Need the Wanks and the Dead Sacks to lose and bad so the Mariners, if they win tomorrow vs the Angels can play a tiebreaker for the last playoff spot. So, Go Nationals and Go Blue Jays EH! I know none of you are following Mariners Baseball but the similarities with the Phins are stunning, Mariners currently own the longest streak without a playoff appearance in Pro sports, been 20 yrs. But they have a very young team, youngest in MLB playing a win or die game 162, sitting on 90 wins this season. And they did the same thing the Phins did, 5 yrs ago instead of 3 but Baseball takes longer to rebuild a team. They tore the house down to the studs, new mgmt, new coach, traded high dollar vets away for picks and young prospects, complete reset. Now their first couple drafts have worked their way up thru the minors, started a little rough at the beginning of the yr but fought and scrapped and are in it to the end. Really has been an amazing season and not matter what happens Sunday Go Mariners!
I don't follow them closely, but the Mariners hsve been my "pet" AL team for many years. They have one of my favorite uniform combinations in sports at the moment with both of their dark jerseys. Good luck to them!
11 game winning streak! A rising star in Julio Rodriguez, rookie All-Star. I'm telling you the Mariners and the Dolphins are on parallel tracks. It's fun to watch.
CHAMPIONSHIP!!! Exactly what they needed This teams about to shift gears. Obviously they can't figure the stro's out yet but they are closer. I mean took the Dolphins awhile to be able to beat the Cheatriots too. Now they've been exposed we own them. Going to be an exciting couple of months for sure
Was really hoping for a bullpen arm as well. But that rotation barring Kirby slowing down in August can win a playoff series imo.
Every report today: The Mets aren't going to give up any prospects worth crap in a trade at the deadline. Every commentator on deadline moves: Wilson Contrares absolutely needs to be on the NY Mets
Should get to see our new toy tomorrow vs the yankers. Hopefully he can have a good Mariner debut and get us turned back around to winning again
https://www.mlb.com/mariners/news/mariners-adopt-clubhouse-dog-tucker Mariners added another big league DAWG! to the hunt! Love this about this team and especially the management. “He just got activated today and will be a great addition to our team,” Mariners manager Scott Servais said.
That made me think about how excited I was when my Cubs traded for Servais himself in the mid 90s. We got him and OF Luis Gonzales (pre roids) and put them both in the starting lineup right away.
J Rod to return tonight. With Mitch back this offense when healthy is not all that far from the pitching staff in terms of being complete. Looking forward to some October baseball in Seattle.
Sweep!!! In 1st wild card position! These aint your Daddy's Mariners! Still see so so many parallels between M's rebuild and progress and Miami's. A Trend I hope continues for both my teams
Whoa this thread surprised me I remember when it was just Travis and I posting about the mariners lol
Another series win! With a sweep of he Guardians who are fighting for first in their division. 4 and 1/2 hr rain delay, 11 inning game! I truly hope the parallels I see between the M and the Phins continue. M's are the best team in baseball over the last 6 weeks. HERE WE GO!!!
And the M's with a walk off homer to take the series from the Braves. Mariners are winningest team in baseball right now. What a great day!
Would be nice if the #1 seed and a team from the West Coast got to play in prime time instead of the not #1 seed vs another team in the eastern time zone. Nah though, lets screw the fans of the other teams who are working during the day.
Theres still hope! Just need to win tomorrow. Hope they do, this area will go bazonkers for a day or two.
You realize there hasn't been a repeat champion in over 15 years right? But the teams that are willing to spend will at least find themselves in contention for and during the postseason so maybe that's what you're referring to...but at that point blame the teams that won't spend.
Not just repeat champions. The same teams being good over and over. The Yankees have won enough for the next 1000 years for example. The Braves have been good most of the past 30+ years.
So do you fault well run organizations and teams willing to spend or teams that are run poorly and teams that don’t spend when they do develop guys? I hate the braves but I’m not going to fault them because the marlins are running a Mickey Mouse organization or because the Mets and philli3s haven’t always don’t smart things…. if you aren’t interested in being competitive like some teams aren’t, they should be condensed or forced to sell the team…
If it only happens once every 20 yrs might as well make it last. Hell of a way to end an amazing season M's! So many big moments, still can't get past those cheating *** Basturos but they gotta be looking over their shoulder for us coming after them next year.
