I don't blame him. The OL has been terrible. Why else are we being forced to pass instead of running out the clock.
Game set match, that should be it. Good win to start the season, but this was more the Patriots being bad than us being good.
Armstead and the new coaches were the only upgrade we made to the line. Shouldn't be much of a surprise. But as Grier would say, who the heck needs an oline right? Hill and Waddle will just run through everybody, seems to be what they are counting on.
Defense is still insane. This should have been a shut out. Refs gave the pats the only points they have.
Great game! One thing I'm really happy about: looks like we have really good coaching. Defense played great. Most important defensive stat is points allowed and defense gave up 0 net points today. They kept up their takeaway stats too (takeaways and passer rating allowed are the next two most important defensive stats by correlation to win%). Offense wasn't that good. WR's are great. OL is terrible, and Tua is average. Same Tua from last year. I think he's good enough for regular season and maybe to get us into the playoffs, but there's no hint he can "win" games for us except on rare occasion. That's not good enough for playoffs. Still only game 1 so we'll see if it gets better.
First win of the season. D still balling, Hill a great pick up but O still a work in progress mostly thanks to the o-line which is still concerning…
Awful playcalling from McDaniel down the stretch. Very lucky he caught a sleeping Belichick on the other sideline.
Don't think it was that bad. I'd have liked to see him run more, but we couldnt run all game. Didn't think he had much choice. Execution was the bigger problem with the plays called IMO.
Overall great team win. Still have some concerns about the OL. Too many hits on Tua and not running the ball well. But Bellicheat always pretty solid at the LoS
Well I go from a fairly comfortable Fins win to getting nervous about my bet. It's currently winning but 3 of the teams are winning by only one score.
Great to get the win. Great for McDaniel. Great for the team with the schedule ahead as well. Some quick takeaways: - McDaniels in game decisions we good today I thought. Nice debut for him. - Our WR corps are obviously way improved. - Our OL is obviously still below average. - Our running game is still non-existent due to the above. - Our defense is still a great unit. - Our defense needs to tackle better next week or we're in trouble. - Edmonds is nice, but Mostert needs more touches IMO. - Our QB is still a work in progress, not bad, not great. I expected and hoped for more today with the improved WR's, but the lack of OL and run game pretty much left us one dimensional all game which makes it tough to expect more, but he left some plays out there with poor/missed throws, got away with a couple bad decisions in the second half, but overall week 1 in a new system with new WR's all around him I'll gladly take it, but we have to hope the whole offense continues to grow and gel together, especially the OL if we want to have a good season.
Yep, it's a W to start the season, which I'm more than happy about but, as others have already said, the O line looks shocking. And I expected better from Tua but o-line woes, so maybe I'm being a bit harsh. Anyone else think that the CBS commentary was way biased towards NE? I thought I was watching it on the Pats network.
Highlight of the game to me was McDaniel electing to go for it on 4th and 7 just outside of FG range and it leading to the Tua to Waddle TD pass. Great call, great playcall, great throw, great catch, great result. Low light... lack of a running game, pool OL play, tons of missed tackles on D.
Grier can draft defenders. He can't draft OL. He needs to acknowledge that and get some help to improve.
Amen. Grier can't draft oline or QBs, or pass rushers, or running backs, or Tight Ends, other than that he does ok with the rest of the position groups, especially the defensive backs which seems to be his forte.
Eagles are going to let me down by 1.5 points. I knew I wasn't allowed a perfect football weekend but that still hurts.
