Blown up? Am I not allowed to have a different opinion on tua than I had earlier? I thought he was going to be absolutely horrible. He's shown that he's not but I still don't think he's the answer.

Me neither, I've been blasted for that a few times now. He may be the short-term answer. But he literally had time to heave the ball with everything he had last night for an easy 6, but because he cant push it 30 yards down field in in the air, the WR slows up, broken up pass.

He's good in his RPO scheme we put around him, that's why his accuracy is constantly touted cause it's all his fan boys have to say that he's like "The Franchise." When logic tells you high % short throws most of every game = high accuracy. He's just lucky he hasn't had to survive without Waddle (who really is the offense)

The emergence of Duke Johnson Sunday (please keep that up Hurricane) I seriously don't think we win that game.

Exactly....tua is deadly within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. Like I've said a few times, these next three games will tell us a lot about him.

You got blown up because you said he sucked, backtracked and said you said he didn't suck, then were shown were you said he sucked multiple times and then threw out "well not in the string". I like Tua but I don't have huge feelings about it like some people do. Credibility wise it's not helping you. That's all I'm saying. Blown up is maybe a little strong, but that was some funny chit.

Look it's all good that you think what you want about Tua. When he does bad stuff, he does bad stuff. Many people will only show up after a pick or a missed throw and say "see I told you he was trash" or "Shoulda taken Herbert". These are tiered, old takes with just nothing to add. You may or may not do that, but you get lumped in with those that do it. We are all ready to have discussions, but those kids of takes just aren't moving the needle in ANY direction. Just my opinion.

    Merry Christmas my Fin Brothers

If only we had a QB who can hit his wr in stride 40 yards down field between two defenders like this guy:

So, in his second year he's gone from absolutely horrible, to you saying he's good but won't ever be great. The absurd thing isn't that you changed your opinion, it's that even after being that wrong with your opinion, you don't allow that you could still be wrong. Even after you admit that you were so wrong before. It's weird.

Exactly, if you're wrong nobody will care about your opinion. Win-win for you.

If your opinion is right, you can say you're smarter than everyone and that you knew it.

    Cop out.

Tua is going to have to really step it up for the rest of the way. He had a bad game. It happens, but it was the Jets and there were two other passes that were very near picks . Having Waddle back should help. However, teams and especially Bellichick are really going to scheme to stop the RPO. He is going to have to find other ways to confuse and attack the D.
Can our Samoan Sniper rise to the occasion? We shall see. I hope he can.

Herbert with 2 probowl lineman and a wr and alternate rb imagine having all that talent on offense. Id take just a single probowl lineman lol.

Good for that dude! Tua has an objectively horrible line this year and he's leading the league in completion percentage. His stats in the 9 games he's played project out to:
    26 tds
    15 ints
    94.3

Clearly, those don't match jUsTiN hErBeRt's greatness, but they make fawning over Herbert seem a little agenda-driven. Like having a pretty wife who works, cooks nice dinners and keeps a clean home but complaining that your buddy from work has a woman who went to culinary school. This song comes to mind:

I was responding to a post specifically about Justin Herbert, not what the Chargers record was last year, so try again. The post I responded to was pretty much comparing Herbert to Tua. All I did was show that Hebert has superior numbers to Tua. Hey, maybe tua will have numbers like that one day

People always bring up his completion percentage. He rarely throws the ball downfield. I would hope he would complete the majority of the short passes he throws

I've heard this take. But it never takes into consideration how many teams have attrocious QB play yet their coaches have never figured out they need to let their guys throw short passes to improve productivity. It makes sense, right?

Except for the fact that they have. Every team with a scrub QB tries to keep passes short and yet, scrub QBs still suck. Cleveland tried to do it on Monday night and Washington tried it on Tuesday. But neither guy completed 70% of his passes. So find another argument because "anybody can complete short passes" falls completely short of truth. Somehow Tua and Josh Allen both have the same YPA. Do BuffaLOL fans have a complaint that Allen **checks notes** can't complete short passes, which would account for that seemingly counterintuitive fact?

"Tua Only Completes Short Passes" is a fallacious trope at this point.

Ya know, I'm trying to be nice and not call you every name in the book, cause I'll get banned but you're making it very hard. I'm not a Chargers fan. I was a dolphin season ticket holder for a number of years. I've been to more games than you've probably seen on TV. So that fact that you are questioning my loyalty to the dolphins is funny. I have my opinion on your lil hero tua. You have yours. Time will tell who was correct

You're funny. I actually said earlier in this thread that Tua's ceiling isn't as high as Marino's floor. But keep the Tua derangement turned up to 10. It makes for an interesting character study.

Yes, I know what said earlier. I was being facetious. Why is it deranged to think that he's just a mediocre QB and always will be? That's not beyond the realm of possibility?

It's deranged to suggest anybody on this thread hinted that he's comparable to Dan Marino. I actually supported your right to feel any way you want and to post your opinion. Still support it. If others question what your understanding of what "mediocre" means (and offer a crap ton of stats to dispute it), it's fair. It is, after all a message board. It'd be kind of boring if we all conversed with a hive mind.

Unless, it was MY hive mind. That might be pretty cool.
