The wide receiver I would really like to target is Cedric Wilson Jr !! The guy was always open last year when you watched Cowboy games. He looked very fluid and athletic. Broke some big plays and ran hard after the catch. Dallas used him on some trick plays too. He played inside and outside. Fits the mold of reciever McDaniel had with the 49ers. His advanced stats were off the charts. Caught 74% of his targets (Top 10 in league) Over 6 YAC per reception. Over 13 YArds per catch 6 TDs on only 60 targets. Had the same amount of targets as Gallup and out produced him by every metric. Only 26 years old. I much prefer him over bigger name free agents like Gallup and JJ Smith-Schuster. Even though those guys will likely get paid a lot more. You could argue he only has one year of relevance in the NFL. But his college production was video game type numbers. .
Was he always open because of the attention given to Lamb, Cooper, Gallup and Shultz, though? Legit question as I didn’t watch Dallas more than a couple of times last year. If we sign him as a #2, do you think he’d fall victim to Peerless Price syndrome?
I wonder if theyre willing to give up on some of those linemen.. id take martin here . A guy like him brings instant leadership to our line.
Last year, I was not a big JuJu Smith-Schuster fan. I thought he was over-rated and over priced. That being said, I think that we should all sorta rethink JuJu as an option. I really do think that he fits our system. Last year, he thought he was going to break the bank, and the offers never really developed. He wound up signing a 1 yr/$8 mil deal, and wound up getting hurt. I think that it is pretty evident that his value has not increased. Going back to the Steelers is not nearly as appealing either. Ben is gone. It is clear that the team has transitioned toward the run game. Johnson is clearly the number one guy, and he would likely split time with Claypool as the number two guy. Pat Friermuth has emerged as another legitimate mouth to feed. Big Ben is gone, and there is a lot of uncertainty at the position. Finally, last year, the market did not reflect reality. Teams needing a solid WR wound up paying good WRs like great WRs. This year, between WR free agents and WRs that are available via trade, I think that the market will become far more realistic. I think that he is a guy that we should check in on.
I really hope that we keep Christian. I love him as a player, and he gives the impression that he really enjoys playing the game.
He really looked the part getting to his spot and also with the ball in his hands. I think he has the talent. Defences probably weren’t too worried about him considering all of Dallas’ weapons. But you could say his own team didn’t prioritize him either.
I think everyone is over looking Gallup. Dude was a monster getting opened. Even when Amari Cooper or Lamb were injured.
I would guess that the Packers will get their answer once they decide what to do about Davante Adams.
With that being said, is it possible we have those linemen now and they were being used in the wrong scheme for their abilities?
What variables? Isn't it just one varible... the amount of cash you are offering versus your competition?
Something I don't get to say very often (if ever really), but I agree with you! They had all that time to come up with a new name and that was the best they could do? SMH...
As I am a huge proponent of coaching, yes it is indeed possible. I’ve watched football for nearly 50 years and I’ve seen it too many times over the years. A team brings in a guru coach at a particular position and suddenly that unit excels beyond expectation. What most lose in their ambitions for a better offense is the utter necessity for a solid offensive line. It’s the bread and butter of any offense. If the line can’t block, running back are stopped for zero gain…unless your name is Barry Sanders. If the line can’t block the quarterback is going to be forced to throw early and often short, run for their lives and/or get sacked. If we can once and for all finally fix the offensive line issue, the offense is going to be more productive, put up more yardage and should be able to score more points. Even if the skill personnel we have aren’t the long term solution, any successors are going to benefit from that offensive line and be able to take the Dolphins offense to the next level. I just hope the new coaching staff has placed the offensive line as high of a priority as I’ve been screaming for for nearly 20 years now.
First and foremost: Ogbah's desire to remain in Miami. It may take more or less depending on whether he wants a change of scenery. Team can't control that, but it can work according to it.
Out of interest what would the financial damage be if they decided to franchise tag Gesicki for the year if they couldn't figure out the terms for a longer term contract this off-season?
It's not bad at the TE level, like 10-11 million, versus numbers like 14 for Dallas Goedert. Imo it makes it much less of a priority to negotiate and sign h vs Ogbah because we have the tag in our back pocket.
ESPN reporting that Amari Cooper is likely to be a cap casualty. I'd be all aboard making a serious run at pairing him with Waddle. Would also remove the need to use a high draft pick on the position.
Alot of rumors in New York linking Saquon Barkley to Miami. I'd give a conditional 4th rounder for him.
Goes to a 2023 3rd rounder if he gets 1200+ yds, to a second if he gets 1500+ yds and a first if he gets 2000+ yds. Of course, only Miami could have a back go for 2000+ yds, a great defense, and STILL not make the playoffs.
I’ve heard Mostert was McDaniel’s guy and if he tries to bring a UFA SF running back over with him it will be Mostert. Barkley would be a swing for the fence and a ticket seller. Not sure it would be a high percentage move
I’m not upset with a tag. Resign Ogbah, extend Howard/Wilkins, go sign Armstead and maybe Tomlinson. Draft another WR at 29 and then find a RB in the 2nd.
