A tad unexpected, but not a bad move.

Traded a 6th to get him, got a 6th when trading him away.

Thank you for your time in Miami Adam Shaheen, but I believe this is a move that helps both parties.

Also gave the Texans a 7th in the swap.

Not a bad trade, not a big loss for Miami. Hopefully that means Hunter Long is stepping up. It also gives Shaheen a better chance to make a roster.

He was clearly the 4th TE, so this is a very logical move. Now we need to dump Carter too.

Well that's interesting...not sure I've ever seen a player actively playing that fails a physical.

Time to cut him. You can’t get a trade in a player who’s failed his physical and he’s not going to make the team, not with this depth of TEs.

    Cut sling load

With the Shaheen trade and the Butler cut earlier this week.

This saves the Dolphins roughly 6M against the cap. A little extra change to use if there are any interesting veterans (OL’s) that are late cuts .

Except Shaheen hasn't been traded due to his failed medical.

    Thanks. Missed that follow up.

I guess if he can pass in next couple weeks we will be able to cut him and still save most his money against the cap.

That's just bizarre- Shaheen thought he was 100%, the Fins thought he was 100%, and now he's going for surgery? Something there doesn't add up.

When you're dealing with knees there can be situations that don't currently limit physical activity but can be problematic down the road. Chondral defect of some kind maybe?

I'd say it depends on exactly what the physical entailed from the Texans. If it was some kind of MRI/CAT scan, that may have caught something in the early stages of being an issue and would explain why it wasn't noticed by Shaheen or caught by team doctors. If it was something visibly obvious that our team docs didn't catch, that would be a bit of a concern. But I have no real knowledge of what a professional NFL physical entails.

That's certainly possible. In addition, I also think it could be a case of the Fins knowing he might recover enough to play, but not wanting him any more. And since they can't trade him, they just put him on IR said are done with it.
