said in August that Miami would be 3-3 after that brutal opening to the season, you would be happy.
I guess u haven't been watching for the last 20' years like I have. These team is going nowhere with offensive line.if u think Tua last the season I don't know what to tell ya.
We ruined Tannehill behind a terrible line. His pocket sense was terrible but if you kept him clean he could win you games yet we gave him terrible line after line. Now we have a QB who has the talent and is beginning to look like a franchise QB but is injury prone. Yet again we are setting everything against him with a terrible line. When are we going to learn that for an offence to be consistent you need an OL that can keep your QB upright. A good OL can make an average QB look good yet a poor OL can make even the best QB look poor unless they are super mobile and run for their lives. I went and checked PFF for the last 10 years on OL rankings (I get PFF are subjective but it's better than nothing) just to make sure my memory wasn't playing tricks on me. 2012: 23 2013: 21 2014: 32 2015: 31 2016: 30 2017: 29 2018: 31 2019: 32 2020: 28 2021: 32 I'm not sure where we rank this season as I'm not a PFF subscriber but I'm willing to bet after yesterday it will be in the high 20's again. How can one team be so inept at trying to find 5 big guys that can block for 2.5 seconds?
please, been a fan since 79, however I know a lot about the game and I know what I’m seeing. I just don’t throw in the towel like you and others. Played this game until two years into college and any team I was on you just kept marching on
