    1. Ted Ginn - B - Thought it was the wrong pick at the beginning. But he stepped up as a reciever as the season went on. Combined with 4 TD returns (although 3 were called back) this year, I'm content with the pick.

    2. John Beck - C+ - Has shown glimpses of being a good quarterback, but nothing to say whether he is or is not the future. Jury still out.

    2. Samson Satele - A+ - Our best offensive lineman by far. Damn good find.

    3. Lorenzo Booker - B+/A- - For the second half of the season, Booker has been what Reggie Bush was supposed to be.

    4. Paul Soliai - C - Nothing special. Got some playing time, but nothing amazing.

    6. Reagan Mauia - B+ - Starting fullback all year. Hits like a truck. Should be around for awhile.

    7. Kelvin Smith - C - Made the roster, hasn't done anything.

    7. Brandon Fields - A+ - Starting punter. Almost a 44 yard average per punt. Great find in the 7th.

    7. Abraham Wright - B+ - Had a monster preseason. Got injured early on this year and was placed on IR. Would have been a nice backup if he stayed healthy. Good find in the 7th.

Overall - A - Cameron and Mueller put up a damn good draft class. Dolphins best draft class since the Jimmy Johnson days.

Ginn: C Wasn't as productive as other rookie WR's and was 47th in the NFL in avg. per return going into the Cincinnati game. Could have found better value at #9 overall, hopefully he plays better in the future with a solid QB.

Beck: C- Didn't look very good in playing time except against a decrepit Bengals D filled with backups and 3 rookies in the secondary. Fumbled the ball a lot more than I expected but was limited by Cam's unimaginative playcalling and very limited weapons on the outside and in the backfield, but there's just something that leaves me wondering if he's really the answer.

Satele: A- Easily the best draft pick. Contributed from day one, hit a wall in recent weeks, but he, Carey, and should Parcells new staff decide to re-sign Hadnot, will form our O-line for the next 8-10 years.

Booker: B Where was he the first half of the season? I blame Cameron for that. The kid runs a lot harder than I expected and has moves in a phone booth and then some. I give Booker an A, but the overall grade for him dips because Cam's decision not to play him.

Soliai: D- Three tackles and a string of inactives to close out the year; not what you want if you're looking to replace Keith Traylor. Has the physical attributes, but not the technique nor mental fortitude as of yet (I blame the loss of Dan Quinn and replacing him w/Diron Reynolds).

Mauia: B Beat out Schlesinger, but definitely has some rookie flaws. Love his toughness and seeing him get into Seau's grill was nice, but I don't know if he's a Parcells guy.

Mormino: Incomplete - Spent the season on IR and didn't really look strong in preseason, but seems to have potential to be a starter in the near future.

Smith: Incomplete - Spent season on practice squad.

Fields: D- This guy needs to go. Simple as that.

    A. Wright: Incomplete - Spent season on IR after tearing it up in shorts and t-shirts.

Overall: C- 4 of the first 5 picks look positive with the jury being out on Soliai, but we still should have had more value at the top of the draft. Throwing out the 3 incomplete grades, I'll take hitting on somewhat on 5 out of 7; Soliai and Fields being the two misses at the moment.

My thoughts on the first day...

I love the development we've seen in Ginn. Was he worth #9? Probably not, but I think I read somewhere on here that some team had him at 12. He may never be an elite, but I think he's the best we currently have.

Beck, I'm on the fence with this one. We've seen some dumb mistakes, but we've also seen the ability to shake them off and keep going, like todays game. Forgetting the last play and moving on is a big part of being a qb. Not ready to call him a starter yet, but I def think he will be a better back up then Miss Cleo

Satele. I LOVE THIS GUY. Yeah he's mademistakes too, but how many rookie centers start all 16 games. What was he third or fourth round? Great pick. He reminds me of the center in Necesairy Roughness. Manumana the Slender...

Booker should be a nice complement to Ronnie when he returns.

All in all, I think Cam had a decent draft. Yeah he had some questionable decisions, ie Ginn over Quinn., but unlike the drafts from 04 to the late 90's, I think a majority of these guys will stay on the team.

The irony in all of this "Randy and Cam firing" stuff is that they actually had a really good draft.

If the Tuna net can do better than that, I will be mighty impressed. That was a pretty good draft. Imagine rating Booker, Ginn, Satele and Beck working with with a solid line!

Yea, this, Ginn's ability to go deep with a solid OL couldn't have been a big difference to this team, especially if the QB was able to hit him a couple of times on those deep passes. I love the way the kid caught the ball with his hands, especially his first catch yesterday, coming back to the ball and moves after catch. Booker the same. This was the best draft I've seen us have in some years. I hope we keep Cam, because if we get a new coach and they change Offense, this may impact all these rookies negatively. I really enjoyed the rookies this year despite the bad season.

    2. John Beck - d- we should have drafted Sidney rice

    2. Samson Satele - A – future probowler

    3. Lorenzo Booker - A- my favorite pick, he has speed, quickness and agility to be great.

    4. Paul Soliai - f – wasted draft pick.

    6. Reagan Mauia - a – one of my favorite player on the roster, his nasty.

    7. Kelvin Smith - d – nothing special..

    7. Brandon Fields - b – incredible kicking power.

    7. Abraham Wright – n/a – I didn’t watch much of him to give him a grade.

Ginn (B-) Grade would be higher if it weren't for the generally atrocious play of our special teams...or if we had a quarterback who Cam would let throw long.

Beck (D) There are two ways to annihilate the confidence of a young quarterback. One involves Bill Belichick designing a defense. The other is to have Cam Cameron try to develop him.

Satele (A-) Hopefully he fits the new regime's profile for a center. He will start in this league for the next 10 years and I would much rather it be for us.

Booker (C) Why wasn't he playing earlier in the year?

Soliai (D) Obviously a project. Hopefully he'll become the next Rod Wright instead of the next Kevin Vickerson.

Mauia (B) Good blocking fullback. Not sure he can give us more than that, but we may not need more.

    Smith (I) Who is this?

Fields (C+) Average punter. Still too inconsistent.

Wright (I) Not enough body of work to grade.

OVERALL: C+. The continued development of Ginn, Beck, and Booker will determine the long-term grade of this group.

    1. Ted Ginn - B - Probably C production but showed A potential so he gets a B. Pair him with a playmaker and we will have a very dangerous combo

    2. John Beck - D - Didnt see yesterday's game but everyone feels he played well so I'll give him a D. Wouldve been an F without yesterday's game

    2. Samson Satele - A - Dont know what his upside is but how can you not say he's our rookie of the year. I'll trade the Patriots all the slot receivers they want if we can keep picking like this

    3. Lorenzo Booker - A - This is where Reggie Bush should have been drafted. Congrats New Orleans. Shows fantastic potential to be top 5 change of pace back

    4. Paul Soliai - C - On performance alone, should be an F. But it seems his problem is technique so one offseason should help that. Physically a beast and if its just technique and he can fix it, he could be a huge upgrade next year. I believe he has the potential to be an A grade next year which explains the generous grade I gave him

    6. Reagan Mauia - B - Attitude he brings probably led me to give him higher grade than he deserved but I do feel that every team needs these types of in your face players. parcells should love him

    7. Kelvin Smith - D- Thought he would be better but he's slower than I thought. Probably gone next year but he has good attitude and likes to hit. Maybe he's kept on

    7. Brandon Fields - C - Lots of mistakes but the potential is there. Would be an F if you factor in the fact that we dumped Donnie Jones to get him

    7. Abraham Wright - C - Looked good in preseason. Want to see him more before I have a real grade to give

Overall - A - Great draft. Produced 4 solid starters and has the potentail if any of the others produce. Potential for a few superstars here if everything breaks right

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. Ted Ginn - B - Showed flashes as being a productive number one WR. Sure he didn't put up numbers like some, but compare those offenses to ours. Dwayne Bowe? He's been the number one since day one. Calvin Johnson? He's been forced into the number one position, which is why Roy Williams is upset. Give Ginn a good offense and he'll do well. Did well on KR/PR too, proved he can make a big play.

    2. John Beck - C - Has shown flashes and shows that he's very dedicated to bringing this team to the promised land. Too early to slap a "for sure" grade on Beck, but from what I've seen, he can play... He'll be our starter next year for sure.

    2. Samson Satele - B+ - Granted, this was a good pick, probably our best pick... BUT... it's also the most overrated rookie on this team. He did a great job manning the center spot, but our offensive line wasn't that good. I think he'll be our starting center for years, but I'm not going to put an A+ on him yet...

    3. Lorenzo Booker - B- - Poor man's Reggie Bush. People will say "Why did Cameron not play Booker?", but maybe if Booker showed up during the preseason, then he would play. He missed pretty much all of preseason due to family issues (his girlfriend was having a baby, took longer than expected I believe). Showed a lot of potential and I think he can be something special if used correctly.

    4. Paul Soliai - C- - Yet to be determined really, he was drafted as a raw player with a lot of upside. Could have been a first round pick supposedly. Normally round one DTs take a year or two to develop, I don't expect Soliai to show much promise until next year or even the year after.

    6. Reagan Mauia - B - A good starting fullback that can lay people out. He's not much of a rusher/receiver, better block than anything. I don't see why people want to give Mauia the ball because he's big, he's proven time and time that he can't rusht he ball. He's been given the ball 4 times, rushed for a 1.3 average and fumbled once. Deserving of holding the rock? Not really.

    7. Kelvin Smith - D - Made the roster, so that's good. You can't expect much out of these late round picks, especially in their first year. I think he can be a good depth player, but he didn't see the field all that much so we can't judge him too highly.

    7. Brandon Fields - C+ - Made a good amount of rookie mistakes, but also showed a lot of flashes. I'm one that isn't quite so upset about the Donnie Jones trade anyways either. He has a great leg and I think he'll be our starting punter for at least one-two more years.

    7. Abraham Wright - D+ - Was praised all the time during the preseason, gave us a lot of hope for our defense when we were playing great without our top starters too. Didn't hit the field too much, I believe because of injury. Tough to give him a good grade because of that.

Overall - C+ - Good draft, but a bit overhyped by most people. I think Ginn, Beck, Satele, and Booker will all play major roles in our offense next year. Mauia will still be around for sure, as well Fields. Soliai, Smith, and Wright will have to prove their worth, I could see one or two of them being cut.

    1. Ted Ginn - C+ - I give Ginn a C+. There was a big inconsistency at the QB position going through all three of them on our depth chart. This past game he did very well with 7 cathes. Very capable of making plays when he has the ball. If not for the two holding calls on his returns, he was a possible pro bowler. This off-season is key for him. I think he can be our number 1.
    2. John Beck -D- He had three starts in a row and did not generate an offensive touchdown. He did not show me anything special in those games. He seems to fumble alot but does not make the mental mistakes by throwing Ints. He played well yesterday despite the fumble. I hope he is the starter going into next year because he will be 27!

    2. Samson Satele - A- Samson helped improve one of the worst lines in the NFL last year. Enough said, he will be a stud for a decade.

    3. Lorenzo Booker - B - This was most definately the biggest steal of the draft for this team. He has shown amazing playmaking skills and the emergence of Booker is great so Ronnie Brown is not rushing his injury. He is very capable of running the ball alot next year and if Ronnie is not ready for game one, i hope they start Lo Book. He has definately been my favorite to watch recently. Booker and Brown in 08!.

    4. Paul Soliai - D- -Usually fourth round picks do a little bit of contributing but Paul was no where to be found. This is a position in need of young talent but he has not been a factor. Hopefully he suprises next year.

    6. Reagan Mauia - B+ - Reagan Mauia was another great pick especially for the sixth round. He was a great full back and hopefully next year he can turn the corner and become a full back that can come out of the back field and catch a few passes.

    7. Kelvin Smith - C - cannot say much about Kelvin but he made the roster so i am just going to keep him at the neutral C.

    7. Brandon Fields - C+ - For a rookie punter he did well. Definately not Donnie Jones but he did well. He had a lot of good punts and then there were the bad ones. Next year i see much improvement.

    7. Abraham Wright- IR- Preseason monster but he was on the IR. Not much to say yet.

Overall- B - I gave Randy and Cam a B. Its a shame that Randy had to go because of a good draft. Miami is in need of good drafts of young talent like this for many years to come. I hope the talent keeps on coming.

eh, i think you give them the benefit of the doubt a little here. But fairly decent overall. Here's my go at it:

    Ginn: B+
    Beck:C
    Satele:A-
    Booker:B+
    Soliai: D+
    Mauia:B
    Smith:C-
    Fields:A-
    Wright:C+

    Overall: B-

    Not a bad draft.

Nice..., I agree it wasn't the finest draft but after the previouis drafts it looked stronger than it actually should have been... Count our first two drafts picks as questionable...

    1. Ted Ginn - C+ - A reach at 9 really hasn't proven to be an intimadating return man, has done a decent job at the receiver position but has a long way to go, has shown good chemistry with Beck.

    2. John Beck - C+ - Still to be determined but shows good accuracy, has been very jittery in the pocket and has been a turnover machine. We'll waith and see.

    2. Samson Satele - A+ - Our best pick in this years draft, has been flawless in his play and should anchor the Phins line for years to come.

    3. Lorenzo Booker - A - He has come in and done everything asked and more, he is establishing himself as a fantastic 3rd down back. Are second best pick.

    4. Paul Soliai - C+ - Hasn't been given alot of experience, still up in the air weather he can be a NT and the next level.

    6. Reagan Mauia - C+ - Could've been signed as an UDFA, has come in and performed well but still a little suspect in run blocking.

    7. Kelvin Smith - D - Not even sure if he's still with the team, looked alrite in preseason but has shown no signs of playing at the next level.

    7. Brandon Fields - B- - Starting punter who has shown signs that he can play in the NFL, low liners risk big runbacks and not sure if he has replaced Donnie Jones exeptionally well.

    7. Abraham Wright - B+ - He had a strong preseason but got injured, should be a strong prospect but can't really say what kind of a pass rusher he'll be.

    1. Ted Ginn-Strategically a luxury we couldn't afford, on the field he has two different grades:

Wr: C he gets open deep, our Qb's cannot get him the ball.
Kr: B+ I believe he led the NFL in total KR yardage.

    2. John Beck: D: Rookie Qb, poor team, 2 Td's in 4 games

    2. Samson Satele: A: Started all 16 games, only left one game for a few plays all season, Cornerstone of our new Oline, glad to have him, even happier we didn't move up to draft Ryan Kalil...

    3. Booker: C: Showed flashes, his inability to handle kick returns really froze LBook out of playing time.

    4. Soliai: F overmatched, underprepared, a case of a theoretical "high pick" who slid back for a reason.

    5. Mauia: C-: Fb's must catch the Football and block consistently, Reagen can improve easily, but this year he was a below average Fullback, should improve next year and be a blast to watch.

    6. Brandon Fields: D- 4 fair catches all year long, that is unacceptable, improve or leave, or might be replaced.

    7. Abe Wright: I no playing time, no grade in the NFL for a 7th round pick "I" really means F-

    8. K. Smith: D- on a team screaming for someone, anyone, to play well on special teams. Kelvin Smith never did...

For the Dolphins, this was a Great draft, with several players starting Day 1, for the rest of the league, this would be a "better then average" draft, if Abe Wright, Mauia and Booker pan out this Grade will move from a"C+" to a A especially if Ginn improves and Samson "slim one" Satele makes the Pro Bowl....

Good job Randy, fair thee well where ever you fair...

    1. Ted Ginn Jr.: B While he has shown flashes at times, he hasn't demonstrated that he was worth the #9 pick overall. I'm hoping to see him improve next year.

    2. John Beck: C- Beck has played as if he is flustered throughout most of the season. Savior? Bust? Right now, somewhere in the middle. Case in point, the immediate turnover in yesterday's game, followed up by a nice TD drive.

    2. Samson Satele: A- Should anchor our line for years to come, and if he continues to improve should be a Pro Bowler in a few years. Easily our strongest first-day pick.

    3. Lorenzo Booker: B+ Really came on strong at the end of the year, when injuries really began to take their toll on the RB spot. A game changer, the problem is figuring out how to get him touches.

    4. Paul Soliai: D I didn't see him play much, if at all. Disappointing considering his hype. Call this a redshirt year.

    6. Reagan Mauia: C+ The Juggernaut was a training camp surprise, winning a starting position. Seems to have the right attitude for the job, but needs to become more consistent in both the running and passing games.

    7. Kelvin Smith: D- Again, this is someone I didn't see play much. He'll have to show something in camp to be brought back again.

    7. Brandon Fields: C- Meh, he's a punter. I guess he did okay at punting. Given the state of our anemic offense, I would have liked to have someone that could pin folks deep, something Fields never really did. Adequate at best.

    7. Abraham Wright: INC I thought he showed some potential in training camp, but we will have to see how he recovers from knee surgery.

Overall, I would call the Satele and Booker picks hits, as I think they have the potential to be special players, with the Ginn and Mauia picks as hits as well because I think they will develop into solid players. Let's not kid ourselves though, this draft will be judged on the success or failure of John Beck - and, in my opinion, the jury is still out on that one.

    1. Ted Ginn : B- . A decent first year for a WR, some nice returns. Our special team blocking is aweful so difficult to tell exactly how much he can improve on his own but he needs to find his seam quicker and hit it harder next year.
    2. John Beck : C- . How do you rate this pick? No weapons, next to no defense. He made rookie mistakes and then some, especially fumbling the ball. He finished the Bengals game well which should give him confidence.
    2. Samson Satele : A . Great pickup.
    3. Lorenzo Booker : B/D . B for last half of season, D for first part. Where was he? Was it all Cams fault? The guy is exciting and gives hope for next season.
    4. Paul Soliai : D . Nothing like what I expected
    6. Reagan Mauia : C+ . Solid if unspectacular.
    7. Kelvin Smith : na
    7. Brandon Fields : D . We may have found a punter in the 7th round, but not a very good one. The Bengals game was probably his best but too often the punts had no hang time at all.
    7. Abraham Wright : na

    Overall B-

Top 4 picks plus Mauia had serious playing time this year and contributed. There is unfulfilled potential there and I'm optimistic about this draft class. A nice RM leaving present.

Fields over Jones will haunt us for a few years. I think Fields sucks. Samson was an A for sure. Ginn a B. Booker a B. Mauia a B+. Rest incomplete I would say. Fields F. Sorry.
