Lack of improvement that took on a different challenge as each week past? I am going to look this up, but I feel that each week as the season progressed, we were losing starters. And in losing starters, we had to play 2nd string and rookies... This has continued throughout the year and for them to get 1 win is a blessing in itself! You have to really look at the dynamics at each position... As an example the MLB, Zach, calls the plays for the DL... Then Crowder, then rookie? The secondary is set up the same way...

We have had 14 different starting formations on the defense this year and 10 different starting formations on offense...

Now I will agree that he has made some mistakes with the clock and some questionable play calls, but overall, I think he did quite well with what he had at hand...

The injuries piled up on defense, not offense. The offense didn't show much spark, and no improvement, outside of Ronnie's abbreviated career year, and Cam wasn't able to build anything off of that when he had it.

Through 4 and a half games Cam had Green and Brown, and Cleo Lemon who played about as well (or as below average) as Green through his first 7 games. Both those guys knew Cam's system. Ronnie was on fire, and yet the offense still lacked consistency.

The offensive line regressed later in the season and they didn't have to overcome a single injury.

Someone (Parcells looming above?) finally lit a fire under David Martin's *** in week 17. Why did Cam accept such a poor performance from this guy through the first 16 weeks?

I give Cam a pass on Beck, Lo Booker and splitting Brown's carries early on. You could argue that he was ignorantly holding them all back just as easily as you could argue he was holding them all back until he thought they were ready for more.

I know we were decimated by injuries this year. But you have to give a reference point when you throw out 10 starting formations here and 14 starting formations there. What is the league average? How much worse could it have been before an optimist like yourself wouldn't say that Cam did "quite well?"

Other than the offensive line, for whom you would still have to give Houck most credit, what unit or player got better under Cam, and truly due to Cam's leadership? Did the Dolphins pull off their 1 victory because Cam is a great coach who somehow pulled together a ragtag group?

I'm racking my brain to come up with one positive for this guy. The fact that the team didn't tear each other apart? Chris Rock would say "you're not supposed to tear each other apart."

Fin I agree this was more of a factor in letting Mueller go than the players he drafted.

Yeah, did you watch the Colts Titans game?

    Remember Aromashedou (sp)?

Didn't we draft that guy 2 years ago? Now he is the starting WR for the Titans.

He started for the Colts last night due to it being a meaningless game and injuries to some of their other WRs ... he has 7 receptions for 96 yards on the year, so it's not like he's lighting the world on fire up there. Last night, he had a key dropped pass during the failed Sorgi-led comeback attempt.

Mueller definitely blew it via non-draft maneuvers. As much as I like Satele, I'll always link him to the Welker situation, which has the potential to make NE a monster team for years. I don't think there's a 1% chance NE would be unbeaten without Welker. So Mueller can be blamed for the 19-0 season and what it does to Dolphin '72 unique immortality, if the Pats do finish this off. I know I'll always think of Rex Ryan and Mueller.

And that has to be part of the evaluation, what you are doing for a division rival. At least Spielman and Wanny and Saban donated to irrelevant teams like Philadelphia, Chicago and Minnesota.

Otherwise, I liked the '07 draft. Mueller seemed to have a better feel for outstanding traits than previous GMs. There wasn't one guy I could dismiss as pure camp fodder, although Soliai has been disappointing from a talent standpoint.

This may seem weird, but I liked Mueller because he seemed like a normal guy, much more than others we've featured lately. Saban is an arrogant moron, the only coach of any of my favorite teams who I genuinely despised, and long before the Alabama episode. Cameron is simply too meek and non-demonstrative and odd. I hope we can him after reading the Herald blurb that many of the assistant coaches don't like him due to being judgmental with too much religious emphasis. I can certainly relate to that. The worst job I ever had was 20+ years ago when my boss was like that. I still remember his attempted knock on me. "Look at the rest of us. We all have tributes to Jesus on our walls. You have nothing."

I got out of there ASAP at that point. It was uncomfortable beyond description. Not that I'm anti-religious. My mom has been in the hospital for more than a week after a diabetic coma on the morning of Christmas Eve -- 4 days in critical care -- so I've been praying plenty, and briefly posting only during gaps in the visiting hours. But that theme has no business in workplace situations, and the most religious people indeed seem to be judgmental and often overbearing in that regard. My opinion of Cameron dropped when I read the little blurb. Assuming it's accurate.

Hope your mom gets better Awsi. Nice post. I don't remember the details, but it seems like Welker should have been signed to an extension long before hitting restricted free agency.

Not really sure what to make of this. Most of the horrible moves made were by Saban and at CamCams request (Beck and Ginn) but he did make a good move in ditching underachieving Chambers.

All in all I dont really see the point to having a GM with Parcells there. Either he makes the choices or his coach makes the choices.
