No doubt. I even said on the very first page of the threa I was worried about the Saints defense. They are a damned good defense and we were able to slowly but surely move the ball against them.

Defensively? 8 flipping sacks and 2 interceptions, including a pick 6. Magnificent!!!!

Do you you understand how a RPO works? The Oline is run blocking. The ball has to come out immediately, or it's a penalty. The line cannot get more than 3 yards deep before the pass. There aren't going to be many deep shots with an RPO heavy offense. Even less with a line that pass blocks like the Dolphins have this year. As soon as he pulls it he is setting and throwing. Tua was a spectacular deep ball thrower early at Bama. Then they switched to an RPO heavy offense, from 4 verts, and he was the most efficient in NCAA history.

Very well said and I'm glad you see or at least kind of see what I'm saying. Tua didn't do anything to lose the game tonight but I want my top 5 QB pick to be a stud and carry the team. I know this is a stretch and not fair to Tua but I want my top 5 QB to Marino-like.

Yes, I know what an RPO is. I watch college football religiously. To me, he's checking down too much. I think the deep throws are there and he just doesnt see them

Whether or not we would be better with Herbert as our quarterback is irrelevant. Herbert plays for the Chargers. Tua Tagovailoa plays for the Miami Dolphins. What Herbert does or doesn’t do doesn’t matter.

In reality, Herbert plays on an objectively better team..especially their offense. Also, in reality, the Chargers are 8-7 with Herbert who you think would somehow make the Dolphins better than an 8-7 team (even though Brissett was the QB for 4 of those 7 losses (I believe)

Also, Herbert and Tua's overall stats are nearly identical.

    Herbert: 98 passer rating, 67% comp, 5.7 TD%, 2.4 INT%, Y/A 7.6
    Tua: 95 passer rating, 70% comp, 4.6 TD%, 2.6 INT%, Y/A 7.1

So, I'm not really understanding the Herbert is better diatribe? I mean, I guess he may one day be better, but currently he's objectively not better. Sure, he does some things better than Tua, but he also does some things better than Brady. And Tua does some things better than Herbert. But right now, they are both QB's for 8-7 teams with very similar individual stats. The main difference? The Chargers have a much better oline and run game.

Nice win! Just had a chance to watch the game — was on a damn flight during it.

Really glad to see our defense play like that. That's a top level defense. But unless this defense can pull a Ravens 2000 our offense is not good enough to go far in the playoffs. Tua, the OL and co. need to start helping this team win rather than "not lose" the game. "Not lose" won't work most of the time in the playoffs.

Still we're 8-7 and there's no reason why we can't win the next 2. Tennessee is favored by -3.5 right now it seems.

btw.. even if we win only one more and miss the playoffs, this is still a good year. It would be the first time since 2003 that the Dolphins would have back-to-back winning seasons. That's how pathetic we've been lately lol.

Ok well given the circumstances especially. I was dead wrong, Jaylen Waddle was worth the stiff price of 2 high firsts after all, as right now he for the most part IS our offense. Let us pray for the good Lord to keep him free of injury.

Yeah but he shouldn't have. Stick with the RPO, not throwing up a prayer (as we saw what happened with that) He can work on his long game in the offseason. Matter of fact he should probably focus his entire offseason on it as it is what IS going to seperate him from an avg one-scheme QB. Don't let the Tua fanboys get you down bro. Just cause we're outnumbered don't mean we're wrong. I was done with Tannehole by his 4th season, these people will suckle at the teet hoping their shortcomings magically peel away. But that's just not a rational way to think about football. I get it Tua fans, the OL aint great, they have been improving though id say, esp against a strong Saints D. Anyway, you're not always gonna have that crutch to stand on.. Again that's what all the Tannehole supporters hung on (for too GD long) I bet a lot of those same people are in the TUA is the frranchise club.. just sayin.. I'm not sure their opinions line up with what we're ALL looking at as Fin Fans during the games.

If a 1000 people are running towards a cliff doesn't mean you should join them. Stay firm with your opinions. I'd rather hear what fellow realists have to say a lot of the time.

So weird to hear people proudly trumpet they were done with tannehill, who became much better once he got Tennessee’s supporting cast and coaching?

Steve Young even talked about in the pregame. How do you judge a QB with a line that bad?

A great win for the Phins! Blah blah blah so many people were out for New Orleans. This is the NFL and with the covid you have to be prepared to play everyone. We have a 2 game audition for the playoffs. Let's go Dolphins!!!!!!

I hear you; and it's a concern for me too that he's not making some bigtime throws downfield. I think it's important though to keep in perspective how bad our OL is, and the fact that outside of Waddle we didn't have a WR on the field last night that's even cracking the starting line up for most NFL teams; and yes that includes Devante Parker. It's a pretty sad state of affairs on offense to try and play and evaluate a young QB. So all we can do is watch what he does show.

That nice 10 yard out to Waddle last night was perfect. The deep ball to Hollins was perfect IMO. Maybe a touch underthrown as it looked like Hollins slowed up a bit to adjust to it, but no big deal. What I loved though was his ball placement again last night for the most part; hitting guys in stride routinely to allow for YAC. I loved his response after throwing the INT again; thats two weeks in a row with a bad INT in a crucial situation/close game followed by an outstanding performance on the following drive for a TD. To me; that's an encouraging sign for a young QB with little talent around him.

What I don't like is the arm that appears fairly weak at times, especially deep. His decision making downfield is still suspect to me as evidenced on the INT last night. His delivery/throwing mechanics seem very slow at times too; especially on deeper throws. Those are thigns that don't sit well with me for a long term franchise QB.

That being said though; while he's not putting up 300 yards and 3 TD's a game he's helped lead this team to 7 straight wins with virtually no talent around him on offense. That says something to me. What it means is yet to be determined though and I feel its too hard to evaluate him as fans based on what we see on tv on sundays.

This offense wont get better without a big free agent signing at receiver and some offensive line help.. bring Godwin to Miami… watch how that will open the field for Waddle and Tua.. we need a guy that moves the chains and Godwin does that.
