A lot of people are expecting the Cowboys to act fast and find a veteran to fill in for the now injured Dak.

Lots of Garrapollo rumours. But his contract in very expensive and would cost the Cowboys a lot more in draft capital (If 49ers are even willing to trade him after that Lance performance).

    This NFL agent thinks Bridgewater to Dallas might be the answer ;

    Thoughts on the idea ?

I’d assume we might be able to get a 3rd round pick at best…

I would take him 3 or 4 weeks to get up to speed and then Zak might be back by then. If we could get a 3rd for him it's tempting. With the O Line play Tua may not make it the entire season so there is that. I would say swap strait up for an O Lineman but that once strength looks like its now depleted with the Cowboys.

You brought up an interesting point on Lance being on a short leash after yesterday's performance. Jimmy G is right there and we have the first round pick of the 49ers.

If you were in San Francisco, how long would you be giving Trey Lance to sort his game out before benching him all whilst knowing that you can't draft another QB in the first in the 2023 draft?

I'd probably hold on to Ted for now. IF the offer was too good to pass up then yeah...Let him go. Thompson clearly has a future in this league and hopefully it's with us. Bridgewater is definitely expendable, but it would have to be for no less then a 3RDP

I would consider it IF the trade included Teddy for a rotational offensive lineman. They breed OL in Dallas like feral cats, and that would immediately impact our roster as well as theirs.

If it's just a 4th rounder or something like that though, then I'd pass. We need to get value from any sort of deal.

Yeah I didn't think of that! I'd definitely trade him for another O Lineman. Need all the help we can get from that spot.

Trading Bridgewater would open another slot on the 53 man roster.

I’d pull the trigger on a Bridgewater trade in a New York minute! Thompson has clearly demonstrated to me that he has command of the offense and could step in if Tagovailoa goes down.

The dolphins will trade him in a heartbeat if the cowboys offer a 4th. And honestly, bridgewaters agent will push for the trade.

With McGovern and Tyron Smith already being out, I'm not sure if the Cowboys have any spare offensive lineman.

They aren't trading him for an offensive lineman.

If they do trade him it will be for a pick with an escalator.

I loved the way Skylar Thompson threw the football this preseason. It always looked to me like Bridgewater wasn’t happy this summer playing behind Tua.

I never said that they were. I said that I would trade him for an offensive lineman.

Trade Teddy, Our first and third next year and whatever other 3rd stringer they want.

Agreed, Bridgwater is not much better than Brisset last year, and we have Skyler. If they offer a fourth I'm pulling the trigger.

Plus, I doubt we’d want any of their remaining OL, given their performance against Tampa.

Unlike years past the Cowboys don't have any O lineman left that are worth anything on the roster. They did not look very good on Sunday night.

It's very tempting to trade Bridgewater and roll with Thompson as the backup. I would be pretty concerned having an untested rookie as our backup even if he looked as good as Thompson in the preseason.

Not making THAT comparison as it’s blasphemy, but Marino was an untested rookie when Shula benched his Super Bowl quarterback in Woodley.

Sometimes you just have to have faith in the man. I really think there’s a reason Thompson is on the active roster.

Well I really like having Skylar on the team but he is a lot more green than Dan was when he was a rookie.

Dolphins aren’t trading Teddy. If Tua keeps playing like he did on Sunday Teddy will be starting very soon.

Even more of a reason to trade Teddy. Elevate Sklyar to 2nd string and see what he can do.. Miami is a borderline, 1 and done playoff team with Tua. They will likely be one and done or sitting home for the playoffs with Bridgewater. Maybe we hit with Sklyar and he balls out or maybe he sucks.. But at least we will find out if he could be the future.. If not, back to the drawing board next year. Hopefully the 49ers continue to play like trash or we will rue the day Ross lost us that 1st round pick

At least Thompson can get beyond his first few reads and can throw when pressure is in his face or without being set.. That throw to EE proved it.. I didn't think he had the arm strength after the first preseason game but he really grew on me and I saw throws I thought he was incapable of making.

I've been suspicious of Tua's abilities for a while now and I'm almost at the point of certainty where I can comfortably say that he will not be the guy to lead us to a deep playoff run. I don't see the requisite physical skills nor do I see him overcoming his deficiencies when things go off script. ****ing sucks but it is what it is. This season is on the verge of taking a very bad turn. If I had to bet on Tua becoming the guy we thought he'd be this offseason or who he has been, I'd sadly have to pick the latter. That newfound strength and healed hip looks identical to what we've always seen with him- Overmatched physically, afraid to run and if he holds the ball too long a disaster waiting to happen, especially if he is on the move.

The fact that Tua has a winning record as a QB is a near miraculous testament to how good the defense has been against inferior opponents with opportunistic scores and domination. X alone has been the difference multiple times. This is a team that needs an act of god to put up 350 yards of total offense or score 3 offensive TD's - in a league that requires a strong offense against the stack of QB's we'll be facing this year.

I agree he has to learn when to tuck it and run. If he unlocks that, his game can go to another level because I do think he is pretty athletic.

I don't agree with you saying Skylar Thompson has a better ability of going through his progressions based on one preseason pass against guys bagging groceries right now. That just seems nonsensical.

Look, I have not been Tua's biggest fan, but hell no. McDaniel wants Tua to play EXACTLY like he played Sunday. Play it safe, not turn the ball over, distribute the ball short to the fast guys and let them get YAC.

Your strategy is to choose between Miami being a probable playoff team with Tua, or throw in a 7th round rookie quarterback and hope you find Tom Brady or go 1-16.

Brilliant. Why are you not a general manager in the NFL?

What are talking about? Tagovailoa did exactly what he was asked to do, save those two plays he tries to do something as he was about to be sacked. At that point, we were so far ahead of the Patriots that there was a viable risk to reward.

Tua played just fine and barring any injury to Tua, dishwater won’t be starting any time soon

Relax, young Padawan, for we're 1-0 and about to play three near impossible games. We should lose the next two out of three if we're last year's team...even if we're the 2nd half version of last year's team. These next three weeks will tell us a ton about this team's heart, Tua's growth, and what we really have.

Playoffs? You want to talk about playoffs? LOL, I had to throw that in there. What I'm saying though is that so far this season, we're perfect. It's not time to go negative or count Tua out just yet. Bridgewater and Skylar are waiting in the wing for a reason, and it's a smart move. If we need them, so be it, but we're still perfect. 1-0. Not time to panic.
