Police: Search for Young because of suicide talk - NFL - Yahoo! Sports this is crazy, i doubt the therapist is lying no matter what vince says
I have a real problem with this. I am normally not a person that cares when atheletes, celebrities, etc. complain about the media but this is one situation when they need to back off and do it now. Young is stressed because of all the stress he is under from the organization, fans, and the media; so by the media reporting what his therapist said will only embarrass him more. The media is putting more of a strain on a ticking bomb and they seriously need to back off before they do something they can't take back. This is a serious situation they are dabbling in and not something to play around with. Secondly, shouldn't this information be confidential due to the patient-doctor confidentiality agreement?
You can argue that he is a horrible QB all you want, but he really does seem like a good guy. He had a rough childhood and overcame a lot to get where he is instead of being on the streets causing trouble, so I hope he can overcome this too.
Yeesh, if the NFL doesn't work out take your millions and go do something else. I agree that people need to backoff a bit but dang how can he be this upset about fans booing or his career not going that great? Suicide? Whew hope for the best for him here.
He said all this started when he threw his second interception against the Jaguars and fans booed him. This is sad. I hope that everything ends up alright. I was reading an article on this today in class and I saw that Young said everything was fine, he's a "winner not a quitter" and there should be no worries. Now this comes out. I really hope everything ends up alright. Also, the Titans need to do themselves a favor and keep this private. Why? Because if Young does choose to play football again, this will be constantly brought up by the media and pressure will be put on him to overcome his stress and win ballgames.
for all we know he could be chemically depressed. I think the media should lay off him a bit, there's no telling what is his state of mind is right now and anything can set him off. jerk move by the therapist to say this publicly too.
I don't think that it's just him not being used to it. It's probably something potentially serious. Lots of QB's have been boo'd in the pros for the first time, how many were of a suicide watch?
Thats what I'm saying he doesn't know how to handle this so its making him depress. He needs to ignore the fans and just go play football.
Not just at Texas, his whole football-life. He's always been praised. Now, when he feels the pressure, he doesn't know how to react to it. He didn't/doesn't have a father figure so he depended on his mom often. Moms often praise their children every way they can lol, especially when someone or something is missing in their life. It may sound foolish but it may just be true.
I think there is where he needs a Veteran player to help him through this, maybe his whole team help him through this.
They should have kept Mcnair on for another season or two. I mean why wouldnt you keep the less athletic veteran version of your top draft pick to teach him the game? He walked into the perfect situation and the Titans ruined it for him in a lot of aspects. Still though, I hope he finds the help he needs.
wow this is pretty upsetting. You don't like seeing people go through this. I'm rooting for ya Vince. Go out, give 110% and prove people wrong.
well if he's considering suicide, football isnt the problem. football may be adding to his darker thoughts but the cause lies far deeper. He might be a manic depressive. Looks like they have their own David Woodley situation on hand. Pray to God it works out better
I think Young is clinically depressed and if he isn't then yes he should toughen up. However if he is depressed then what seems like trivial or small things to non-depressed people are huge to him. Depression if he has it is serious and if someone is considering suicide then I do believe he is depressed. Its just one of those things that you have to know something about (in this case depression) to understand it.
his teammates should help him through this but he turned alot off them off, when he is on the sidelines not supporting them. i heard alot of the players turned on vy....anyone remember this quote from vince about mcnabb?
Good find. I think that quote may have answered Vince's question if he really feels that way. Btw, Yvenson Bernard got picked up by the Seahawks after they cut Justin Forsett. Hopefully Bernard gets his chance.
Awfully easy to sit behind a computer and say that, bro. C'mon, how can anybody possibly know how he feels? When somebody says something bad about you, regardless of where and who it is coming from, it isn't a pleasure to stomach. Sure, NFL players should accept this as a reality of the game, but this doesn't accept burden after the fact. And he has had to take more crap than most people will ever imagine. For Vince Young, he has spent the last five years getting lambasted by people. If Vince Young killed himself today, there would be thousands of cliche-wielding naysayers coming out to "send our thoughts and prayers to his family". Everything is the same, they go around painting these pictures with a complete disregard for the individuals they throw away in an attempt to better their own position, to fulfill their own ideals. And when the reality becomes apparent, the curtain begins to draw and everybody joins the monastery. This situation is just so vulgar to me. That a game seems to take precedent over human life. What is happening to Vince now just punctuates everything he has gone through in the past few years. That after all that, it's just a farce, it's just a ****ing joke to everybody. You love your martyrs, you love your victims. If it takes failure and pain for you to all have your rags-to-riches great-American-comeback story, then congratulations.
