Personally, I think it's a bad idea since it opens the door for injury. I can see why you'd want to check some metrics- has your players grown stronger or faster than last season? But stuff like the long jump, it's just silly. That's not a motion football players do often and it's a good way to pull a groin muscle or something random. Maybe it's fun for media and fans, but I don't see the point in it.
Maybe I'm viewing this incorrectly but to my understanding it's the media who are taking part, not the players.
