I didn't have fear of COVID before getting vaccinated and only got vaccinated when required (I work at a medical school and it's a requirement). What people don't understand is how COVID is affecting people who don't have COVID, and I don't just mean all these extra restrictions. Doctors constantly complain about the inability to properly treat or even see patients who have issues other than COVID because COVID patients (almost all unvaccinated) are taking up resources that would normally go towards other patients.

So those "decisions" have consequences for everyone, not just for the people refusing vaccines.

Why is that? Letting all players on the roster even the practice squad dress for games. A Liability. Please explain.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were saying, I thought you meant letting asymptomatic players play despite positive tests, which would lead to some players getting sick and suing the NFL.

What is wrong with having fear of something that can kill you?

I know this is not the wrong place, but fear is a very valid emotion that is there to keep us alive.

People without fear cannot function in society.

Okay, I need some real help here. Waddle has been the anchor on my fantasy team.

Anyone have a guess on which WR could fill his shoes in terms of catches?

Hopefully you‘re right good thing is it seems to be less lethal but more contagious, hope this trend continues and it does become a running nose some day. I think it’s here to stay, but I like your outlook better, especially when I look at what’s happening in Australia with the camps and everything…

We still do not know that yet. That is the hope.

With Australia, it is amazing what people believe.

This is devastating- now Tua has to throw to himself AND play RB! Hopefully they don't make him play safety as well.

The timing of this outbreak suggests the Thanksgiving gatherings may be the culprit.

I was just thinking about the year Ohtani had in baseball as one of the best HR hitters and pitchers, simultaneously. That's not too dissimilar from an NFL player being one of the best QB's and one of the best safeties (or LBs) at the same time. Kind of amazing.

In two weeks every team will have 20+ covid positives and somehow the Patriots will have zero.

That's kind of crazy- people do know that many of these tests have a pretty large hit/miss rate, right? If you can test immediately and get back to work with one negative, just take 4 or 5 tests. It really won't matter if you have the Rona or not, LOL.

Looks like players still need two positive tests, however, they can be done one right after the other.

Its about the money. It's always about the money with the NFL. That's why nothing can be believed when it comes to the virus and the guidance that comes out of the NFL or our government. They have a vested interest in keeping the train rollin.

I remember last year my dad tested negative for COVID dozens of times, yet they hospitalized him for COVID pneumonia twice. I'm no doctor, but I'm pretty sure you can't have one without the other, LOL.

Dude seriously. My WR 1-2 were Ridley and Woods lol. If you are in a 12 or more team league your options at this point are thin. I'm looking at Donovan Peoples-Jones with his third string QB throwing the ball, Russell Gage (Atl) as starters and Braxton Berrios (NYJ) as my desperation option.

100% unequivocally wrong. We know quite a bit about the virus, we know that masks are effective and we know that vaccines are, like, super effective (but starting to wane with the passage of time - get yer boosters - and introduction of new variants). Saying otherwise is just political garbage.

At this point though, probably the NFL is going to need to do something like just drop testing of vaxxed and asymptomatic players, or allow them to play if they have shown no symptoms for like 24-48hrs after a positive test. Really it's probably either coming down to that or to put the season on hold. It's only going to get worse as the new Omicron spreads. The interesting thing is that it seems to be a fair bit weaker than Delta, just way more communicable. So we could easily see cases just skyrocket without a big increase in symptomatic players.

Masks worn correctly are effective at keeping infected people from spreading the virus to others. Almost no one outside the medical profession wears them correctly, particularly after nearly two years of this stuff. There's a fatigue factor here that's only going to get worse.
The vaccine is super-effective at keeping the effects of the virus from hospitalizing the vaccinated. It is not a guarantee that you won't catch and pass on the virus. Which is why the NFL is doing the right thing not holding asymptomatic players out of games.

Berrios is the only one of those names available.

I picked up Allen Robinson, and am sorta working his absence as the flex option. I currently have Phillip Lindsey, Malcolm Brown, and Duke Johnson on my squad. I also picked up Albert Wilson.

Funny is that in the OC no one wears masks. In LA everyone wears masks. They have a higher transmission rate the we do. I’m of the opinion that at this point those that will be vaxd will be. Those that won’t, won’t. Stop penalizing me for everyone else’s stupidity…sorry choice. Choices have consequences. The sooner we get to that thinking, the sooner we can thin the herd and get back to the real world. I believe in choices. No ill will to anyone. But just stop imposing your bull on me. We need to respect choices even when we disagree because this variation is breaking thru and there is no going back and saying if everyone woulda coulda things would be different. The real world is that people do what they do. Sorry about the Covid post but this is real life and what’s going on in the NFL. And affects everyone on this board. Delete if you like.

So much for them ever being taken serious again when they talk about player safety. Why even test unvaccinated players at that point if they’re only testing when symptoms show.

There's really not much point to any of it. Get everyone vaccinated. That will lessen the impact of the virus. Allow people who have risk factors like cardiac or pulmonary problems to sit out with no financial penalty. Everything else is just window dressing, particularly as infectious as the omicron variant has proven to be. You are not going to stop that infectious a virus from spreading. All you can do is lessen the severity of the symptoms.

From what I've been reading, Omnicron lasts 3-5 days and is much closer to a common cold. Some believe it can't replicate in the lungs like other variants, so the symptoms are much milder. Some also believe that if you're not coughing and sneezing (it replicates in the nose/throat), you can't spread it. That would mean asymptomatic people can't spread it...hence the new rules.

With that said, I caught Omnicron last Wednesday or Thursday. I sneezed a lot on Friday and I was exhausted Sat-Mon. By Tuesday, I felt pretty much normal again (although still tired). It felt like having a head cold plus some of the flu body aches...my lungs stayed clear and I was breathing fine. I tested positive on Friday and negative on Monday.

Of course, everyone's different and some people are being hospitalized, but medical professionals say omnicron taking over is a good thing for the United States. I'm not trying to downplay it or anything, but it sounds like it's much less dangerous than the initial strains.

Anyway, that's why we have the new NFL COVID rules.

The CDC, Government and everyone else has completely wrong about everything about this virus. It’s like they’re weathermen. Always wrong and no one notices. The thing about the weather is that people when they actually walk outside and see what’s actually happening don’t discount what they actually see.
