Naw, having watched the game, it was just one of those things where a couple bad plays just start an avalanche of crap. And in previous years, we would have just laid down and died when that happened.
My first half take on Tua was incorrect and I have never been happier to be wrong. Tua saved us, all hail Tua.
Will you do the Tua QB ratings for us this year like you used to with RT? Would be an interesting experiment to follow.
If you mean the statistical significance of the ratings compared to the past? Yeah I can do that. Have to wait a few more games before we can start because the confidence interval is so large right now virtually any "real" rating is consistent with 2 games.
If they keep winning we're all going to have to give Stephen Ross credit for finding the right HC. He should stay away from the limelight yeah, but he'll have finally gotten the most important piece of the puzzle right. Ross is also right in trying to get this franchise a franchise QB. He might have made some boneheaded decisions, but all that gets wiped clean if we keep winning. That's ONLY if we keep winning of course.
I will give him credit for allowing Grier to hire McDaniel after he failed to cheat to get Peyton. **** Ross!
Having just watched the highlights, there were some key moments in the comeback, none more so than Mike Gesicki brilliant grab for his TD. That might just have been the spark that ignited the confidence in the team that the win was possible. Alec Ingold made at least two great blocks, and it’s the unsung heroes like him that allow the stars like Tua, Jaylen and Tyreek to flourish. As much as I want Tua to succeed, I must admit, after last week, I wasn’t convinced that he was going to become the QB we all want him to be. And although one swallow doesn’t make a summer, I a much more positive about his chances after last night. The two deep throws to Tyreek were excellent, as was his whole performance throughout the second half. Waddle and Hill brilliant and showed that the Miami Dolphins' deep threat is real. Defensive Coordinators are going to have nightmares trying to work out how to nullify what they can do to them. It was a fantastic, very enjoyable game of football, but I hope we aren’t going to give our opponents a 21 point lead every week.
Gisecki actually had several huge catches throughout the 2nd half, and it's obvious now that he has a place in this offense. But yeah, that TD catch...the announcers later said that he caught it slightly above the uprights. Amazing, career defining catch!
It was amazing how he managed to jump so high to catch the ball, and yet still land both feet in bounds.
Hopefully we can talk about it reasonably. I'm psyched that we won, but I'm more excited that Tua finally showed greatness, for a quarter. We need more of that, and less of the first 3 quarters. He can't just do this once a year. Hopefully this is simply the beginning.
Tua showed up for sure, but I’m gonna give a lot of credit to McD. In the past, coaches would try to lessen the damage and become conservative. McD (and therefore the team) actually kept playing to win. This game hopefully has a huge impact with the mindset of the team to always keep fighting to win.
It took 7 Quarters for McDaniels to employ the . . . Hey #10 Go Deep!!!! Strategy. Better late than never. The Defense was horrawful most of this game. Reminded me of the 1-7 stretch last year. I'm glad most QBs the Dolphins face the rest of the way are NOT Lamar Jackson. Josh Allan will obvs be tough, but playing the likes of Joe Burrow will feel like a vacation compared to this game.
Rewatching the game, Terron Armstead is a beast! No one can get past him. His health will play a big role for this team going forward.
I doubt most of us are full of ourselves. We're just trying to enjoy the win and the nature of the win. I fully expect the Bills to kick our *** next Sunday, so why not have fun while the win is still fresh?
but if they DONT? look out. Just duck and cover. I dont even need a win. Those guys are insane. Hang with em. BUT IF SOMEHOW...? this place will be swinging on the chandeliers crazy
I don’t know about full of ourselves; it’s just that it’s been so long (since the Marino era) that we had a game like that and a qb performance like that, we don’t know what to do with ourselves. Buffalo is still the schoolyard bully of the AFC East until we prove otherwise.
I don’t expect an *** kicking, even if we lose. I do have a feeling though that after the ravens game, this is going to be a slug fest against Buffalo on Sunday.
I will believe we can beat the Bills when it happens. Right now, watching Buffalo score at will going back to last season, I am expecting something like 36-21, 32-17 or something in that vein.
Tua can hit a receiver for 60 yards over the top. That narrative has been put to bed. . . I hope. I don't know how people could have ever doubted that he couldn't. But the evidence is right there. Talking Head Talking Points have been completely discredited. Now the Ravens had negligible pass rush in the 2nd half. Can that hold up against Von Miller and Co? We'll see.
they all deserve that crap, hopefully some lessons have been learned as to not talk in such dumb absolutes..
Excuse me? They didn't hit them in stride. I didn't say that was a bad thing. I was simply correcting a previous posters student statement.
You know, he’s not called the cheetah for nothing. Tua didn’t really under throw those passes as much as the cheetah out ran them.
No that first TD pass to Hill was clearly underthrown. Worse, if the DB was looking back at all that's an INT. Doesn't matter, it's part of the game. Hill is going to get behind defenses many times this year, and DBs aren't always going to be looking back for an INT. No reason to think these types of TDs are a one game fluke. They could be.. maybe defenses do all they can to shut down the deep ball, but that just means the intermediate stuff opens up more. You know.. we may finally see a top 10 offense this year. Last time Dolphins had a top 10 offense by points scored was in 2001. I have a good feeling this year breaks the trend.
Here’s another thought on that first king deep TD throw to Hill; it’s possible that Tua threw the ball just a half second too late.
